Awesome videos. Expert commentary, including correct pronunciation of judoka's names, explanation of techniques etc. Appreciate your work, so keep them coming.
Yeah I see this happen a lot. In this situation I think she was going to call mate because he went to his knees, and didn’t expect him to stand up. It all happens so fast and I think the video refs check if it interfered or not
@@JudoHighlights2015 seoi means shoulder, no? So if tori is not throwing over his shoulder (i.e. the elbow is out not in), I think it's not a seoi throw. See for example ruclips.net/video/OdbKKQqmZn0/видео.html I believe it is sometimes referred to as hiki otoshi as well.
@@mfp5585 Seoi comes from the Japanese verb seou which mean to carry something on your back. I know what you're saying about the elbow, but just casually this has been come to be known as a seoi otoshi. kodokanjudoinstitute.org/en/waza/digest/03/ this page, illadis, Koga, and those fighting film videos had something to do with it. Hiki otoshi isn't a waza, it just means to pull and drop, but I think it's a part in some kata?
I practiced Judo 40 years ago and I did not see any ground grappling in these extracts . I have heard that ground fighting has been restricted in Judo championships because the public cannot see what is going on , in that part of the match and because it not very spectacular at all , besides . Is that true ? If so , I believe it is a great loss .
yeah that's what I meant. He definitely landed on his side, but Tori wasn't finished, he continued his throw and flattened him out. Looked like one movement to me... but I know they don't like this rolling onto the back for ippon anymore. In the old days this would definitely be ippon.
And the very first technique we see barely qualified as a wazari. I know that the refs call things far more easily than they did in bygone eras (when I was still active) but that was an embarrassing call.
@@JudoHighlights2015 Standards have changed - he just rolled the guy over. The requirements were " A full throw in which a contestant throws his opponent to the mat with "considerable force and speed" so the opponent lands "largely on his back." - definitely not the case here
How is Aregba's ura-nage at 6:15 not considered head diving?? Watch how low his head goes, naturally, of course, just like when executing uchi mata. BS rule needs to be trashed.

Glad you liked it!
Like that you say blue or white! Sometimes it's difficult to see who got the score without knowing their names.
yeah i just figured that out in this video lol
7:49 the defense to the trip is a butterfly hook/sweep in BJJ
Thank you for the excelente job you are doing. It´s a great pleasure to see your videos.
Thank you very much!
UGH. FINE. I'LL GO BACK TO JUDO.
(This showing up in my feed reminded me how much I love it and I need to get off my butt.)
Do it!

Glad you like them!

I think it'll be live on RUclips
these video's are always educational and entertaining thank you!
Glad you like them!
When i did Jiu Jitsu, the o guruma bot sides were my favs....
Thank you for your videos. they are always excellent.
3:40 kouchi gake is so sick
1:19 i don't think it is fair, the ref said "mate" so it means stop the fight, even if u complete ur throw, it's not fair.

Isnt 1.40 a tai otoshi (after o guruma attempt)?
imo if your knee touches the group it's a seoi otoshi

I believe it is Tai otoshi. Drop knee tai otoshi first used by Korean judoka. Jeon Ki-young was a specialist of this technique.
MSI technical together with that one
1:30 hansoku make, no?
Thank you for your great vids my Friend!
Always great analysis and insights.
Can you prepare a collection of best Shime-Waza in competition?
Why do competitors change gis on the same day? The first 2 Tajima clips show him in white and blue.

“…smash it” 😂😂😂
Of cause it's no Ippon at 2.50, he just lands on one side.
You can't just give Ippon whenever something looks spectacular.
He does say he has a little bias
@@fiderdvis4714 think he meant that the referee was biased not to give Ippon against a home favourite.

1:25 this isnt bearhug?
No because he didn’t bear hug with both hands at the same time. One by one is fine.😊

if you listen closely, you can hear the referee saying "oi, sore-mate" at 2:12 ;)

Why is that barely a Wazari? It’s clearly an ippon 😆

Surprisingly, it didn’t hit the mat, but they wouldn’t give him Hansoku make if he did anyway
let's call it smash him 11:05
