    On of the greatest tactic judo players. He is a huge example for people who don’t have an explosive force

    @3:18, right before the grip break, he slides his own grip higher up, genius.

    That grip break against the belgian was mind blown. I watched it so many times to see what he actually did to make it happen.

    Yes... I think he's the one of the best at his category ( - 81 Kg). I like and I watch him on RUclips channels. I like his style and I believe he's a little bit underrated ... and that shouldn't be! He is so relaxed & fast when he execute his techniques ...and the opponents don't see what's coming! Very stylish judoka ! Cheers ...

    Great video. I hope Nagase tries to go to Paris, so tbat we can see him vs Sasaki in the international circuit (surprisingly they've nevee fought before, even inside Japan).
    Hashimoto next please!
    Also, do you plan on doing videos like these for the women?

    Hi, I'm not a judo guy but I'm thinking about starting (been doing jiu-jitsu about 5 years). These breakdowns are great. Do you think you could put links to the throws that you're referring to in these breakdowns for people like me that are interested but know very little about the sport/art? Cheers

    Nagase's throws often look like he is tricking his opponents. They have no clue where he is going or going to do and then he just trips them. Amazing judoka

    Ashi guruma above the knee is called o guruma (a few examples in this video).

      Ashi guruma: Tori puts the back of his lower leg on uke's kneecap.
      O guruma: Tori puts his leg on uke's lower abdomen
      (Source: Kodokan judo: Throwing Techniques-Toshiro Daigo 10th Dan)
      I think Nagase attacks most of the time with ashi guruma,and reajusts the position of the leg according to the opponent's reaction.

      @@JD-ww2ri I have to disagree with this. There has been a lot of reclassification of techniques by the Kodokan since 2005 and frankly a lot of their changes don't align with what is commonly used within the dojo. What if the lower leg is not on uke's kneecap for Ashi Guruma, lower for example? O Guruma: Nobody would aim for the lower abdomen, that's just ineffective.

    • @JD-ww2ri
      @JD-ww2ri 2 года назад

      @@JudoHighlights2015 Thats interesting and sounds logical.In my personal experience in randori I always attack at the knee cap level,is more secure and efective.
      Anyway, great video,Nagase is one of my favourite fighters,his gripping tactics are one of the best.

    Hello, I’m new to judo. What is left vs right and right vs right?
    Thank you

    • @JudoHighlights2015
      @JudoHighlights2015  Год назад +1

      So as a judo player you have a dominant side, you either like to turn left or right into your throws. This affects how you grip, so the way right vs right grip is very different to how right vs left grips
