Yes... I think he's the one of the best at his category ( - 81 Kg). I like and I watch him on RUclips channels. I like his style and I believe he's a little bit underrated ... and that shouldn't be! He is so relaxed & fast when he execute his techniques ...and the opponents don't see what's coming! Very stylish judoka ! Cheers ...
Great video. I hope Nagase tries to go to Paris, so tbat we can see him vs Sasaki in the international circuit (surprisingly they've nevee fought before, even inside Japan). Hashimoto next please! Also, do you plan on doing videos like these for the women?
Ashi guruma: Tori puts the back of his lower leg on uke's kneecap. O guruma: Tori puts his leg on uke's lower abdomen (Source: Kodokan judo: Throwing Techniques-Toshiro Daigo 10th Dan) I think Nagase attacks most of the time with ashi guruma, and reajusts the position of the leg according to the opponent's reaction.
@@JD-ww2ri I have to disagree with this. There has been a lot of reclassification of techniques by the Kodokan since 2005 and frankly a lot of their changes don't align with what is commonly used within the dojo. What if the lower leg is not on uke's kneecap for Ashi Guruma, lower for example? O Guruma: Nobody would aim for the lower abdomen, that's just ineffective.
@@JudoHighlights2015 Thats interesting and sounds logical. In my personal experience in randori I always attack at the knee cap level,is more secure and efective. Anyway, great video,Nagase is one of my favourite fighters, his gripping tactics are one of the best.
Nagase's throws often look like he is tricking his opponents. They have no clue where he is going or going to do and then he just trips them. Amazing judoka
Hi, I'm not a judo guy but I'm thinking about starting (been doing jiu-jitsu about 5 years). These breakdowns are great. Do you think you could put links to the throws that you're referring to in these breakdowns for people like me that are interested but know very little about the sport/art? Cheers
So as a judo player you have a dominant side, you either like to turn left or right into your throws. This affects how you grip, so the way right vs right grip is very different to how right vs left grips
Ono apparently can’t beat nagase. Given ono’s performance in all japan and team japan competition in the Olympics, I don’t get him being given so much clout
On of the greatest tactic judo players. He is a huge example for people who don’t have an explosive force
just got into judo during these olympics in paris and he is the best i have seen so far. so elegant and easy going. won the final easioy
Please do keep producing these judoka breakdowns. Highly appreciated!
This is how I aspire to play. Very clean Japanese judo from Nagase
@3:18, right before the grip break, he slides his own grip higher up, genius.
You have a keen eye sir
My favorite judoka for sure! Thanks for making this one I was hoping you would, and thanks for getting me into judo with your channel!
I will watch this about 300 times
This is for sure my new favorite judo-video - even better than your last one on Nagase. Love it!
Thank you for this.
Best skilled judoka. Pure judo no scrambling

that's the correct word " effortless" .... Nagase style is effortless !
That grip break against the belgian was mind blown. I watched it so many times to see what he actually did to make it happen.
I don't know how many times I watch this video.
I love this kind of video! Very well broken down and explained. Thank you!
I like him because everything look so effortless

Also, do you plan on doing videos like these for the women?
Yeah, maybe for the more popular ladies
Great comments, great video, great Nagase!

やっぱり永瀬さんは最高の柔道家だ😊
Ashi guruma above the knee is called o guruma (a few examples in this video).
Cheers!
