I've been keeping tabs on it ever since it got announced, and won't lie was a little bummed out to find out it was a mobile game. Cute character designs though, as expected of Atelier games.
I will give it a shot once it goes global, but honestly I'd just like an Atelier game on console next time lol

I'm surprised with how much im enjoying this game. I'm a bit of a weird gamer, and I enjoy to watch nice scenes and animations, and this game is full of that with my favorite characters.
Not to mention I spent nothing and got some of my favorite characters right off the bat!
I really wish this was just advertised as a Spin off, because its ruining most people's enjoyment of the game it seems.
I went it as open minded as possible and I am truly enjoying the experience.
I really hope this doesnt shut down way too soon like Atelier Online. Give it a chance please!

As someone who has every single Atelier release, I like the visuals, but I cannot get into the mobile mindset. My eyes are pretty crappy right now, so playing this on a small screen would be torture.
I really hope they repackage it for PC and consoles, without the gacha FOMO.

This is a very thoughtful and detailed review; thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. I have reservations about free-to-play games, and I'm a bit torn between my high regard for Gust and their work and the unavoidable involvement of Koei Tecmo. Hopefully, they also trust Gust enough not to meddle and try to monetize TOO much.

From the snippet of gameplay I experienced playing this game using bluestack, it's really not that bad, basically nelke 2.0 without the city management stuff, but what I really love the most in this game is the OST especially the opening song and the insert song when you fight the mini boss, I don't know what kind of genre the insert song is, but I can't stop bopping my head when the music starts. Also I love how bubbly Resna is.

There aren’t that many currently. The current Ryza festival has a community event where everyone has to beat a certain amount of bosses/synthesize a certain amount of times, that’s the most collaborative it’s felt so far, however you can’t meet other players this way. I hope you can at least add friends or something in the future :3

I’ll play it because it’s an Atelier game but I will never spend money on it. I think it’s important to send a message to developers that we are fed up with predatory practices. Atelier has always been inflated with the prices for their DLCs and stuff so I’m expecting the prices of the “currency” to be just as bad if not worse.

  • @Twistshock

So.. Is there no looping items back into themselves with quality modifiers to get max quality items early on?

    • @JRPGJungle
      @JRPGJungle  6 месяцев назад

I’d say no basically, you can’t put alchemy items into each other (only materials) and the quality thing has been replaced with SR, SSR, etc, so the quality system is a little different. Traits and stuff are a little bit of a gacha too, so while it’s fun, it’s harder to guarantee how an item goes than in console Atelier. Hope that answers your question!

I will definitely play it when gl release.
But a gacha for a main atelier game is a big risk .
A spin off or something of rysa (because of popularity) as gacha to test the market will be nice .
Now it's here and we have to accept it (kinda) .
My only wish is a ps4/5 version and for the switch (the new one) so people will get some freedom with battery issues.
My phone can only play genshin for 3 hours and die so yeah it's an issue

I was running it on an iPhone SE 2 which is starting to feel like it's getting a little old now (was their minimum requirement for the game thankfully) and the default mode of battery preserving so I didn't feel the need to comment on it in the video, but yeah, it's nice on consoles just not worrying about that :3

We can only hope that this is an attempt to attract mobile phone gamers to the series (and who then may play the console games) rather than a change for the series as a whole. Great review though!

I knew enough Japanese for this game, it’s actually the first Japanese game I’ve fully reviewed but I felt comfortable enough in this game to do it. Atelier girls use a lot of casual and more simple Japanese, plus I used to try to play Atelier in Japanese with a dictionary, so I picked up some stuff then :3 (I also play other JP smartphone games daily so yeah, as I said, I felt comfortable with this one)

I´m the minority who LOVES smartphone games, even gacha games and i love Atelier but what drove me off of this game was the fact that it is region locked, no announcement of a GL release as a MAIN title in the series! This is a no go for me. And even if they´ll release it in GL i´m 100% sure it will not last that long.Atelier is a niche after all even with the suscess of Ryza .So it makes sense that they will not release it for global and if it will not survive that long. It has barely anything to do with the atelier games i love . One could say i can play it in jp but to be honest, with a game so story based -and which i love the series for- in a language i can´t read is pointless.
They even didn´t made it accesible for other countrys, EU for example, even thru some additional apps which basically means they don´t want me to play this game and-more important- they don´t want my money ! With that in my mind i will surely not play this game when it hits global, I will not support such a handling

Eu&western people when they found out japanese game will release in japan first before global😂
Alright sorry for that, this game is terrible I've played it on IOS and it's just another gacha cash grab that just happened to have Atelier skin slapped on it, and lacks all necessary elements that made Atelier games a Atelier game, believe me you won't miss out by skipping this game. I already deleted it, playing it ruined my image of Atelier series.

I would've liked a new 'Nelke & the Legendary Alchemists' type of Atelier game over that mobile game. Sure it looks better than their last mobile game they tried. But meh (region locked)

I mean I would take a new Nelke or Atelier-whole-series game on consoles too, maybe Resleriana will make Gust realise people would like to see characters from the whole series more (along with new ones of course :3)

First let me tell you that I really appreciate the time, efforts and thoughts you put in this review. I can feel your enthusiasm for this game...
However... I am not that enthusiastic at all about the very structure of this game. First of all - It will never be a complete game, and all you "have" is strictly on-line somewhere in the "cloud". The whole gacha structure rubs me completely the wrong way. I simply want to "own" a game and not have something that only exists on-line. While it's nice to see all the old characters back, it at the same time feels a bit cheep way to reel you in.
I hope and pray this is not the future of the Atelier games. I really love those games and I would be very sad and disappointed if this gacha on-line-only type of games is the way the Atelier games will go in the future. Personally I feel no urge to try this game, even for free.
Don't get me wrong - I do not say it is a bad game or something. It's only a type of game that I just don't like. I deeply dislike gacha, mobile. always-on'-line stuff. And I think there are many fans of the Atelier series that feel the same way.

I recommend to never spend money on this game, because if it's anything like their last Atelier mobile game. They will most likely end the services for the game once the story is finished never to be seen again.

I'm really disappointed that they made it a F2P gacha game... I love the Atelier console games, but I really dislike smartphone games with their predatory monetization and weak tedious gameplay, to me it's a big waste of time. It's sad that they waste so much potential on this. Let's see how it will affect the future of the Atelier series either in a positive or a negative way... Nevertheless, nice video, even though I won't play the game.

The devils advocate argument to this is that it could also give them a steady income that let's them make the other games better. Be it bigger games or shorter production time if they have more staff to work on them.

I get that, I hope it makes it there sometime just for the better performance. It runs fine on my phone (although my phone is the minimum requirement so I'm sure it could do better lol), but the pretty visuals would really shine on a bigger screen :3

  • @chariothe9013

It doesn't feel like Atelier at all, it's a visual novel first before anything else, combat is a huge step back,
No actual exploration and gathering from the ground like atelier games.
Imagine FGO, a hub based game, click menus to enter fight after it ends you get back to menus and keep reading next story, with Atelier characters instead but with better equipment system.
I think alchemy is too barebones.
As a gacha game it's also too greedy, the character progression system, dupes you get from gacha is too little comparing to what game requires you to rank up characters to next rank.

Smartphone-games are a no-go. Especially "Free To play" ... which always involves "Pay To Get" and sometimes "Pay To Win". No. no, no, no. Sorry GUST: No money from me to you.

Well - We can only hope and pray there will be a "real" Atelier game in the future without that forced on-line and monetization stuff. If this game is the future for the Atelier games, then indeed the series have ended with Ryza 3... 😥
