To be fair, any straight piped Inline 6 diesel sound amazing. Cummins, Cat, Paccar, Detroit Diesel, Scania, etc. Nothing beats a straight 6 diesel, especially early in the morning. When it's straight piped. Music to my ears.
@@chadholland6847, nah there's plenty of 389 gliders with n14s. Remember, there's always going to be guys who are loyal to the brand, Cat, Cummins and Detroit. My gliders have all been Detroits, but I am a fan of the 12.7.

Jeff Cairns yes and unfortunately the new Mercedes Detroit, and the max force (as always) are garbage. The. Volvo/Mack Engine seems to be ok for most of our guys, but the heavy hitter is the x15
That's a good running N14 there. Didn't smoke much and all the smoke stopped and the idle smoothed out before the short video was even over and it started on the third to fourth engine rotation. EVERYTHING is spot on on the compression, pump and injectors. 👍

Now that’s how to start a diesel…wait for the clicks & dings to stop. If it doesn’t work, shut the key off and wait 10 secs & try again. If it still doesn’t work repeat. Still nothing, try ether. Or put a torpedo heater under the truck. Better yet try plugging in the block heater at night. 😂
I try not to idle it for to long. If it’s extreme cold, I’ll run it high idle for about 10 min. Then just take it easy on the throttle until the transmission gets warm as well as water temperature.

Honest question since I never driven a truck with a N-14. Would you take it over the 60 series?
That's the way you crank a cold diesel, now let it set and run about 30 min., And you'll be ready to run. Thanks
Amazing because a Chevy durmax takes 10 cranks but the dodge Cummins takes 1 crank
Very cool, man! I used to have a dog that went absolutely nuts, every time I fired up my Harley. She'd try to chase me down the street, too.
She was definitely cold but it wasnt that bad. My guess is that it only sat over night at a temperature of around the freezing mark.
Cool
It's gotta be swapped because the N14 was discontinued before the 389 came out. 389 came out in 2007 to replace the 379
