Wow, Russia sure took a large piece of Persia. I used to wonder why Iran is still as big as it is, despite sharing a border with Russia/USSR. USSR/The Russian Empire ruled Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, Finland, Poland, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Mongolia, Korea, and lost them all by 1992; some earlier... And yet- Iran/Persia was never an entire Republic of USSR/Russia or the Empire. So I just assumed that Iran/Persia was always just too difficult for Russia/etc to maintain their claim of Iran. I'm surprised of how much of Iran was able to claim, although it was only temporary. It's amazing how much the map has changed since 1900. I was surprised to learn that Saudi Arabia was founded in 1932. As economically successful they have been, and with all the oil, which of course was used before cars, it seems that Saudi Arabia would never either split like in half, or exchange any of their land. It's the value of it all, which is why I'm surprised that Saudi Arabia was founded so recently in modern history. Less than 100 years ago. And while of course time can't run backwards and can't raise the question why Saudi Arabia wasn't founded much earlier, but I wonder why the previous rulers of the land didn't have what it took to maintain rule. It was such a significant loss. (Mainland) Central America used to be 1 whole Country, except Panama, which was part of Columbia. I wish that at least one of them became a U.S. State. Of course I would like to see it all become a U.S. State. Because it's so narrow on the map, with the Pacific and Atlantic oceans just 30 or so miles apart. I also wish Baja California and Sur were U.S. States, if not 1 entire U.S. State. Also Cuba, or the Bahamas, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Jamaica or Bermuda. Not other foreign islands though. Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula once considered joining the U.S. Since the U.S. took almost half of Mexico, I wish of course that they took it all. But they just wanted to widen westward to the west coast. Which was also why the U.S. also took whatever belonged to the British below the 49th parallel. But originally, the U.S. wanted a higher latitude. The British though insisted that the border be below their own Territory -- Oregon Territory. But the U.S. argued back and pushed the proposed border even further north, much past the southern tip of future-Alaska. Eventually, just like with Mexico, the U.S. agreed not to extend further than necessary to reach the west coast. Of course I wish the U.S. set the border further north. The U.S. later once even tried to take all of Canada. I wish they were successful. Plenty of Alberta's want to secede from Canada and join the U.S. for better Democracy, Constitution and representation. After British Columbia, when Canada was founded, British Columbia wasn't a part of Canada. To me, it's too bad that the U.S. didn't claim it before they could join Canada. Alaska could have been linked directly with the lower 48 States. Although then Canada would have had no Pacific west coast. Nova Scotia and New Brunswick at one point before claimed by Canada, wanted to join the U.S. instead. But Canada didn't let them. During World War 2, Newfoundland was treated more like a U.S. State, even than Puerto Rico ever was. But of course Canada declined any U.S. request for Newfoundland. For me, it's very unfortunate that since a treaty was signed back around 1975, land around the world could no longer be sd and given away by their own Country against the will of the people living in the otherwise sellable land. So not a piece of Canada, more of Mexico, Russia, or even a piece of Greenland, Africa, Indonesia or Australia.
Well here's the answer to your confusion, because you seem to misunderstand Iran. We've been around for thousands of years, we've been invaded by Greeks, Arabs, Turks, Mongols, and yet we've always survived and amassed powerful empires. If you look at Iranian history, you'll notice that all of our invaders were eventually absorbed into our culture (like Alexander of Macedon, who was a gigantic weeb for Persian clothing, food, and bureaucracy), which means WE'VE been the regional influencer. Britain and Russia may have stolen our historical lands, but we accumulated enough administrative experience over thousands of years to hold what we have left. Iran's greatest strength has always been its culture and historical pride, we're one of Asia's most oldest major civilizations. Have some sense.
My country Iraq turned into a literal joke after the gulf war, we had so much potential but it all went down the drain cause of the Ayatollahs and Saddam alongside America. It's a tragedy.
It was a good job, but it still has flaws. For example, you did not cover the Kurdish rebellion against the central government of Iran in 1979-80 and the Kurdish rebellion against the central government of Turkey.
@soldier_x_ You didn't allow anything. It was granetd to us through Americas intervention. It would not have happened otherwise. Fuck America but that one thing was good for us. Iraq helped too in the fight but Kurds destroyed their Capital City Raqqa in Syria. I'm not saying it'sa a competition but Iraq has done a lot of bad to Kurds and all the other countries too. Saddam for example. If you haven't been alive during the time he was alive don't say he was good.
You caused a lot of insurgencies in Iraq so don’t act all innocent. For example you fought with Iran’s side in the 8 year long war. You smuggled all kind of stuff to Iran when Iraq was sanctioned. You’re traitors. Iraq helped you by giving you autonomy and took in a lot of Kurdish immigrants from other countries, and this is how you show your gratitude?

Buffer zones between the Ottomans and Persia (13th century-19th century)

Baban (16th century-1850)
Tabriz khanate
Hasan Khan dynasty in Pish-e Kuh (1795-1820)
Saran khanate
Khurasani Kurdish exclave circa 1835
20th-21st century entitie

Kingdom of Kurdistan (1921-1924 and 1925)
Kurdistansky Uyezd (1923-1929) and Kurdistan Okrug (1930

Kurdistan Eyalet
Breaking them up and taking their lands back are two different things that shouldn’t be mixed up.
Kuwait was bigger…but then it made a deal with Saudi Arabia and gave them half the country
Kuwait is an Iraqi/British province, it should’ve been a province in Arabia🇸🇦

So not a piece of Canada, more of Mexico, Russia, or even a piece of Greenland, Africa, Indonesia or Australia.
there was 2 Saudi states before the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia starting from 1744
