- This is the Gunther Werks Porsche 993 Restomod! Could it be better than a Singer 911? You decide! But the engineering on the air cooled, naturally aspirated 4.0L flat six is outstanding, it drives like a race car and makes all the right noises to make you giggle!

As an engineer, I am simply in awe of the knowledge, expertise and expression of Porsche ideas that went into this stunning piece of machinery. Simply in awe. This is the type of place that I would love to visit and be granted a tour of. THIS, this is true automotive engineering genius.
You should watch the Koenigsegg factory video series. Now THAT, as an engineer, is amazing.
It's just a copy!
Genius are the Porsche creator, not this ones. Although its machanic art they are produci g too
@@colors6692 it’s not a copy, it’s a restomod.
@@alexion9541 it’s still genius for GuntherWerks’ engineers to reimagine the 993 into a modern day sports car with modern day performance whilst still feeling and looking like a 90s sports car.
The flared arches, light bar, ducktail spoiler & centre exit exhausts make this one of the best rear ends I have ever seen
The Alpine A110 is up there too I reckon.
You've obviously never stood behind me whilst I'm tying my laces
@@timparker2275 LOL

the porsche has more shape to it than the mans chin.
I cannot, for the life of me, remember when I became such a Porsche fan but wow, this car is absolutely stunning
When you love driving it's natural to realise porsche is the pinnacle of car manufacturers.
Check out Gunther Werks and ull be more in love
Best 911 EVER
@@MikelDog I couldn’t possibly agree more.
@@MikelDog. Bingo. Pure driving ecstasy
What makes this great is the understated design. It's clean and smooth. No spoilers, air dams, sharp edges or bulky cosmetics. Simple white with the racing stripes. Amazing.
That is an aesthetically pleasing piece of engineering!
This is easily one of the best ever cars I’ve seen. Both aesthetically and performance-wise. A masterpiece. Could only imagine how it’d feel for a drive.
The most mervellous 993 I saw in my entire life, and I´m a Porsche enthousiast since my 6 years old and I´ve now 68 and a happy owner of a 91 Carrera 4 - 964. Thank you Mr JWW.
A 964!! Great choice bruv!! Cant wait for you to turn it into a replica of the blackbird from wangan midnight!!
Lucky She 👿 You - Just 🤣 💦 😂
Restomod should be officially confirmed as an Art. This is beyond perfection 😍
James it is a testament to your intellectual brand that you have a collaborative open door to entities like Gunther. Your skill set in terms of film / production value, and in depth organic knowledge of the engineering aspects of cars and the business are without question, superior to others out there. All very informative and exciting to see and listen to, so keep the good work up. And thank you for bringing these open portal videos to us. The 993 is a gem.

Whenever there's something to lean on, Mr. JWW is leaning on it
He maybe has a bad back
Often the accelerator.
I often notice this in the videos as well. Especially in these Gunther Werks videos when the others are wearing gloves to touch the cars, he's leaning all over them.
Would love to see what Porsche say about this car. The engineering behind this sculptured piece of art drapes over like liquid. I had to rewatch a few times and pause it whilst my mind and my heart could settle on each element of this beautiful car.
❤️
The beauty of it is 1 thing ..... but when it's just slower than a P1 around laguna that is what we call a beautiful weapon. True engineering masterpiece
This is truly impressive 😎
amazing car and super impressive time, but it was on racing slicks while the P1 lap time is on street tires. Would be curious what a P1 GTR on racing tires could do.
and it's a manual! a manual car just a bit slower than P1 on laguna seca..speechless!
@Paul Blackman around a track? What if the 993 had the racing slicks like it did for the Laguna Seca run?
@@hobmarg yes and a half second is a ton at Laguna
Easily, without a doubt the best car you have had on the channel.
laughable statement
You're forgetting the Koenigsegg
Yes definitely my opinion. I would much rather have a go in this then the Koenigsegg.
@@THESLlCK why ?
@@JacK-yr8ri Agreed. All day long.
Gunther Works & Singer are making analog dreams come true! That whip has to be around a million bucks or quid. They're only gonna appreciate in value as we progress into the EV era.
It’s a bargain only 430.000 pounds
@@crosfrancis8239 That's the base price
Those are interesting, but can't touch the Ruf Automobiles SCR... Made from new in Germany, not refurbished stuff...
I always thought pegani was the most beautiful piece of art disguised as a car but this right here… my god it’s the most best thing I’ve ever seen and I have two kids.
Jeff Gamroth is the reason this engine and power is off the charts. He is an absolute wizard. I've heard from very reputable sources this is a $100K+ engine for GW to purchase for these cars. Those tips!! Are you kidding me?!
These old cars have so much more personality and excitement than any new car.
I couldn't agree more. I'm just on the other side of 50 & love these resto mod analog cars. My dream car would be a Singer or GW air cooled 4 liter.
I'm not sure that's entirely correct re GR Yaris
@ray h. Its considered old because it's based on the 993 generation Porsche built in 1995-1998. The very last air cooled engine that Porsche built. It was replaced by the 996 in 1999 the first water cooled 911
In the first 17 seconds of this video, without ever actually seeing the car from a side angle yet, my mind already had convinced itself that it was the most beautiful whole body experience to walk up to and drive this car. Wow. The look and sound of this masterpiece of design engineering presented as a functional work of art is in a class of its own. Seriously, is there anyone that saw this video not instantly awestruck by the seductive lines, forms, and shapes intentionally crafted into this car each time they were revealed? Is there even a term called “Etherial Magic”? Well if there wasn’t before, the beauty of this thing just gave that term a solid definition because there is no other way to describe how mythical it seemed as each viewing angle or change in exhaust tone was revealed, something wildly seductive was exposed. And all that was before the doors and front and rear hatches were opened for a look inside. In all sincerity, this is probably the most beautiful car I’ve ever seen not in person. ❤️👍🏻😎👍🏻❤️
Honestly I was awestruck about how somebody could so completely tart up whatI thought was a car design that would look good no matter what…….I was wrong.
The rear quarter and wheels are literally the only parts of this car that don’t look like They had Pixar imagine a Porsche it is had been made of chocolate and left out in the sun all day……and not in a good way.
Epic description, and I have to agree.
Very well put
@@rbslammed6163zero response shows just how wrong you are.
@@ConservativeGangstR car truly is gorgeous in every angle especially the orange one in the earlier interview. One of the only minor things i dislike is the taillight bar design. I like the original Porsche one more and how it lays flat with the body shape and these cars look way better with same colored splitters but that's easy. I don't know why but I love the look of the clear signals right next to the vents just looks so good. fucking epic car
Porsche are absolutely awesome. 3 days ago I just bought a 987.2 Boxster S with 3.4L flat six and wow what a car to drive, experience and listen. This is just a fairly affordable Porsche and i can't imagine what top of the range and a lot more expensive models would be like to drive. Absolutely love it.
What an amazing machine. Combines the analog nature of several generations ago with current tech. That’s definitely a winning combination.
FINALLY!!! Finaly someone did closer look to those 😍, my favourite porsche/car since i saw this 2 years ago, absolute dream, this as sports car, 992 turbo s as daily, and i would be happiest man on earth 😊🤣
I mean, the car is great but can we please also take a moment to acknowledge this guy's awesome beard design?
Extra downforce (when he drives windows down).
Stark Industries design
Definitely designed the car.
Ese es el mejor diseño de coche que hay en todo el mundo y encima es un Porsche. Con eso te digo todo
Es una joya, es espectacular, es único y es un Porche Clásico con todas las comodidades de año 2020 y sigue siendo UNICO

All of what you said and looks and sounds amazing gunther have done Great for such a young company 👏🏽👏🏽👍🏽
I am a 66 year old man and a petrolhead my entire life, but I have not felt this sort of automotive lust since I was a 14 year old boy putting up posters of 917s up on my bedroom wall. Well done sir, amazingly well done.
The Gunther Werks 993 is beautiful. Sounds very nice too! Definitely would love to see more reworked classics on the channel like Gunther Werks, Singer, RWB, etc.
What a peace of kit. Saw the green one near LA and it was mesmerizing!
I love these restomods and I thank Singer for starting this movement. The 993 GW is an absolute masterpiece...however, the front is too wide...too much of anything is not necessarily a good thing !
well for the amount of money and also not a single pcs from Porsche ,why they put Porsche logo on it .
@TCaad10 ehh, RUF was getting cars straight from Porsche and selling new cars that they had modified but no where near as much as these cars have been.
Singer and this car take a used car and totally re-engineer every aspect of the entire car.
looking a bit like the 928 on the front
check your porsche history, singer is a recent player in this field
Yes to bulberus the singer looks wise is much more in keeping with the classic 911
Whether better or worse than a singer, I’m just happy that my dream car continues to evolve and not just a newer sleaker, sometimes uglier modern Porsches push the most beautiful porches’ into obscurity. Thank you to all builders that keep these beautiful vehicles from retiring from our newer generations minds.
How about doing a review of Ruf .. James 👍🏾
Oh my God. What kind of Masterpiece in Design and Engineering. It´s amazing.
The 993, the last of the real 911s. Although I keep my 993 quite stock (I have no issue with bolt-on items like suspension), this car is nice. This also coming from a 991.1 GTS owner, I think my 993 will always be my favorite. I'll never sell my 993 which I have owned for 12 years so far.
Me too
Living in US im a huge fan of classic cars from 20s-late 60s. Always was about keeping it original & simple. But over the last few years ive grown a real appreciation for Gunter, Singer, restomods in general. Love it. Idk why companies dont bring back classic cars in limited numbers but modernizing them
Like Aston Martin DB5 continuation?
But modern?
Yeah, I wonder too. Crash protection issues probably aren't helpful
A totally sublime car , makes my 992 C2 look dull ! Great video James .
993 is undoubtedly my favorite among sports cars. The ride is simply amazing!!
I love the car, the 993 is one of my favorite cars of all time, but IMO the fender flares are a "bit" to wide for me. I have a 993C4S and I love the proportions. Overall the Gunther Werks 993 is badass, I love the attention to detail. I would love to drive one, not only the increased HP, but being much lighter, I can't imagine how fun that car is to drive.
Between RUF, Guntherworks and Singer there is so much eye and ear candy available for NA greatness.
I owned the same car, 98 model. Great car, shame mine was an automatic. It's glued to the road and stable like a tank. My e46 couldn't hold a candle to the Porsche's cornering speed. No body roll at all.
@@bigshorty4855 I have an E46 too. 😂. I’m getting old ; I’ve had my E 46 for almost 17 years now, still going strong.
@@Backin48 sold my 328 couple years ago, after 200k km's the car just started getting problems everywhere. Sold it at 290k+ after having changed clutch etc. Shame about the 4s and later 4. Sold both when I had a feeling the value would go up. Literally 1 year after I sold them the value tripled. If they had been manual would have quadrupled.
In short, never buy an automatic Porsche. Along with an older s class probably the only automatics I've owned. Always prefer manual except with Mercedes, who for some reason can't make a decent manual transmission.
I love the little touches that make it look a little more modern
Never ever have I made it into the first 100 viewers of a MrJWW video... til now!
The sound omgggggg
Perfection right there wow.....
Those rims leaves me totally speechless
Seriously lost for words
My dream car of all time. The minute I saw one of these and did my research, This is the first car I would buy if money wasn’t an issue haha
Let’s hear it for the reviewer, very nice work. With his line of enquiry and driving experience he captures so well the child like curiosity of a 911 newbie as well as delving competently into the technicalities of the car design and it’s performance to give a very clear overview and picture of this magnificent 911.
Overall, Porsche's are the most beautiful cars.
Agreed! 100%
I've always dreamed of a Singer. You just changed my mind! Stunning!
What a fascinating guy - very interesting vlog James
This car is probably the best Porsche I’ve ever seen! First class.
This….THIS is what I’d have if I could afford it.

Now THIS is a Porsche!! The best looking Porsche I ever seen in my life!!
Love, love, love this car, the effort, thought, and engineering that went into this car, unbelievebale.
What a dream car that is .. the stance, the sound, the looks, the performance ... me likes!
If I were rich enough, I'd have brought 4 of these, no drama.
All in different specs :
1) As we see in the video.
2) Same, but in a satin, matt grey with metallic silver wheels, and satin white livery strips.
3) No colour choice here, but I'd ask GW to fit a super charger in this one.
4) No colour choice here, but I'd ask GW to fit a bigger, twin turbo, 4x4 setup. Look at 900+ bhp.
( edit ) Damn it ... got an itch to get my Pfister Retro Comet modded now.
Maybe the most beautiful 911 restomod I've seen. Wow!
