    The flowers this time of the year are beautiful and it's fun to see what other people have in their gardens. The buttons on your cardigan are perfect and you can see the rings very well. It is so great when husbands have talents that add something special to our projects.

    SUMMER COLORS… this whole episode screams Summer! Flowers, dress, tops, socks and on… I must get my gear together for the Tolsta tank/vest in summer colors! Remarkable pattern variations + different yarn weights, Rebecca is phenomenal!
    Currently making crochet baskets using my never-ending acrylic bits & bobs… well, more like bins & bags!! heh heh (7 large baskets, oh my!!)
    Thanks for a fun time! One more hat to finish & I’m off to make some tanks/camisoles or tees for summer (thanks for reminding me to make a few shortie socks… I’m so used to knitting round&round, I forget to stop & make the heel…hah!)

    For what I'm now working on, it's my third stranded colorwork hat, this one in the Flying Geese Hat pattern. I'm using Knitting Yarn, a DK weight merino wool from Purl Soho, in the colors New Leaf Green and Purple Prune. Knitting Yarn comes already put up in a skein, so no winding ... Yay! Took me 20 years to try stranded colorwork, and I'm really enjoying it.

    Your Building Blocks Cardi is lovely, such a beautiful fit . The buttons your husband made are perfect for the sweater. On my screen the Hedgerow yarn looks more like sweet potato than fuchsia, but since I have hanks of Hedgerow Fuchsia Rose in my stash, I can visualize the actual color.

    • @EdibleThoughtsMakes
      @EdibleThoughtsMakes  2 месяца назад

      Thanks Vivian! Oh dear, it doesn't look orange at all on my screen. Though different screens have different color correction is all I can think of???

    • @vivianpowell1732
      @vivianpowell1732 2 месяца назад

      The color difference is because of my screen, which has been showing all reds as being more orange than they actually are. That having been said, since that red-orange color looks great with that cardigan and buttons, maybe you could make another one in Hedgerow Persimmon Red!

    LOVE your dress! I usually lightly iron washed linen after washing the fabric and before sewing it, but it gets all nice and crinkly again after. Sweetwater is one of my favorite Purl Soho yarns, what a great choice for Aimee's tee!

    • @EdibleThoughtsMakes
      @EdibleThoughtsMakes  2 месяца назад +1

      Thank you so much! Appreciate your insight on washed linen fabric. I'm so pleased with how Aimee's tee turned out - I was a little nervous at first because of the shallower yoke depth that had a closer fit on others but then when I read that the yoke depth could be easily adjusted (wasn't sure because of the lace detail part), and that I would have a different row gauge that worked in my favor, I decided to give it a go!

      @@EdibleThoughtsMakes The tee is in my to-knit list. Hopefully, I'll get to it before summer's over. The yoke being easily adjustable is what drew me to it to begin with.

    Your gingham dress looks so lovely for the summer months. On the washed linen you wondered about ironing before cutting. The best rule of thumb for any fabric is to wash/dry/iron it as you would the finished garment. That way you get the most accurate fit. Obviously, if there are wrinkles that would hinder the cutting/sewing process gently press those out if you don’t intend to iron the finished garment. HTH. 😊

    Tip on knitting flat for better gauge: Most people have a looser purl gauge so when knitting the purl side go down 1 needle size from your knit side. Try a swatch and see if it improves the evenness.

    • @EdibleThoughtsMakes
      @EdibleThoughtsMakes  2 месяца назад

      I don’t have a looser gauge purling is what I was saying. The uneven tension is apparent randomly, not just on purl rows.

      Maybe for those who wear glasses all the time (versus those who wear them occasionally), the glasses are part of our face and not something taken off and put on multiple times (like they go on in the morning and stay there until I go to bed). So it's easy to "forget" to take them off?? lol
