I’m relatively new to crochet and I’m about half way through this tutorial and it’s coming out so lovely! Such an easy to follow tutorial for a lovely project! :-) can’t wait to see the finished result!
I just ordered a TON of yarn from Paintbox and I can't wait for it to arrive so I can make a bunch of these! Just this month I learned how to crochet thanks to your videos. Thank you so much for making easy to follow videos for everyone.
I love this idea! So fantastic and mini versions could be made for fruit and veg at the supermarket too, so no plastic is needed when shopping. I've got this on my 2020 craft plan list :D
Enjoying this very much Sarah, I am making mine in Kingfisher Blue and paintbox yarn was on offer so got a few colours to make a few for pressies, am looking forward to the next turtorial to finish off the bag xxx
I bought 2 of these type bags in France 8 years ago. They are just starting to fall apart. I’m thrilled to now be able to make my own, following your excellent tutorial. They hold so much yet take up no space at all. Thank you Thank you Thank you Very Much. Can’t wait to make some of these for myself and family and friends.
JessieMarie I’ve taken them to the grocery store where boxes of cereal fit, as well as many other items. A pen would obviously not stay put but really anything that fits in the plastic disposal bags fits in these. Also I take them on vacation because they take up no space but carry lots. I really find them extraordinarily useful.
It’s sometimes hard to get the same Yarn in different parts of the world.... would be great if you could list some alternative yarns that would work just as well. Thanks for always providing such great products and tutorials hun xxx
So excited to watch this. I just ordered my yarn a few days ago so it should be here this week. Yay. I couldn't decide which color I wanted so I ordered 2 bundles. I have been using a lot of the Paintbox yarns and I LOVE them!
Hi:) love this bag, I’m making a second one. If you lose count of rows, is there an easy way to count? Alternatively, is there a measurement to know you’re finished with rows of the body of the bag?
Thank you! 😊 It would be a case of counting the mesh holes created by the chain 6s - these are worked from rows 7 to 52 so you should have 45 rows in total. If you loop a stitch marker through every 10th row it can make it a lot easier to check where you’re up to.
@@bellacococrochethi, I can’t find the answer to the previous question in the instructions. I have so many chain 6 spaces going across and I am only on about row 12-at the rate I’m going I will need about 10 balls of wool and the bag will need to be carried around in a suitcase! I keep checking to see if I am adding too many spaces at the ends but it seems I’m going in the last chain 6 space at each end so am I doing something else wrong or is each row going to continue getting longer and longer until it goes round in a complete circle ( laid flat) 3 or 4 times???? Help!!!😊😅
Working into different parts of the chain can give different results, and some are easier to work than others. For beginner tutorials I often work into one loop of the chain only, as this is the simplest method, however it can be stretchy and less secure. Working under two loops of the chain can be more difficult for a beginner to do but gives a sturdier, firmer result 😊
Love the tutorial - what method do you recommend for attaching the different balls of yarn for the most sturdy bag? In previous videos I have seen you knot the new yarn directly to the work, is that what you recommend here?
It really is personal preference and I recommend trying different methods to see which you prefer 😊 Regardless, if you make sure to sew the ends in nice and securely then the bag should be sturdy :)
You can find the gauge requirements for this pattern along with the written instructions over on my blog here: bellacococrochet.com/sundown-market-bag-free-pattern/ 😊
Hi, first time watching your videos and look forward to doing this bags as a project. But, I have one slight question? When you're saying double stitch do you mean single stitch?
Just "cast on"? (What is the crochet term for starting, hooked? I dunno... Anyway;) Making one for my mother in law for Christmas, absolutely love it! Was actually your videos I learnt to crochet from, you guys are amazing. Keep it up!
I’m trying to do row 53 but it seems to make the last row of 52 go strange, what am I doing wrong please? I’ve not been crocheting long but I would be really grateful for any advice!x
Row 53 is to cinch in the mesh part of the bag to match the opposite side so it's normal for it to make the previous row look a little strange as it pulls it all together 😊
Yes, you can use acrylic although you may find the bag isn't as stretchy as it would be using cotton. Alternatively, any cotton aran yarn will work well, it doesn't have to be Paintbox 😊
Once you get onto the main part of the bag where you are making your chain 6s, you can count the loops alongside the edge of each row to see how many rows you have done - I always find it handy to use a row counter or even a piece of pen and paper to keep track of the rows though 😊
You can find the written instructions for the pattern over on my blog here: bellacococrochet.com/sundown-market-bag-free-pattern/ which might help you 😊
Not sure if I can use any acrylic yarn for this pattern. I am a beginner and finding it bit difficult to work with cotton yarn. Appreciate if someone can reply :) thanks.
I think you would be fine to use acrylic yarn if you're struggling to work with cotton; you may find the bag is a bit less stretchy overall. You can also get acrylic/cotton mix yarns which could be an option 😊
@@bellacococrochet thank you so much for replying me. Brilliant suggestion of using acrylic/cotton yarn. Can't wait to start this project. Thanks again :)
I need help! When I am working on my bag and I get to the 2nd band doing the double crochet into the chain 6 spaces, I am only getting 29 stitches and in the pdf pattern it says 29. Am I missing a stitch somewhere? It is quite possible I am as I am not an experienced crocheter so can anyone give me some advice? Thank you!
hana198624 on another video of this same bag, she suggested making an extra DC (SC in US terms) before the going into the final last loop so you end up with the same number of stitches you started with.
I can’t tell because you never show the whole bag as you’re working it in the video so I can’t tell if mine looks the way it should at row 15 - I don’t want to continue to roll 52 if it’s not correct lol
For rows 8 to 52 you should be working back and forth in rows as you would when crocheting normally - you will find that the mesh part of the bag balloons out slightly due to the amount of stitches but you'll cinch it back in when you work your final rows 😊 You can find the written instructions over on my blog for more help: blog.bellacococrochet.com/sundown-market-bag-free-pattern/
@@bellacococrochet thank you! I trusted the process and continued on, and I’m pleased with the results so far all I have to do is make the handles. Thank you so much for all the time you put into these videos you’ve taught me so much.
You should be able to count the rows by looking at the side of the bag (you may have to stretch out a little), but I really recommend using a row counter. You can buy small row counters that you press to keep track, but there are also free apps that you can download 😊
