Just great, thank you for an injection of down to earthness. It's the music that matters most and someimes it does feel easier, quicker, more productive, more exciting even to twist a knob and move a fader.
Love all the old analogue gear. Have an old Soundcraft Delta in my home studio and it still works great. The old Peavey Isis speakers you have will last forever too. Your right about new gear being made with a short shelf life. Makes a change to see someone showing evryone you dont need the latest expensive kit to make music. Been checking out many of your videos lately and I've enjoyed them all. Very talented musician. Keep em coming.
You look to be a happy man to posess and use all sort of stuff you learnt how to use and like to play with. Congrats. Thanks for sharing your knowledge, work and hobby in a nice way
Love it, much respect for keeping the ST alive. An ST and a sampling cartridge was my introduction to synthesis. I remember upgrading to a double sided floppy disc. Heady days, get off my lawn, etc.
This is one of the top 5 homers I’ve seen, as far as real quality useable gear, functionality, and real good old fashioned thriftiness; and trust me, I’ve been around many studios, home, pro , and other. . . All the shiny latest technological crap doesn’t always impress me. All that glitters is not gold, and sound isn’t necessarily always better when you have the latest gimmicks & gadgets. Nice video Dan, Keep being creative
Thanks Dan, That is exactly what I plan to do with my Spirit Studio, no patch bays, just plug everything into it once, I hope you got a new MacBook by now. I am surprised that the old one was still able to keep up for so long. I appreciate you pointing me in the right direction
Hi Dan, thanks for sharing, your videos are an inspiration and I wish I was staying close to you and your studio, I could have recorded many albums by now 2020. I like the way you so open about everything in music and I'll watch all your youtube videos. I'm a saxophonist and have a very basic Logic Pro X home studio in progress. Great staff all around.
Hi Dan, I'd love to hear you talk about your experience with open source / free software. There are DAWs, effects VST, synth emulators, organ emulators etc. I think many people such as myself who try to learn music creation/production is likely doing it on a shoestring budget. I'd love to own lots of expensive hardware but space and cash is usually the problem. Fantastic video again. Keep emailing coming.
Thanks for sharing Dan. I.m glad you’re giving some life to the perfectly working gear. I also find myself talking to other musicians which can’t believe I’m using anything older than 4 years and still make music (though they are usually the kind of “fairy dust analog vintage character” seekers that will pay hundreds of euros for some synth if producer X or Y uploads a video on instagram using it). Much love to that Atari ST! And what’s with that Wiimote controller next to the Reel to Reel recorders ?!? Cheers from Spain, mate!
Hey Dan ! It was so great to see your studio I really enjoyed every minutes of it! and sorry for giving the 1(13) like :D i hope someone hit the 114th soon :)) just jokin'
Hi Dan first I'd like to say I tottly enjoy your videos , I have learn so much from you. sometimes I view your videos 3 or 4 times.I have so much respect for you and your work.I have an isue I would appreciate your help if you don't mind. I bought a old Imac verson , 10.13.6. I did some reserch and my interface ( M-Audio Fast Track Ultra 8R ) it is still supported by the company that bought M-Audio . I downloaded the latest driver which is 2,33 and I get no volume and in the control room it says Hardware not working I can't afford a new interface please help me find a driver , please. thanks kindly.
Hi Bill, this is indeed tricky. There are versions of the same Mac OS that give problems but the only thing I can suggest is to Google drivers for it. I’m not really experienced in computers but I did have an issue once where 10.4.10 didn’t support my old Tascam interface but 10.4.11 did. Dare I suggest upgrading your Mac to 10.14?
Any chance u could fill me in a bit On the mixing desk before the computer I run reason (propeller head )and there’s a mixer it within the program but I’ve heard people talk about having a mixing desk in front of it still I’m not sure if I’m explaining the thoughts that occupy my mind correctly ... If you didn’t have your hard disk recorder would you still have a mixer in front of your computer..... Much respect to you for sharing all your thoughts and knowledge

Neil Darling hi there: this is going to be a subject for one of my next films! Thanks for asking and I’ll aim to demonstrate...
Funny question... do you get that hat when you complete a Jazz test? Why does it seem that's the "JAZZ HAT"?
