So weird seeing them making this.. I’ve always pictured filmmaking as something very strict, but Dean and Chris had those fun brainstorm-sessions casually around the table, while joking around at the office. Such a freespirited and down-to-earth production, resulting in a masterpiece

I'm not all the way thorough but he's just so tired and all the sudden says that I'm like "Uh guys, he needs some sleep, bad." But seriously, "Is that a vacume cleaner...on there balcony? That's sooo weird" I laughed so hard! Idk if that's my favorite, but it might end up being my fav part LOL

so awesome to hear others enjoy the music as much as I do. This is probably one of my favorite movies of all time and the test drive scene is probably my absolute favorite moment in any movie ever made. the combo of the music where hiccup and toothless fly under that stone arch and toothless wing skims the surface, pure cinematic poetry. I wish I could get into this industry.

I had the same reaction when i watched the movie the first time last year. Somehow i missed the second on the theather, and watched it last week. That obsession came back and I'm watching the tv series now. The incredible part is how related i felt to hiccup, he's awkardness and cutness made him my favorite character of all time. Felt like I was 5 again.

I've never seen a documentary on producing a movie before. I'm so glad I was able to see this. IT was epic enough just to have been able to see them have fun and voice act and just draft so many different ideas and have so many that they could just put together all the most special one's to make it all the greater. And then came the sound effects to give everything life, and the dragons! There is so much magic to this movie, and this WORLD that these animators have created its irreplaceable. This drive, and emotion, and spirit of this movie truly made me cry in joy. They were right, the music is just as important as every other little piece. Its that final touch of magic to bring everything to life. One day, I'll be doing this. I'll get there. And I'll raise some dragons of my own. I'm so glad to have seen this world.

I really hope that in HTTYD 2, there are some of those awesome scenes where there isn't any dialogue and the scene is just played out by the animation and the music, because those moments were the some of the big highlights of the first film, and it would be incredible to see more of those moments in the 2nd one. :)

I've been a huge fan of HTTYD ever since it came out, I literally have an entire youtube playlist of analysis videos about the film and trilogy! How did I not know this film existed?? It was inspiring, heartfelt, and passionate. It's incredible to watch the process from start to finish, and to appreciate each of the people who worked on the film. Literally everyone put so much heart into the film, and it shows. I always love watching the credits after a movie, especially this one. The hard work and creative process is so admirable, and I love recognizing and appreciating talent.
Also the fact that they get to go to a spa for the sound design process?? absolutely amazing

So many spine-tingling moments just watching this doc, never mind the film! Unlike so many of these 'behind-the-scenes' featurettes, which are little more than advertisements, this one actually provides great insight into the actual making of the film, including many of the smaller moments which make it so special. Just a shame this wasn't on the dvd/blu-ray!

But what I do know is that it’s the music that made me go back to it, I was watching tik Tok and heard test drive and I was like “I know this” so I looked it up, saw it was httyd, listened to a few of the songs and completely fell in love with the score like I’m still listening to it now and it’s been months
Since then I’ve fell in love with each and every character, got a toothless plushie and forced pretty much every friend of mine to watch it, I’ll never be thankful enough for the joy this movie brings me, really so thank you dreamworks

What? They were working on the show too? How could they if no one knew how the film would do? It took two KFP films until Legends of Awesomeness came out. I think the Turbo show is an exception 'cause DW thought it would become a hit no matter what. With HTTYD though, no one was certain if it was going to be as popular is it turned out.

I don't think the show is done just yet. Penguins of Madagascar takes place between the first two movies. Or at least it should despite it feeling like it's an entirely different universe altogether for obvious reasons. Still the show is currently on the air even though the third film came out and is thought to be the last film in the series.

That hilarious moment at 23:01 when he’s going through which actor was coming and trying to figure out what he’s supposed to have prepared
“that means the scenes I’m writing... the scenes I’m writing are...” and you can see so clearly, absolute horror dawning on his face before he says “... all of them”

There is a sequel in the making, the only thing they've given away about the plot is that now that they have dragons they have a lot more freedom to explore, so new places and characters :)

I am a sucker for animation so I am easily impressed by animated pictures. But this one is not just good. It is absolutely great one. It took me on an emotional rollercoaster that no other had done before. Even for the sole frame where the dragon dives into the fire to save our hero. I am speechless to express what strong impact it had on me, like the world stopped for a sec, like... I really am speechless. thanks for creating such magic. All the best and Keep on amazing us :)
