      yeah totally agree. I was wondering the difference between both the pedals, and he really nails it in this review. The Super sweet is really more about gain. The EP sounds like the one for me. I prefer hanging around in the light gain areas with the right amount of bass boost/cut, high boost/cut.

    Talk about “sleeper pedals”! I love everything Xotic do, I have loads of their pedals and they are just great, but they are not “fashionable” these days, so get largely ignored by the home playing masses……..but check out most pro players’ boards and you’ll see at least one, often two , Xotic pedals on there, hidden away, and for very good reason! (I have 6 Xotic pedals on my board at the moment 😂 : RC, BB, Super Clean, EP, RoboTalk 2, and Wah. Love them all, and I may get a Super Sweet too! )

    Thanks Simon for this very informative video. I'm glad you took the time to demonstrate that, unlike the EP, the Super sweet won't boost your sound when the gain is at 0. I'm going to give the Super Sweet a try. I've been using the RC for several years as an end of chain solo boost, but I've been meaning to try something that can give me just the right amount of mids to cut through when needed, especially when using the AC Booster. I'm a big fan of the Xotic products as well, and I have found many of your previous videos helpful and entertaining. Cheers!

    for me, I prefer the hi's of the super sweet. my amp can be a bit dark and i'm often looking for top end. also preferred your tone with hi's, though, each has their own tone. Hi Simon,
    Just discovered your channel and really loving it!
    I too have had the EP for ages and think it is excellent, placing it after drives. I am wondering how would the two sound with EP after and SSB before drives (mostly using the SL drive).
    May I ask how have you set the dip switches for the EP in the video?

      I often use the SS in front of my drive and ep after. I love that and they compliment each other in a great way.
      You can hear something like that in my video about the Super sweet and Super Clean boosters.
      Cheers Simon

    Hey Simon, great tones! I have the EP and have been thinking about trying the SS for a thinner, more neutral tone. Is your bassman plugged into a cab or are you capturing it with a load and IRs, etc? If it's a cab, which one and which speakers? Sounds absolutely killer, especially when you first kicked on that EP!

      Simon Gotthelf Gear Demos I agree!! I’ve listened/watched this demo numerous times still can’t decide which one I like better.... might have to get both 😁

    I think I would have rather seen the EP vs. the Super Clean (less gain than the Super Sweet).

      @SimonGotthelfMusic  5 лет назад +1

      Well, sound is basically the same but you are right. They are closer in gain levels (12db and 15 db from memory). But I wanted to show that you can get more gain from the Super Sweet. Cheers Simon

    You're playing a little bit different on each pedal. It seems you are squeezing the note more with the EP

    The EP booster on your video gives more character than the Super Sweet - if I wanted more gain I'd use an overdrive on top of the EP. For basic cleanish sound the EP alone is better. YMMV, obviously. Best, Pete.

      ptrisonic Definetly more warm character with the ep. SS is more versatile though. And the ep after an overdrive is just killer. Cheers Simon

    I never understood why many people like them? There are no eq knobs on those pedals. If you have an great amp tone it does not matter, but some people have really crapy amps.. those pedals would make them even sound worse.

    • @SimonGotthelfMusic
      @SimonGotthelfMusic  5 лет назад +1

      N Hoekstra I love these pedals and they work with all my amps. If you want EQ options the super sweet has the switches and if more is needed then the RC booster is probably more what you want. Cheers

      @@SimonGotthelfMusic Well I might try one then haha. What does the gain knob on the super clean buffer? Does it give more gain or volume or increase the buffer output? I know clean boost pedals and buffer pedals but this one seems a combination of both?

    • @SimonGotthelfMusic
      @SimonGotthelfMusic  5 лет назад

      N Hoekstra It is a combination of booster and buffer so it adds gain but less gain compared to the Super Sweet. Cheers

      @@SimonGotthelfMusic Thank you! Seems nice combining two pedals into one. One more question. Live I use longer cables so the buffer will be helpful. At home I use short cables. Can the buffer turned off? So when using shorter cables it is just a clean boost pedal without buffer.

    • @SimonGotthelfMusic
      @SimonGotthelfMusic  5 лет назад +1

      N Hoekstra In the super sweet and super clean there is an internal switch to turn the buffer on/off. I would just keep it on at all times though 😊
