Only ever got average 200 miles, EV manufacturers give a range completely unattainable. Wait till the range is 400+ miles of real range. I now have a PHEV.
So I'm thinking of getting one of these in a year or so, I'm researching in to EVs and this has to be one of the better looking ones VS price. A few questions for current owners; 1. How is the ride quality overall? 2. What is the fit and finish like, is it as solid as a BMW? 3. Has it been reliable? Did you need to make use of the warranty from Jag, if so what was your experience of the dealership? 4. Would you recommend a Merc/BMW driver to get this Jag? TIA Harry
If you are in the UK, stay away as the after sales service is pathetic. Great car to drive, but when something goes wrong you are left high and dry. Mine is sitting on the drive at the moment not going anywhere.
It needs to increase horse power from 400 to 500, increase range by 100 miles, increase fast charging capability from 100KWV to 200Kwv. Front passenger seat needs to go flat. and if possible battery weight needs to go down then it will smash the competition again.
i think i-pace is best non tesla EV on the market, i think the audi q4 e-tron is best looking of its rivals but that is very slow & only 2 wheel drive unless you get the sportback for an extra 20 grand, the beamer & merc versions are too plain & boring, jaguar has got it spot on with the i-pace as it has the range, the looks, and the performance where as the german 3 have only got 2 of the 3.
They built this car so that you have to go for the options hence the bad view from the rear view window hence you have to pay out for a rear view camera on your rear view mirror, it's how car companies make their money at the cost of the buyer.
The biggest issue with these then is having to pull off a motorway or other road, open the front boot and check for text messages. In other news, I drove one 18 months ago across Picadilly Circus. The left rear dropeed a wheel over a manhole cover and it was still sickeningly rocking diagonally a mile later. Funny the things you remember.
I've heard stories of owners managing somehow to damage the battery cover under the car - and being hit with a stupid £60k bill to replace it. If true - this 100% rules this car out for me!.
I would love to ev BUT so far no one can confirm decent millage when towing a caravan and to charge on public charging points you would need to uncouple the outfit i should say the EV i pace would make excellent tow car
Every review on electric cars that I’ve seen so far have convinced me of one thing. The combustion engine still has nothing to fear for a few years. Range, ludicrous charging times, fiddly gadgets and menus and the prices. Eventually when charging times and ranges can echo what combustion engines do then I’m onboard. But for now I’ll stay old school.
Yeah and how's that treating you with fuel prices rocketing, you know, being a limited resource and all that jazz? A limited resource dictators can control. Or maybe you enjoy queuing up at forecourts every time people freak out. Plus fiddly touchscreens aren't exclusive to EVs, they're the future of car systems in general theses days. Electric cars don't *need* to match ICE range for range, because most charging is done overnight and 99% of trips are within round-trip range. People who have never driven one for a month don't understand just how convenient this is.
The haha-I-can-only-fit-my-phone-in-this-frunk gag kinda loses its charm when the phone literally disappears in there as you throw it in. The frunk, or froot, is great for keeping your charging cables without needing to lift up everything in the boot to get to them. Nice for travelling. Or if you're paying for parking anyway, and you're staying a while, why not fill up the battery while you're at it? Not so easy if your charging cable is under a bunch of luggage in the under-floor storage compartment in the back. I do keep the emergency charger in there, but I've never used it.
My iPace is a dream to drive, especially long road trips. Totally let down by poor after sales service and patronisinig dealerships that make out every issue with the car to be the customer's problems. So sadly, I can only advise avoid buying this great car, due to the near non existent after sales service.
Everyone mentions the brilliant Tesla charging network but neglects to mention that that only applies within 50 miles of London, check the network north of Edinburgh! You could also look at the charging points in a small Northern county like Yorkshire.
because their superchargers are on the motorways for long distance travel and if you look at their charger locations map they are NOT just 50 miles around London
You don't need loads of SuCs. You need enough to be able travel and stop on major routes, and when you need them you need lots of them in one place, not one or two in several places (due to queueing theory), and you need them to be fast and powerful. That's what Tesla has - relatively few, but big sites, stocked with high power (mostly 250kW and 350kW now), located along major routes. There are more SuCs around London because that's where most of the Model S and X cars were historically sold. I live in South Yorkshire, so interestingly I don't need any SuCs in Yorkshire as my starting range of 250+ miles is almost always going to get me to my destination, but even if I did need a SuC, there are now a lot more Super Charger stations (in south Yorkshire) than there were 18 months ago and many more are already being built; and of course they need to be because they are selling 10's of thousands on Model 3s. And that is why I travel the country with a very high degree of confidence that I will have NO charging qualms or worries. I just couldn't say that about any other EV at the moment, and that is why Tesla charging network is so critical.
I just checked the map and Yorkshire and Edinburgh have plenty of superchargers, so what are you on about? North of Edinburgh are even more chargers! Loads! Are you looking at the same map? Just Google supercharger map!
Nice car but let's look at the practicality (to be fair this applies to all EVs)... Range 292 miles, let's say 300 for ease of calculation, that's 480km. I live in an apartment, no possibility for outdoor charging and there are no charging points on my daily 50km each way drive to work. Basically I could pay something like €80,000 for a car I could use for four days before it would be dead to me. No thanks.
The fact there are no charging points at all within 50 km of you is unfortunate but it just means the car isn't for you. It'll still be perfect for others though.

@@scottwills4698 Just as a fully loaded Sonata never ever took sales from a base XJ, so will this. I can see the logic you’re applying, but sales don’t work that way because psychology doesn’t. It’s a proven fact.
@@afcgeo882 why are all the BMW drivers moving to Tesla? I see your point, brand loyalty but the XJ was a better car to the sonata. The Ioniq 5 and EV6 are technically better products than the ipace.
@@scottwills4698 My point was never brand loyalty, so no, you clearly don’t see my point. I know this because you asked the question, “why are BMW owners moving to Teslas.” Why? Both are luxury performance vehicles, that’s why. They’re in the same class.
Now you answer my question: Why aren’t Mercedes owners looking at Renaults?
Or... Why did Hyundai create a separate brand for its luxury cars: Genesis?
Oh and no, 😂, the Ioniq and EV6 aren’t better cars than the iPace. You only see what you see because you’re not wealthy enough to buy an iPace the way you would an Ioniq or EV6.
I’m not sure why you would mark down the ipace for not having 7 seats, it’s not pretending to be one
Still the best looking EV SUV out there! Understated design that works! Most of the alternatives IMO are quite ugly. Must have the larger wheels though..smaller ones look lost.
Only ever got average 200 miles, EV manufacturers give a range completely unattainable. Wait till the range is 400+ miles of real range. I now have a PHEV.
Electric charging . U should only needed post code and reg number to be billed to your home account then it will fly
Soon I’ll drive this car
The all electric Mercedes glb is coming out soon. So that will probably be about 50-55k. A lot cheaper than a Tesla model x.
So I'm thinking of getting one of these in a year or so, I'm researching in to EVs and this has to be one of the better looking ones VS price.
A few questions for current owners;
TIA
Harry
If you are in the UK, stay away as the after sales service is pathetic. Great car to drive, but when something goes wrong you are left high and dry. Mine is sitting on the drive at the moment not going anywhere.
@@gslongdistance That's a shame, thanks for the heads up and yes I'm in the UK.
Great car!
So BMW a better car but ugly, Jag a little bit pricey but beautiful!
Could we have an electric E type Jag please? A vintage one drove past me here the other day. Doubt a more beautiful car has ever been made.
For about 120K you can convert one (including the purchase of a barn find).
Price dropped like a bomb
It needs to increase horse power from 400 to 500, increase range by 100 miles, increase fast charging capability from 100KWV to 200Kwv. Front passenger seat needs to go flat. and if possible battery weight needs to go down then it will smash the competition again.

Thanks for a great review. I'm an I Pace fan.
That was a really good review, thank you.
British car firm, car built buy Magna Steyer in Austria and owned by Indian conglomerate TaTa. They really need to improve efficiency.
I don't see an I-pace with more than 240 miles of range. Where is the 296 miles of range coming from?
i think i-pace is best non tesla EV on the market, i think the audi q4 e-tron is best looking of its rivals but that is very slow & only 2 wheel drive unless you get the sportback for an extra 20 grand, the beamer & merc versions are too plain & boring, jaguar has got it spot on with the i-pace as it has the range, the looks, and the performance where as the german 3 have only got 2 of the 3.
Great review and lots of information
They built this car so that you have to go for the options hence the bad view from the rear view window hence you have to pay out for a rear view camera on your rear view mirror, it's how car companies make their money at the cost of the buyer.
I don't have the rear mirror option and the 360 degree camera's are amazing so no complaints here
Our base VW Polo 1.0 has a larger touch screen with Apple Car Play and it is not laggy.
Also made as an off road vehicle... goes where a Land Rover will go!
The question is... is that a proper Jaaaag 🙈🤷♂️...
Still better off just getting a Model 3/Y LR :P
I've heard stories of owners managing somehow to damage the battery cover under the car - and being hit with a stupid £60k bill to replace it. If true - this 100% rules this car out for me!.
Ohhh, "stories"! Definitely the best way to inform $80,000 purchases!
Cool car. It's like a 2016 Infiniti QX30 with an electric motor.
I would love to ev BUT so far no one can confirm decent millage when towing a caravan and to charge on public charging points you would need to uncouple the outfit i should say the EV i pace
would make excellent tow car
I'm never going back to ICE. What a scam fossil power is. Stay 'old school', and get gouged.
This and the Honda E are the only electric cars I find remotely desirable.
Just Google supercharger map!
audio is slightly out of sinc
How about the width and tinning circle? Will it go through a 6 6 width restriction?
Nice car but let's look at the practicality (to be fair this applies to all EVs)... Range 292 miles, let's say 300 for ease of calculation, that's 480km. I live in an apartment, no possibility for outdoor charging and there are no charging points on my daily 50km each way drive to work. Basically I could pay something like €80,000 for a car I could use for four days before it would be dead to me. No thanks.
The fact there are no charging points at all within 50 km of you is unfortunate but it just means the car isn't for you. It'll still be perfect for others though.
Regen braking 'like every other EV' - not quite. VW, for some reason, does not give single pedal driving. Despite this being a major advantage of EVs!
Why are they not reviewing the hse
The big question, battery life
Similar prismatic cells to a BMW i3. Based on evidence to date, 20+ years.
Good value for who ?
Fabulous car
