Great review! LOVE our 2019 I-Pace. We’re a 2 Jag family, our other is a 2017 XE. Both have been problem free, only visits to dealer are for the free scheduled maintenance, I think the stigma of unreliable is just that. The I-Pace is a spectacular vehicle. I still get excited to drive it.
Every single manufacturer has group's of people screaming about its unreliability. The majority is based off of 25 to 50 years ago issues. None of it matters.
I have a 2020 I-Pace in Ceasium Blue, and I'm very happy with it. Apart from the touch software which is snappier in the 2022, I don't see much to get me to upgrade, which is fine. We live near Seattle (Whidbey Island), and the rarity of this model and the really nice color gets positive comments every time I take it out. It's a dark horse though - many people have no idea how fun it is to drive, and everything I need to get to, is well within 100 miles, so I always charge at home.

I’ve had mine since early 2019. It’s been a great car. It could benefit from 800v charging, but there hasn’t been anything to come out that’s been compelling enough for me to switch.
I'm on the 2019 ipace bandwagon as well. I've been extremely impressed with how it's performed in the real world being limited to 100 KW/hour charging speeds. I take trips down to Portland roughly monthly and have very few problems with any of the charging networks. I've actually been able to outperform the EPA range at highway speeds- 5 mph seems to be the efficiency sweet spot. My most recent trip Seattle and Portland I was able to pull just under 31 kwh/100 miles at a constant 65 mph, giving me an equivalent of over 275 miles on a full charge. I got to Portland with at least a 30% charge and didn't have to worry about recharging until my departure in the next day. I've learned that the adaptive cruise control is better than I am at managing power consumption.
Normally Jaguar / LandRover is one of the few car makers to offer a full size spare wheel, on the F-Pace for example. But as Tom says, manufacturers seem to think EVs never get a flat tire so 99% of them don't even get a (temporary) spare as an option.
A spare tire is heavy and will affect range and storage space. They should offer it as a free option but market the "with-spare" option with the reduced range.
It’s a packaging thing, isn’t it? Most of the underfloor area is used for batteries, so the obvious spare areas are taken. Granted, it could easily be solved, but at what compromise? Years of runflats have conditioned customers not to expect spares anymore. Personally I always want to have one, but it’s not a surprise to see it absent here.
I don't see how anyone could sit in this, then sit in a Model Y, and come to the conclusion they are in any way remotely comparable vehicles. This thing is FIVE years old now and its looks, power, range, and interior stack up well to Mercedes' new EQB EV SUV. Although nobody buys it; I think history will show this was probably the very best all around EV of its era. Its only competition when it came out was from Tesla and those have horrible interiors and construction quality, offsetting their range advantage. Not to mention this actually drives like a Jag, something no Tesla will ever be able to. Ford Mach E is now a competitor but its interior, while not as horrible as Tesla, is still inferior to the Jag.
I totally agree. I think the main reason the I-Pace didn’t sell as well as it should have is its target demographic wasn’t ready. The early EV adopters have been tech bros and they were more interested in stats and gimmicks than build quality and refinement.
Tesla is one of the least reliable brands in US so reliability doesn't seem to be a reason. this car looks gorgeous and runs unlike anything out there. So there is definitely something about marketing thats fooling people.
Hey guys, I have been driving a Jaguar I Pace since 2019 and have loved every minute. EPA range of 246 miles, 4 wheel drive, dual motors. Amazing handing and acceleration. Pure luxury (leather seats, etc). Ahead of its time design that many recent cross over SUV's are copying. Software was upgraded several years ago and is quick and responsive. Jaguar has made the car nearly fully loaded in its only (HSE) model. Price competitive with other high luxury marks. A car that won every award on introduction, but does not get the respect in the US that the rest of the world gives. Worth a look.
i-Pace was extremely succesful when it came out here in The Netherlands in 2018. Then competition appeared and now it's selling at about 1 car per month.
Really appreciate this review. We had a 2019 and it was an awful experience. So many bugs, and getting timely service was really difficult from our only Jag dealership in the county. Service dept had it more than we did, and JLR eventually bought it back. As you said, it really soured me on the brand. Nice to see they're trying to improve. We got a Mach-E now and I always compare it to the iPace in terms of comfort and driving dynamics, saying the iPace was my favorite handling vehicle. LOVED driving it...just too bad the software was abysmal. Given the choice right now I'd still pick the Mach-E, but this review made me think that in 2 years when my time is up with with Mustang I'll circle back to see what the 2024 iPace is up to.
Agree with your range related comments. Plus Jag is still better than Volvo,VW id4, and Audi Etron tank, and I’ve seen I-Pace MY23 range estimates now around 250. I’ll take that, albeit with the DC fast charging would have improved from 100 kw to at least 150 kw.

234 is not bad range. Audi etron (very popular road trip EV) has aroudn 204?, and most people that go on trips (watch EV road trips) will usually go around 100-150 miles between charges. Biggest problem is that last I heard, it only charges to 120kw max charge speed (though again, etron maxes at only 150, and newer ID.4 at 125 last I heard, so, again, IPace not so bad.
Hopefully JLR can repair their reputation with QC. Thanks again for Mr. Campbell for helping out with these reviews. Oh, the visual aid was way better than demonstrating with water.
Believe it or not, but Tesla has about 25% more failures in the first 100 days of ownership then bottom rated Audi and Jaguar. We have 2 iPaces and they rock.
Best EV now after the facelift, I prefer the better drive, design and quality than a few more miles and the ClearSight rear view mirror camera system is fab Although if you choose 18 inch rather than the bigger options you can gain between 20-30 miles and it makes it ride miles better and quieter too I love the start / stop button as it’s a car not a white goods and I love that extra layer of intrinsic safety too Now even handier in the UK too now you can use all those empty ranks of Tesla Charging Stations you see, that work very well tho Great for half the price of a Porsche Taycan Cross Tourismo 4S 🚙👍🏻
I agree, smaller wheels give better range and softer ride. I love my 2019 I-Pace on 18" rims. 2023 configuration in USA offers 20" or 22". Wonderful car. Great review.
The troubles suffered by early adopters may have hurt early sales. But now I'm wondering if slow sales are a blessing. You simply don't see the Jaguar I-Pace at every intersection. Exclusivity may lead to better build quality, while giving the few owners of the I-Pace an ego boost. Seems that enough time has passed to allow Jaguar to tweak the electronics. Every vehicle is a compromise, but in the case of the Jaguar I-Pace the compromising works in it's favor. Btw, my credit score emoji says, "keep dreaming". Great review, thank you Tom.
You understand that sometimes you have to compromise for Toy Value. To me, toy value is made of the elements for which you Love the car over others, not those that can be compared with math or other metrics. So, it includes beauty, driving dynamics, sound, etc. Harry Metcalf and you have this in common, which is high praise. I have my usual Jag reservations - especially after blowing up the cooling system on my buddy’s jag for “going over 90mph”. But, for the reasons you list, I’m still considering it. We drive a Yukon, Macan and Boxster. See what I mean?
Like you, I'm stunned that this car isn't more popular even when you take its range into account. What a great design and, from what I hear everywhere, it drives like few other EVs in its class. If I were in the market for an upscale luxury EV, this would be at the top of my list. Still, like too many cars, dependence on touch screens seems to be shortsighted and needlessly fussy. No one should have to take their eyes off the road for adjust the fan speed or defroster. It looks cool, but please, function over form at all times.
Now if Jaguar added (1) Lithium iron phosphate batteries for range, (2) change the infotainment software to something snappy and faster and (3) use 800 volt architecture for fast charging, they'd have a winner. Also Telsa has an excellent Advanced Driver Assist System it's not quite on the fully autonomous level. It's not true autopilot. Excellent video!!! I'd buy one.
Iron Phosphate would be heavier.... you've swallowed the Tesla PR there kid. Its just a cheaper technology over NMC and has a weight penalty and allows to spin the no cobalt angle. 800V still needs the cells to have the same current as they all site 3/4-4.1V, you'll want that NMC tech not LFP for fast charging so make your mind up...

I really want one of these but they didn't make many of them this year and they are really hard to find. Plus, Jaguar seems to discourage dealers from selling out of state making it even harder. I can order one but the dealer wants a hefty non refundable deposit and the wait could be quite a while. Availablity of CPO ones specced are pretty thing with dealers asking $$$ for them. Too bad because it checks pretty much all my boxes for what Im looking for in my next vehicle: looks great, fun to drive, practical, comfortable and nice interior (inlcuding really nice leather), decent ergonomics and storage, reasonable room and comfort in the rear seat and all the features i want are pretty much standard. I was suprised at how much I liked this car both on paper and during my test drive considering its been out longer than pretty much all the long range EVs except Model S and X.

Tom kudos for getting me to watch an entire video on a car that I dont really like. The production value of your videos and story telling makes for a great experience. When Jaguar changes the exterior form factor on this model, I think they will have a winner.
The iPace will find it tough selling against newer high tech competitors like the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, and the new Genesis models. They don't seem to have developed or evolved the car as much as they perhaps ought to have done in the time it's been on sale. Given todays trend for SUV's, you'd have thought Jaguar might have fully electrified one of theirs, but they haven't. They are offering plug in hybrids though...
When I sat in one of these, the thing that really jumped out at me was the "coffin like" feel of the interior. The windows just aren't that tall, and there are some massive blind spots in the rear. It's almost claustriphobic. Really can't understand how you can start with a blank sheet of paper and create such an unpleasant interior space. - For reference, my "gold standard" for outward visibility is the Subaru STI. It's a greenhouse, when excellent visibility all around (even throught the rear fin!). Not only is visibility a safety issue, but it's a huge enjoyment issue. When you are driving those back roads, or through Yellow stone, it's nice to be able to see out and soak in the view.
With the amount of TP you have to buy for each of these reviews, are you singularly responsible for the TP shortages over the past few years? Is your house built of TP? 😂
What range is the 2023 expected to have? Is the voice recognition expected to improve? We have a 2019 and these are two features we hope are being improved.
Is it enough.... NO ! MY20 in my drive will likely be replaced by a Fisker or other - I actually love the i-pace, just a shame JLR does not with a range increase

Hey Tom, nice review! You say the I-PACE charging has improved but it wasn't exactly clear how? Home charging or road trip charging? Both? Agreed that the color of your test vehicle isn't the top choice for most people. I've seen a few in town and they can stop you in your tracks with the right colors and the big wheels.
I loved my 2019 I-PACE. It's the best driving EV next to the Taycan. Unfortunately I had to lemon it because of the unreliable HVAC. Imagine driving in over 90 degree heat in the desert without AC. Now driving a leased 2022 C40 until Volvo/Polestar makes a bespoke EV. 10:00 & 14:00 World class voice recognition? It has Alexa now, unlike BMW or Audi.

@@CrazyWeeMonkey I had one and it was buggier than Windows Vista. Spent weeks at a time in service. One time with about 500 miles on the car we were driving and all the screens went black and the heat turned itself on High and you couldn't turn it off (cuz all the climate controls were on the dead screen)...and it was raining so we couldn't roll the windows down. Tried power cycling the car and waited overnight but it kept happening so we had to immediately drive it to the dealer sweating our asses off inside with no functional infotainment or gauge cluster 😆. Of course the dealer service was backed up and couldn't even look at it for weeks...no loaner either. JLR eventually bought it back.
Wonder if it’s full time awd and that’s behind the low mi/kWh? Why don’t EVs learn the lesson of gas cars and cutout one motor when it’s not needed? Seems they went to great lengths for an aerodynamic body, but the drivetrain must be hurting the range.

Great review Tom, I’d written off the Ipace on price and charge speed. But you make a good point about the piloting and that interior is truly luxurious- I guess we are talking leather and suede? I would love to hear your view on how this compares to the new Genesis GV60. On the surface some of the issues; sun shade, rear window blinds, fast charging and range are addressed by the GV60 but I wonder how the handling compares. The GV60 adds some impressive tech like facial recognition, finger print identification and digital wing mirrors( if that’s your thing). But the Ipace still has that off road ace up its sleeve. Such choice in the EV world - a very exciting time for buyers.
For me the ipace is a halo much wanted luxury EV that I cannot afford, so a second hand buy. In Australia EVs are late to come, so it'll be a while before the second hand cost is sane $99k for a very old one, the same crazy prices for model s.
Considering some competitors have auto-dimming glass, I don't get how it's an omission and the solution is a flimsy shade for $210. Not very luxurious imo.
Imho IPace is an awesome EV and Jag’s marketing and production capabilities is below average. Maybe Jag wants it that way. If IPace had a Tesla emblem on it, it be selling a ton more!
Short answer NO it hasn’t fixed it’s odd look, still no rear wiper an essential in snow country, and still no increase in battery size or real world range, especially in America the high speed 70mph 250 mile range and a higher recharge speed is a must especially with newer cars offering 400-800v is a must
Can't believe, with the 90k battery that they still can't get anymore range out of it then 225 +\- miles. Regardless of how beautiful the interior and how cat like they handle, that low range in today's competitive EV world, that is a deal breaker if you wish to replace your road tripping family ICE car with an EV. The slower changing is also something needs to be updated. Jag needs to get off their butt and make every effort to get range up to at least 300 miles and change the charging system to catch up to all the competitors.
Electrics from Lexus, Volvo, Audi have similar ranges. Also, make sure you are comparing to a dual motor vehicle with similar awesome road performance.

I generally lease, and have had 2 XFs, 1 F-Type, and Evoque, and the I-Pace, and have had no issues, keeping each one for around 3 years. I think the model before the 2000s had issues, especially while Ford ran the design, but since then, no major issues above those of other premium car makers.

It's a nice car on the in- and outside, but it's not really what I associate with Jaguar somehow. This model really can be of different brands, and when I saw it first here in Antwerp, I first thought it was a new Japanese car. Definetely not a Jag. Quousque tandem abutere, Catilina....
Unless an electric vehicle has a range of at least 300 miles, I am not interested. I hear horror stories of having to wait in lines to get a charge. I just put a deposit down for the Cadillac Lyriq which is estimated at over 300 miles per charge.
@@gerradwalker6222 I don't need a separate key fob to unlock the door. I don't need to press an uneccessary start button to turn it on. I don't need to lock it when I leave the car. It's faster, the regenerative braking is much better and brings the car to a complete halt. It holds the car when facing both uphill (like the Jag) but also downhill. It's slightly quieter, has a slightly smoother ride and more predictable handling round corners, due to it being considerably lighter and lower. The screen and software are years ahead of the Jag and I get OTA updates about every three weeks. Then there is the Supercharger network which makes long trips no hassle at all and the efficiency and charging speeds are way, way ahead of the I-Pace. Tesla will probably produce about 1.5 million electric cars this year, Jaguar as a brand will be lucky to sell one tenth of this number which might tell you something about the popularity of Tesla If you get the chance go and drive one, it's just a better experience.
I don’t need or want a car that starts, locks, and drives itself … nor do I want a car with a tacky iPad glued to the dashboard as an infotainment screen … nor do I want all that glass and glare directly in front of me and over me… what I do want is a good shaded instrument panel directly in front of me like the I-Pace has … and no way I’m giving any money to anything run by Musk
The reason nobody buys this car us nicely explained in your video, starting at about the two minute mark. The IPace has a 90 kWh battery pack and gives you (as little as) 222 miles of range. The Model Y has a 75 kWh pack and gives you (depending on configuration) well over 300 miles of range.
Great review. The Jag is gorgeous inside and out. But it’s also very inefficient with no benefit. Yes, many luxury cars can be gas guzzlers but there’s often a reason, such as insane performance, towing, or off-road chops. The Jag has nothing to offer beyond its looks. That 44kwh efficiency is horrible. Given the size of the car and battery, the car should have much longer range. Hopefully they revamp their motors and other components to make it a more competitive vehicle.
It's more luxurious than fast-charging Ioniq 5. And designed for off-road more than Ioniq (for example Ipace wading depth 500mm vs about half that). And will beat current fastest version Ioniq for performance on a track (faster 0-60, higher top speed, faster 1/4 mile, higher lateral acceleration, shorter braking distance etc are all better in ipace). Ev-database gives the Ipace longer real-world range! And only 17% worse efficiency
Nope , all new EVs at this price range have far faster charging capabilities. I love the ipace very disappointed in the fool hardy decision not to improve charging speed especially as it's not that efficient and charging curve is pretty bad too.
I drove this before purchasing my Model X several years ago. Back then, it was being directly compared to the model X because the Model Y didn't exist yet. It wasn't competitive. Not even close. This is much more in-line with the Model Y. Both are hatchbacks, and neither is really a legit luxury vehicle. They both fall squarely in the "premium" category. On the downside, the Jag much more conventional and ordinary than the Y. It also doesn't charge as fast and has an inferior charging network for road trips. On the plus side, it has some real off-road capabilities that the Tesla doesn't offer. Though, having owned several Range Rovers/Land Rovers, I don't think I can go back to the JLR brand again. They are far too buggy and unreliable.
Where does his car stand out in comparison to a Tesla or any other EV other than it is a Jaguar and offers some nice luxury that can be delivered also by a ICE car but without the downsides? Afaik Jaguar didn’t even deliver on the promise of OTA updates, so why should anybody trust them in that matter. This shows they don’t care for their customers.

I looked at the configurator, and they have a reduced weight option but it sits in the cargo area.

Agree with your range related comments. Plus Jag is still better than Volvo,VW id4, and Audi Etron tank, and I’ve seen I-Pace MY23 range estimates now around 250. I’ll take that, albeit with the DC fast charging would have improved from 100 kw to at least 150 kw.

234 is not bad range. Audi etron (very popular road trip EV) has aroudn 204?, and most people that go on trips (watch EV road trips) will usually go around 100-150 miles between charges. Biggest problem is that last I heard, it only charges to 120kw max charge speed (though again, etron maxes at only 150, and newer ID.4 at 125 last I heard, so, again, IPace not so bad.
Official specs not out yet, but pretty sure Audi and Jag ev range will be higher, certainly the ETron.
Hopefully JLR can repair their reputation with QC. Thanks again for Mr. Campbell for helping out with these reviews. Oh, the visual aid was way better than demonstrating with water.
Believe it or not, but Tesla has about 25% more failures in the first 100 days of ownership then bottom rated Audi and Jaguar. We have 2 iPaces and they rock.

These still go for well over $50k used, and seem to sit on lots. This might be a nice upgrade to my i3 in a few years.

The troubles suffered by early adopters may have hurt early sales. But now I'm wondering if slow sales are a blessing. You simply don't see the Jaguar I-Pace at every intersection. Exclusivity may lead to better build quality, while giving the few owners of the I-Pace an ego boost. Seems that enough time has passed to allow Jaguar to tweak the electronics. Every vehicle is a compromise, but in the case of the Jaguar I-Pace the compromising works in it's favor. Btw, my credit score emoji says, "keep dreaming". Great review, thank you Tom.

You understand that sometimes you have to compromise for Toy Value. To me, toy value is made of the elements for which you Love the car over others, not those that can be compared with math or other metrics. So, it includes beauty, driving dynamics, sound, etc. Harry Metcalf and you have this in common, which is high praise. I have my usual Jag reservations - especially after blowing up the cooling system on my buddy’s jag for “going over 90mph”. But, for the reasons you list, I’m still considering it. We drive a Yukon, Macan and Boxster. See what I mean?

Like you, I'm stunned that this car isn't more popular even when you take its range into account. What a great design and, from what I hear everywhere, it drives like few other EVs in its class. If I were in the market for an upscale luxury EV, this would be at the top of my list. Still, like too many cars, dependence on touch screens seems to be shortsighted and needlessly fussy. No one should have to take their eyes off the road for adjust the fan speed or defroster. It looks cool, but please, function over form at all times.
Now if Jaguar added (1) Lithium iron phosphate batteries for range, (2) change the infotainment software to something snappy and faster and (3) use 800 volt architecture for fast charging, they'd have a winner.
Also Telsa has an excellent Advanced Driver Assist System it's not quite on the fully autonomous level. It's not true autopilot. Excellent video!!!

Iron Phosphate would be heavier.... you've swallowed the Tesla PR there kid. Its just a cheaper technology over NMC and has a weight penalty and allows to spin the no cobalt angle. 800V still needs the cells to have the same current as they all site 3/4-4.1V, you'll want that NMC tech not LFP for fast charging so make your mind up...

225 miles of range with a 90kwh battery? the 77kwh EV6 AWD gets 274 miles... what gives?
I really want one of these but they didn't make many of them this year and they are really hard to find. Plus, Jaguar seems to discourage dealers from selling out of state making it even harder. I can order one but the dealer wants a hefty non refundable deposit and the wait could be quite a while. Availablity of CPO ones specced are pretty thing with dealers asking $$$ for them. Too bad because it checks pretty much all my boxes for what Im looking for in my next vehicle: looks great, fun to drive, practical, comfortable and nice interior (inlcuding really nice leather), decent ergonomics and storage, reasonable room and comfort in the rear seat and all the features i want are pretty much standard. I was suprised at how much I liked this car both on paper and during my test drive considering its been out longer than pretty much all the long range EVs except Model S and X.

The iPace will find it tough selling against newer high tech competitors like the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, and the new Genesis models. They don't seem to have developed or evolved the car as much as they perhaps ought to have done in the time it's been on sale. Given todays trend for SUV's, you'd have thought Jaguar might have fully electrified one of theirs, but they haven't. They are offering plug in hybrids though...
When I sat in one of these, the thing that really jumped out at me was the "coffin like" feel of the interior. The windows just aren't that tall, and there are some massive blind spots in the rear. It's almost claustriphobic. Really can't understand how you can start with a blank sheet of paper and create such an unpleasant interior space.

For reference, my "gold standard" for outward visibility is the Subaru STI. It's a greenhouse, when excellent visibility all around (even throught the rear fin!). Not only is visibility a safety issue, but it's a huge enjoyment issue. When you are driving those back roads, or through Yellow stone, it's nice to be able to see out and soak in the view.
With the amount of TP you have to buy for each of these reviews, are you singularly responsible for the TP shortages over the past few years? Is your house built of TP? 😂
What range is the 2023 expected to have? Is the voice recognition expected to improve? We have a 2019 and these are two features we hope are being improved.

Agreed that the color of your test vehicle isn't the top choice for most people. I've seen a few in town and they can stop you in your tracks with the right colors and the big wheels.
At about 7:40 he mentions the onboard charger increased from 7 kW to 11 kW. I have a 2019 and would love the better charging rate.
I loved my 2019 I-PACE. It's the best driving EV next to the Taycan. Unfortunately I had to lemon it because of the unreliable HVAC. Imagine driving in over 90 degree heat in the desert without AC. Now driving a leased 2022 C40 until Volvo/Polestar makes a bespoke EV.
10:00 & 14:00 World class voice recognition? It has Alexa now, unlike BMW or Audi.
Audi E-tron has good looks, unlike I-Pace and Polestar.
Love this car...needs panoramic sunroof at that price point. Reliability and weak dealer network are main concerns for me.
After 4 production years it's probably more reliable than the average brand new to the market unproven EV. Finding a dealer can indeed be difficult.

@@CrazyWeeMonkey I had one and it was buggier than Windows Vista. Spent weeks at a time in service. One time with about 500 miles on the car we were driving and all the screens went black and the heat turned itself on High and you couldn't turn it off (cuz all the climate controls were on the dead screen)...and it was raining so we couldn't roll the windows down. Tried power cycling the car and waited overnight but it kept happening so we had to immediately drive it to the dealer sweating our asses off inside with no functional infotainment or gauge cluster 😆. Of course the dealer service was backed up and couldn't even look at it for weeks...no loaner either. JLR eventually bought it back.

I would love to hear your view on how this compares to the new Genesis GV60.
On the surface some of the issues; sun shade, rear window blinds, fast charging and range are addressed by the GV60 but I wonder how the handling compares.
The GV60 adds some impressive tech like facial recognition, finger print identification and digital wing mirrors( if that’s your thing).
But the Ipace still has that off road ace up its sleeve.
Such choice in the EV world - a very exciting time for buyers.

For me the ipace is a halo much wanted luxury EV that I cannot afford, so a second hand buy.
In Australia EVs are late to come, so it'll be a while before the second hand cost is sane $99k for a very old one, the same crazy prices for model s.
Considering some competitors have auto-dimming glass, I don't get how it's an omission and the solution is a flimsy shade for $210. Not very luxurious imo.

Imho IPace is an awesome EV and Jag’s marketing and production capabilities is below average. Maybe Jag wants it that way. If IPace had a Tesla emblem on it, it be selling a ton more!
Short answer NO it hasn’t fixed it’s odd look, still no rear wiper an essential in snow country, and still no increase in battery size or real world range, especially in America the high speed 70mph 250 mile range and a higher recharge speed is a must especially with newer cars offering 400-800v is a must

Can't believe, with the 90k battery that they still can't get anymore range out of it then 225 +\- miles. Regardless of how beautiful the interior and how cat like they handle, that low range in today's competitive EV world, that is a deal breaker if you wish to replace your road tripping family ICE car with an EV. The slower changing is also something needs to be updated. Jag needs to get off their butt and make every effort to get range up to at least 300 miles and change the charging system to catch up to all the competitors.
Electrics from Lexus, Volvo, Audi have similar ranges. Also, make sure you are comparing to a dual motor vehicle with similar awesome road performance.
Regarding the spare wheel.... With a 2.5 tonne car with incredibly heavy wheels, changing a wheel is no longer a task for mr or mrs average.

I generally lease, and have had 2 XFs, 1 F-Type, and Evoque, and the I-Pace, and have had no issues, keeping each one for around 3 years. I think the model before the 2000s had issues, especially while Ford ran the design, but since then, no major issues above those of other premium car makers.
Tesla is one of the least reliable brands in US so

It's a nice car on the in- and outside, but it's not really what I associate with Jaguar somehow. This model really can be of different brands, and when I saw it first here in Antwerp, I first thought it was a new Japanese car. Definetely not a Jag. Quousque tandem abutere, Catilina....

Unless an electric vehicle has a range of at least 300 miles, I am not interested. I hear horror stories of having to wait in lines to get a charge. I just put a deposit down for the Cadillac Lyriq which is estimated at over 300 miles per charge.
Perhaps I am being shallow but, I just cannot stomach the name.
The Hyundai brothers are much better options, so I just don't see a compelling reason to even consider one of these at this point.
I've ev6 awd on order but If I had the budget, I would buy the Jag. In terms of driving is class above ev6

@@gerradwalker6222 I don't need a separate key fob to unlock the door. I don't need to press an uneccessary start button to turn it on. I don't need to lock it when I leave the car. It's faster, the regenerative braking is much better and brings the car to a complete halt. It holds the car when facing both uphill (like the Jag) but also downhill. It's slightly quieter, has a slightly smoother ride and more predictable handling round corners, due to it being considerably lighter and lower. The screen and software are years ahead of the Jag and I get OTA updates about every three weeks. Then there is the Supercharger network which makes long trips no hassle at all and the efficiency and charging speeds are way, way ahead of the I-Pace. Tesla will probably produce about 1.5 million electric cars this year, Jaguar as a brand will be lucky to sell one tenth of this number which might tell you something about the popularity of Tesla If you get the chance go and drive one, it's just a better experience.
I don’t need or want a car that starts, locks, and drives itself … nor do I want a car with a tacky iPad glued to the dashboard as an infotainment screen … nor do I want all that glass and glare directly in front of me and over me… what I do want is a good shaded instrument panel directly in front of me like the I-Pace has … and no way I’m giving any money to anything run by Musk

The reason nobody buys this car us nicely explained in your video, starting at about the two minute mark. The IPace has a 90 kWh battery pack and gives you (as little as) 222 miles of range. The Model Y has a 75 kWh pack and gives you (depending on configuration) well over 300 miles of range.
Most people only need 100 miles or range a day. Tops. People should pay attention to the car as a whole.
Also if your do your research you’ll see that Teslas really don’t hit their claimed range.
I wouldn’t look twice at this car if it passed me. I unfortunately don’t find it to be an attractive car however either is the model Y.

What they sold world wide in 1 year is what Tesla sold of the Model X in 2 months. Ugly basic ev vs very high tech.
Great review. The Jag is gorgeous inside and out. But it’s also very inefficient with no benefit. Yes, many luxury cars can be gas guzzlers but there’s often a reason, such as insane performance, towing, or off-road chops. The Jag has nothing to offer beyond its looks. That 44kwh efficiency is horrible. Given the size of the car and battery, the car should have much longer range. Hopefully they revamp their motors and other components to make it a more competitive vehicle.
It's more luxurious than fast-charging Ioniq 5. And designed for off-road more than Ioniq (for example Ipace wading depth 500mm vs about half that). And will beat current fastest version Ioniq for performance on a track (faster 0-60, higher top speed, faster 1/4 mile, higher lateral acceleration, shorter braking distance etc are all better in ipace). Ev-database gives the Ipace longer real-world range! And only 17% worse efficiency

Nope , all new EVs at this price range have far faster charging capabilities. I love the ipace very disappointed in the fool hardy decision not to improve charging speed especially as it's not that efficient and charging curve is pretty bad too.
I drove this before purchasing my Model X several years ago. Back then, it was being directly compared to the model X because the Model Y didn't exist yet. It wasn't competitive. Not even close. This is much more in-line with the Model Y. Both are hatchbacks, and neither is really a legit luxury vehicle. They both fall squarely in the "premium" category. On the downside, the Jag much more conventional and ordinary than the Y. It also doesn't charge as fast and has an inferior charging network for road trips. On the plus side, it has some real off-road capabilities that the Tesla doesn't offer. Though, having owned several Range Rovers/Land Rovers, I don't think I can go back to the JLR brand again. They are far too buggy and unreliable.
Where does his car stand out in comparison to a Tesla or any other EV other than it is a Jaguar and offers some nice luxury that can be delivered also by a ICE car but without the downsides?
Afaik Jaguar didn’t even deliver on the promise of OTA updates, so why should anybody trust them in that matter. This shows they don’t care for their customers.
