Of course, if you want to just play the chords left hand you need to invert them (a trick pop pianists do) so the chords are as follows... Notes from left to right, the positions make for easier transition E major - g# b e B major - f# b d# C# minor - g# c# e A major - a c# e
Even though you said your a beginner, you would actually be a fantastic piano teacher, thanks so much this as helped me heaps. All the other videos I tried to watch didn't explain it properly and were useless. Thanx again.
you can do this chord progression( I VI vii IV ) in any key, its easy to go C, G, Am, F, no accidentals for starting off, its just the white keys. You can also change key to a comfortable singing range that you have if you want to sing the songs.
You sound just like my dutch friend. For a minute, I could have sworn it was him doing this video. I'm glad you posted this! :D Now I can play every pop song ever. Haha. Dank je wel!
Dude, thank you so much. I just got a keyboard today and i wanted this to be the first song I learned. Thanks to you, it is. The next song you learn, you should post a tutorial for it, because i found this one extremely helpful.
Dude, you are awesome. You seem like a really cool guy. if i had a piano teacher like you when i was a kid i could probably play something more than a radio.
I liked this so much, that I went to Guitar Center and bought a usb M-audio Oxygen midi controller and hooked it up to my recording studio as its only 49 keys and small, where the roland A-30 I had was too big and bulky and would not fit anywhere. My Cat had gotten sick on the keyboard and burned up some circuits and many keys on the left side did not play anyway, so now Im ready, my teacher !!!!
Great help to get people started with quick results on keyboards. Thanks. One thing only, the note you mention as “C major” is actually a C sharp. (Ironically it’s also the bass note of C sharp minor in this piece!).😎
@GirlyPantsNL Sounds great! I have been playing for like an half week now :) I am self taught. Maybe will take some lessons if I need in the autumn next year. Keep up with the good work! Regards Mattias
How come when I play it, it doesn't sound like the 4 chord song the Axis of Awesome plays? Also the other tutorials seem very different from this one...
You change between the two, so you first play "left- right-left-right etc and when you finish each fourth beat you skip over to the next chord first with your right hand... Its a very fast beat
Common thing for people from the Netherlands. I'm from the Netherlands as well but I'm just one of the fewer gifted people that speak English a bit more natural. :)
@MrAnubeats major-minor with 7th chord 9th or just triad chord it works with every scale when you jam you will recognise many songs you know when you try it in every rhytm just learn the progression and have fun tutorials are many here in to understand what im talking youtube.
ok well honestly if you look at the 2011 music video they play it in the key of D... so its a I V vi IV or D A Bm G. Not that you couldnt use this as a tutorial on correct rhythm or correct phrasing because its pretty much a basic tutorial of decent quality. That being said doing this in the Key of E is a bit more frustrating for me. When i started out Cm was a pain Bm was much easier, but its all abt preference.
Super Mario sound effects! Humble, honest and clear instruction makes this a 10 out of 10 awesome even years later. Thank you!

E major - g# b e
B major - f# b d#
C# minor - g# c# e
A major - a c# e
Awesome Thanks!
And a 2nd inversion for the right hand 😁
