I just bought shadow and bone and plan to read it before watching s1 of the netflix show. Am I safe in terms of spoilers for any other book in the grisha verse if i do that ? I would read all the books before but since the show is out i kinda want to watch it soon
The show won't spoil the rest of the trilogy, don't worry! You'll be fine to read the first book, watch the show, and then finish the trilogy. As for the Six of Crows books, the show will spoil minor backstory plots, but nothing big!
Here’s how I read it I was so confused lol 1. Crooked kingdom 2. Six of crows 3. Shadow and bone 4. Siege and storm 5. Ruin and rising 6. The rest of the books I was so so confused but it was great once I realized it was going on, don’t suggest!
I dunno, I got Six of Crows back in 2018 when every Booktube video was mentioning it, the first chapter was too much for me, characters treating the main dude of that section like trash and not a single one of them seeming to care about him, except for a girl who we are only told likes him but who we also see everyone torturing. If the authro can't show us characters liking her main ones, why should she expect me to? Because of this, I wasn't interested in her stuff, however, I recently heard the synopsis of Shadow and Bone from a video of someone reading it in preparation for the show's release. It sounded intriguing to me, then in another video I heard someone say Shadow and Bone has a younger YA feel, which sounds more like my kind of thing, and I have started the book, so far it has shown a few people who actually care about Alina, people aren't treating her like a piece of filth and basically acting like terrible human beings. I realize that for a story you need conflict, sure, that's the first rule every writer encounters. But I personally feel you also need to establish a real reason for the reader to care about the characters on the page that isn't "Hey look at how poorly this person and the girl he likes is being treated, doesn't it make you feel sorry for them?" I mean sure it does, but you need to give me a reason to like HTEM in the first place, and Leigh BArdugo din't.
The narrator of the opening chapter of Six of Crows isn't one of the main characters - that chapter is just there to set the scene, and so understandably doesn't get any development. The main characters of the series do. It's okay if those books aren't for you, I hope you enjoy Shadow and Bone
Honestly the first series is trash compared to the 6 of crows. I don’t think you can judge since you haven’t actually read the book. The first chapter isn’t a fair way to judge because for the rest of the chapters the narrator are the character of the book.
I had somebody actually explain it to me what order it should be read in (intend to read all seven) but I still went straight to Six of Crows because they called it a heist and I was very excited to read that.

Did you read Rule of Wolves yet?
I have! I absolutely loved it!!
I am freaking mad at myself lol I started to read the king of scares and I’m on chapter 10 I noticed the darling and characters are the same in the shadow and Bon series and maybe the six of crows duology and I’ve only read the language of thorns well I think I have there so many I’ve read in three years, I’ve read demon in the woods life’s if saints, and I have the six of crows duology, the shadow and bone series and king of scares duology and now I might have to start reading the six of crows duology, and shadow and bone duology then reread the king of scares Ugg’s why did I not think like that, I hate spoilers bur plz by the time I get back to it I still enjoy it, I have a lot of series and box sets a lot of book are not love together as series because I get them from Morrisons etc or where ever I can, and I’m at that age books are the only thing I’m into, and I’m having to stick to physical books and gain more space because I’m running out of space for my books and my mum would go nuts if I had books lying everywhere so to those books not bought with series or the ones not connected I’ll just have to read the series till I get room and the chance for the otheres oh I have 346 books..
@@fallintofiction9884 okay perfect thank you :)
i have just finished six of crows ansonsten now i have a question: is kaz brekker also in king of scars? because i have a crush on him lol
Kaz isn't one of the main narrators of King of Scars, but Leigh hinted at possible cameos ;)
Is it better to read the grisha trilogy novellas or Is there no need??
They aren't essential to the story, but they are very good. So it's completely up to you!
Maybe be a stupid question, but is the fold still there turning six of crows?
The crows books don’t take place in Ravka so the fold isn’t relevant. I can’t say much more without spoiling the Shadow & Bone series!
Does siege of storm have kaz Jasper and inej... Cause they are my favs
No, the crows don't feature in the shadow and bone trilogy at all! The characters mixing in the show was completely new content
Here’s how I read it I was so confused lol
1. Crooked kingdom
2. Six of crows
3. Shadow and bone
4. Siege and storm
5. Ruin and rising
6. The rest of the books
I was so so confused but it was great once I realized it was going on, don’t suggest!
I Will have the Three books of Grisha
Will it be okay if I try to read Six of crows first? Then the Grisha trilogy? Kindly reply.
If you want to read both I'd start with the trilogy if you can, but you'll be fine if you read Six of Crows first
@@fallintofiction9884 thank you. I’ve already started the SoC and halfway through it. 😇
Are Alina, Darkling & Mal will show up in King of Scar books duology?
@@wishivani but their story completely end in Ruin & Rising?
@@wishivani thank you so much!
THANKYOU
What age would this show be for and same for the books? Also why are they rated this?
@@fallintofiction9884 thank you so muh as I was thinking of getting these for my 13 year old daughter
Thanks
I had somebody actually explain it to me what order it should be read in (intend to read all seven) but I still went straight to Six of Crows because they called it a heist and I was very excited to read that.
Wonderful video! Thank you so much :D
