Hello, I don't expect you to remember me, but if you are the same John Mann that I knew when I lived in Woodingdean with my grandparents at the local grocery shop what a surprise to catch up with you after a lifetime. I am just coming up to my 80th birthday, so I am enjoying the music you are playing on the Wurlitser organ. My mother, when she was alive told me that you were a professional musician but I never thought I would get to hear you. How nice it is to at long last to achieve this.
I hope you get to see this comment, keep up the lovely music.

An amazing walk, back in time, the Wurlitzer is undoubtedly, one of the best, musical pieces of equipment, it’s soul destroying, how they, have been fazed out.

The State had room for 4000 people waiting inside the building as well as 4004 seats, so could hold 8004, which is why it’s bigger than either of the Greens playhouses

Oh my, this is very special. John Mann brought out every feature of the wonderful organ. Such a shame it is not currently available to play.
I loved “Jealousy” for the superb registrations and sensitive playing and “The Clock Store” for demonstrating some of the toy counter. Most of all, the entire concert brought tears of joy to my eyes, triggering memories of another era.

Those toe pistons aren't original - or at least they don't appear to be to me. It's a truly superb organ, which I and my Father had the privilege and pleasure to play way, way back in the late 1960s. Such happy memories of a world that seemed much saner than is today's. Best wishes to you all. Peter A :) :) :)

I believe they date from the console’s removal to Turner’s. When it returned and was relocated off the lift, these pistons appeared.

@@jacobwoods8738 Hi Jacob. Many thanks indeed for taking the trouble to leave that very interesting comment, I had no idea that the console had ever left the building. It was still on its rotating lift on the right side of the stage when I and my Father 'played' it. Kindest regards, Peter A :) :) :)

What a treasure of a video, aside from the Wurlitzer, the history of the building is absolutely fascinating. Many thanks.

I lived in Eastbourne for over 30 years and used to go onto the pier and listen to organists. Not sure if I've seen John or not. I also remember as a young boy going to the ABC Minors shows every Saturday and watching/listening intently to the organist on the amazing Wurlitzer organ. What a gorgeous sound and still my favourite organ to listen to by a country mile! Well played, John.

Such a shame that this organ console now sits on the floor and. I thought that listing meant no major alterations! is the lift actually still in situ? I used to love seeing the console revolve as it came up with organist playing his/her signature tune.

I will correct John here, Kilburn wasn't the largest cinema in the UK. That title goes to Greens Playhouse in Glasgow with 4,368 seats, 364 more than Kilburn.

It was always very unreliable, nothing worse than getting half way or down when playing
