The results of the 2 year timeskip! Gear 4's reveal is quite a peak moment in the arc and really sets the stage for the biggest power struggle in the story so far. Its also quite an amazing application of his powers, most impressively imo is the use of elastic force for flight. Also worth noting. Luffy had this power in his back pocket since the timeskip resumed, meaning both Hordy and Caesar were both considered too weak to pull this out.

Hordy? Irrelevant. Caesar? A clown. But the Noah? That was the real shit here!
Here's the funniest part about Gear 4. It's not like a Super Sayain form that he had to unlock in the moment, he had that shit in his pocket THE ENTIRE TIME. Every fight he had since the time skip, he could gotten bored and hit them with this if he really wanted to.

And while we are at badly worded subs a honourable mention goes out to the rezero subs, specifically the 'who ist rem' and 'Emilias baby joke' scenes. Both times all the tension is killed, because the sentences are worded the wrong way. Irks me every time i watch it.

I love the contrasts between cavendish and bartolomeo, barto was hated at the colisseum, while cavendish was loved, cavendish was a supernova a year before luffy, while barto was a supernova a year after, and even now we have a new one, barto is luffy's fan and cavendish thinks luffy is his fan. They even have green and blonde hair, truly the zoro & sanji of dressrossa lol
Gear 4th is probably my favorite transformation of Luffy's solely for how creatively it combines what we've learned about luffy's powers and armament haki: Elasticity is all about resisting change via deformation, aka how much a given material wants to return to its original form. Armament Hakis whole purpose is literally to resist deformation of limbs or weapons by armoring them. So when you combine Luffy's rubbery body with armament haki, you get a material that can stretch, but really, really, really, REALLY wants to return to its normal form. The result? You get a material that practically EXPLODES back into place with how much potential energy it stores.
The real difference between the suite executives and the the lower executives is that Doffy groomed the latter and was groomed by the former. you could argue Trebol is just as responsible if not more for what happed to Dressrosa.
Fun fact about Doffy's "Overheat" attack, where he shoots out that single flaming string. He's saying "over hito", which sounds like overheat in english, but "hito" is just "string" in Japanese. It's yet another pun attack name, which is great.

One thing I remember about the Gear 4 debut was how both the anime and the manga entered a weeklong break on the words 'Gear Fourth' meaning both times we had two weeks between the reveal that it was a thing and actually getting to see it. Also, a point to keep in mind: LUFFY LEARNED THIS DURING THE 2 YEARS HE WAS TRAINING! He had access to this at Fishman Island and Punk Hazard, and didn't need to use it!
This is one of the biggest lies that the One Piece community believes. The Haki of the armament that Luffy uses is enhanced for combat, just like Katakuri and Garp's Haki. They are seen by the other people.

A weird little rant of mine is that I don't like how they change the order of gear fourth to fourth gear, or Chopper's points to boosts. You can hear them saying "gear fourth" and "guard point", among other little things, why change it? It's more work to change than to leave how it is.
its a grammar thing for gear fourth. in Japanese it would actually be said as gear fourth. whereas, in English its the other way around. Luffy is using the "engrish" way of saying the words in English but with Japanese grammar. while the subtitles and dub corrected to proper english. no idea about chopper's points.

Gear 4 reminds me of how much I like Luffy's kit and interesting ways he manipulates his body to gain strength. Gear 2nd manipulates his blood to gain speed, Gear 3rd manipulates his bones so that he can deliver devastating blows and Gear 4th manipulates his muscles which grants him great physical strength and defense.

At Hordy moment, he need consistent destruction power for Noah boat, so gear 3 is the right choice, while Caeser is just too weak for gear 4.
My head-canon is that Luffy wanted to pull Gear 4 against Hordy but the bubble he was in wouldn’t be able to handle it.
Even against Doflamingo he didn't felt the need to pull it out until his annoyance hit max level

Oh no. This is just like with Demon Slayer. Where we see their sword abilities, but nothing's really there. 😅
This is not true. Luffy's Enhanced Armament Haki is seen by other characters. Katakuri's Haki and Garp's Haki are also seen.

One thing I remember about the Gear 4 debut was how both the anime and the manga entered a weeklong break on the words 'Gear Fourth' meaning both times we had two weeks between the reveal that it was a thing and actually getting to see it.

A weird little rant of mine is that I don't like how they change the order of gear fourth to fourth gear, or Chopper's points to boosts. You can hear them saying "gear fourth" and "guard point", among other little things, why change it? It's more work to change than to leave how it is.
Especially stupid when the words are written in english to begin with so there is no need to change anything at all.
its a grammar thing for gear fourth. in Japanese it would actually be said as gear fourth. whereas, in English its the other way around. Luffy is using the "engrish" way of saying the words in English but with Japanese grammar. while the subtitles and dub corrected to proper english.

Gear 4 reminds me of how much I like Luffy's kit and interesting ways he manipulates his body to gain strength. Gear 2nd manipulates his blood to gain speed, Gear 3rd manipulates his bones so that he can deliver devastating blows and Gear 4th manipulates his muscles which grants him great physical strength and defense.
Gear 4 is so goofy and so hype. It was glorious seeing Doffy's seemingly unbeatable strings get broken so easily by single punches from Luffy.
