    Swap the drive gears and it can climb ridiculous angles until it rolls back, at expense of speed. Also increase ride height by moving the shocks one stud closer to the center, drawback is narrower wheel base. It makes functionality 9/10

    Many question left not disclosured : are you going to compare motors not only by speed, but also torque? Could you test these motors with train/batmobile smart hub and train remote? Almost nothing about new wheel hubs, except fact that it is 1:5.5 reduction.....you have a luck and lot of time to do it better, man...before embargo date will come and all info we want, will be disclosed by other reviewers 🤷🏻‍♂️ get hype, don't loose privilege

    Thanks for your rewiev, am i wrong or the new xl motor has much less torque than the old one? Looking to your vertical test, the crawler stops at a ridicoulous incline... Hope its a problem of gearing... What do you think about?
    Thanks.

    • @robin_iv
      @robin_iv 5 лет назад

      I think its also important that the motors are not connected directly to the wheels and one motor has to power two wheels over those many gears. It's very inefficient and causes the motor to produce more power that than the wheels will get. Also the weight of the Model and the hub has to be considered when talking about the slope angle. And don't forget the Clutch gear built inside.

    • @paologalbiati3782
      @paologalbiati3782 5 лет назад

      @@robin_iv hi robin, everything you wrote is correct except, maybe i'm wrong, the cloutch gear inside the transmission, i didn't see it. I think the friction generated by the transmission is the same of the old rock crawler.
      I think the 1:2,77 final gear ratio, is the main issue. If new xl has an higer rpm, the torque is for sure lower than the old one. Looking at the comparison of the two xl version, I assume that the speed is doubled in the new one, making this final gear ratio similar to a 1:5,5 with the old PF xl.
      That's why the crawler is stalling so easily. Probably, with a 3:1 gear ratio, this thing can became a serious climber.

      yeah, we need the rechargeable system (i did my own for the classic pf).
      But you can't use your usb charger because this charger got 5v (1cell lithium (up to 4.2v)) and you need 9v or even 12v. So you have to use 2-3 lithium cells and if you got more than one the charger needs a balancer. But if they release it, they made it to expensive or bad (they also released a rechargable option for the pf system which hosts only 800mah)

      Kree Larson otoh, AA batteries will still exist in 10 years. Lego is something you keep for a long time, not something to throw out after 3 years. Do you still have some camera from the early 2000s? I bet the battery is dead by now and it's impossible to get a replacement now. You might not cry about some old 6mpix camera but if that was a cherished lego set...
      For anything long lived proprietary rechargeable batteries aren't a good choice imo.

      well you can buy nimh batteries which are decent for powering the piece.
      Also they are fully replaceable which is great.

    I just finished building this amzazing set but I found that only 3 of the 4 wheels spinning properly. The other one just refused to spin with the opposite one. I suspect the differential was the problem but couldn't see why. Can anyone help please?

    • @ZEROBRICKS
      @ZEROBRICKS  5 лет назад

      Yes, probably a flipped diff.

    Hmm. Let’s see. Spend ~$250 USD on something that goes 3 mph and can’t climb a flat ramp at 25 degrees and has plastics gearing. Or spend same on a hobby-grade crawler than will go 15 mph max and can climb 60+ degree ramp and has metal parts? Lol.

    Thank you for the good review!
    But I see no reason to buy the car, even considering the new parts. Apart from them this is actually a pretty basic crawler, that we have seen among MOCs.
