FWIW- “Whipping Post” is a blues rock classic from The Allman Brothers Band's 1969 self-titled debut record. This track opens with alternating bars of 6/8 and 5/8 (or 11/8 if you combine each two bar phrase) and features both Butch Trucks and “Jaimoe” Johanson playing drums in unison.
I love slash, but his lead doesn’t sound like something from outer space like it did with GNR. Just saying…… Not moved at all. Thought it would be cool because there is so much Dickey Betts in Slash’s sound, but he never listened to A Bros. It was just coincidence that their sounds are similar. IMHO
You are so right he’s awesome, like his dad!
Slash is great but Duane Betts sounds just like his dad!!! Amazing how good he is. Playing in 5/4 is not easy. Amazing!!!!🤘🤘🤘🤘⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️
I do believe the 5/4 is only in the intro
In the early 90's, Duane would sit stage right, soaking it all up!! I had hoped back then, he would be a Real Picker! He Is!
1000% yes!
The original is 11/8 time. It's incredibly hard on drums
@@4-dayworkweek289 you are right
Absolutely incredible! Thanks for sharing!!
Your why I do it.! I’m glad it resonated ✌️✌️✌️

Love it. Yes
Watching from Arizona. Thanks for posting
I really love Slashes playing here.
He has that southern rock spirit for sure
On my RUclips channel, there are several more videos of him just absolutely killing it
Please come to the Fillmore Slash? It’ll be Epic!!!!
Very good, but as Willie Nelson said in the ABB's ROH induction, the brothers are often imitated but never duplicated.

lmfao!!!!!!!!slash.......?all sounds like the sos...........buy the record and heal up from this mess!
Even the record pales in comparisson to when Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks would blow every other version away on tour.
