- Spiders the size of a baby's hand and that can fly have been spotted in Southeastern U.S. states. They spawn massive webs, have a leg span of up to 4 inches and a vibrant yellow and black coloration. The good news is that they're fairly docile and don't threaten humans or pets.

Better than flying alligators . Think about it !
Saying they can fly is a bit of an exaggeration, many spiders drift, float, or simply get blown around on air currents, some do it purposely using their web. I believe they were going for the sensationalism of such a thing. This is know as yellow journalism.
Yep, and it's becoming the norm for News Nation.
Headline says venomous spider, the guy talking says docile...
Docile =/ non venomous
Oh well, my chickens will find them just as tasty as any other bug.
I would rather Japan lent us GODZILLA than these creepy AF spiders
Ever watch the movie "Them"?
It's about giant killer ants and it came out the same year as the first Godzilla film.
actually i promise you wouldn't.
apparently you aren't aware of godzillas meaning or significance to japan.
godzilla was created after ww2, it was absolutely nothing but their artistic representation for what they viewed we did to them, why else do you think he often has atomic breathe?...he's their icon for American war and destruction.
go..go...Godzilla
Blue Oyster Cult
That's next
Fun fact: Murder hornets can get rid of these spiders.
😂
I feel safer lol🤣
As a member of the East Coast, you can keep it.
Lol. ACCESS DENIED
As a fellow east coaster, I agree
does it concern anyone that these invasive and possibly destructive species keep getting dropped on US shores? I wonder who is behind such warfare
The title is as silly as that man's hair.
Both of them have some bad hair. 😂
We seen one at a pumpkin farm and we thought it was a prop. We walked up and just stared at it and then it started moving. We all just stood transfixed and in unison said "OMG that is a huge spider" Then we watched people just walk right near it and I said these people think this web and spider is a decoration. I was bitten by a brown recluse on my face and I've accidentally eaten a daddy long leg. I've looked Joros in the face ... It knows my name.
Sounds like this could be a bad start to a country song…🤠🤣😉
How do you accidently eay a spider?
These seem very similar to Banana Spiders. Theyre pretty chill
Eh... been living with Brown Recluse and Black Widow Spiders. They don't have an endless supply of venom so they try really hard not to waste it on biting humans. Bites to humans happen when they accidentally press down on the spider while reaching for something. Oh and lots of baby spiders can "fly". They sail through the air on webbing that is how they spread and find new homes.
I know. Like in Charlottes Web all the babies fly away. Its what they do.
Clickbait title is gross. Joro spiders are docile and not a threat. They're big and they're scary but you'll have to really try to get bitten by one.
Yeah but no I know not to kill them if I see them so sometimes click bait works for the positive.
They are a threat to indigenous insects and spiders only.
@@stephensaltau6481Indigenous 😂
They will kill off the native species. That is the real concern.
@Alonzo-kt8kf these spiders are colonizers 😝
This just looks like a garden spider. Those have been in Tennessee forever.
I noticed no talks about it being invasive or how it mayor may not disrupt the native life. I figured they either don't know or they are not new.
This is not a garden spider. They do not fly and they are no more venomous than a garden spider. They are native to Asia and came here in produce shipments. Look at the Joro spider and a garden spider side by side and you'll see the obvious differences.
@@evonne315 these spiders are very invasive
They keep making big giant spider movies and there’s a huge conspiracy theory about ancient giant spiders frozen in Antarctica. Now the giant spider “theme” has made the news ? 🤔
As an Australian, I'm not worried. I look forward to welcoming them into my yard.
That's only because yall got cat sized spiders down there 😂
Aussies are f*cking badass...here in Scotland we have mostly small spiders the size of a coin...even those scare the crap out of me.
In Australia, they might actually belong there....but in the U.S they don't.
Mexico sends their regards
They probably could clean up the garden.
Obviously came through our open Southern border along with all the other unwanted bugs 😠
I’d take the spiders over the gigantic cockroaches!
@@bugloverspiderlover8490 Omgosh me too!
Pretty sure that is the same spider that was everywhere in North Carolina when I grew up. We called them a writing spider. If you said anyone's name around them, they would write your name in their web and then come get you that night.
We call them Banana spiders in SC. They’re all around lol
hahahahahahahahahahaha
@@UngiftedBaskettiBall I was wondering if they're the same as writing spiders. Omgosh those things are huge and so are the webs! I guess different parts of the state call them different things.
@@UngiftedBaskettiBall Ok I just googled banana/writing spiders and they look alike but they are different than Joro spiders. Learn something new every day.
The writing spider I saw was big enough but not 4 inches! 😳
Our local news said if they did bite a human that it'd be comparable to a mosquito bites.
Is that the lead singer of Nickelback>?
nah hes from pennyfront
From Asia? Of course they’re coming.
What about the murder hornets? LMMFAO!
I just said the same thing! Anything for clicks.
What about them
@@larsonfamilyhouse It was all hype.
I live in Nashville and have had them in my yard off and on for a couple of years. They do get pretty big but they don't bother you!
Ok .....spiders AREN'T INSECTS!!
You're right, they're arachnids.
Exactly.They are mammals
🤓
Arachnids
@@richaveritt7297 right?
Stop with the misinformation...not venomous...scary to look at but it's nature
Down south we call them writing spiders. I believe these are the same thing. Only thing that is annoying is they don’t seem to be scared of people like most spiders. If they land on you they just chill on your cap , shoulder etc.
I googled it. Writing spiders are similar but different than Joro spiders. They look alike though.
I have turds the size of a baby's leg!
😂😂😂
Whoa…😳 🤣
Lol
We've never profited by trading with southeast Asia.
all spiders are venomous
True
And they are not insects 🙄
No they’re not!
@@Momcat_maggiefelinefan Yes they are, just not all spider venom is toxic to humans
No, no small groups of spiders do not have venom
Seein one many many years ago in PA
Seen one in Lancaster years ago. 😰 It was huge and it looked fake.
Fun Times! found two webbing my house in North Carolina
I'm from Georgia and we have been seeing a ton of these things this last few years especiallylast year. These things sure know how to populate quickly. I work at an outdoor paintball field including a paintball field in the woods and we had hundreds and hundreds of these spiders all over the place in our woods and around our shop last year. Even at my house I've been starting to see these things grow in numbers, and yeah, these things get pretty big but I think they're cool looking LOL
These spiders have been here in TN forever.
Oh goody. I am not going outside. 😂
*They do not fly good grief!* The only thing more annoying than clickbait is always telling everyone to subscribe to the channel as if people does not know how to click on the stupid [subscribe] button.
If they don’t have wings, they can’t fly. Glide through the air, yes, but not flying.
"It's not flying; it's falling with style" - Toy Story
Joros are not dangerous to humans. I think they are beautiful. ❤.
Beautiful looking.
But might want to break out the hairspray and a lighter.
Chicken Little Says the Sky is Falling The Sky is Falling.
Joro spiders are not harmful to humans. I have held them many times and find them to be beautiful creatures.
🕷️ do they have radioactive ☢️ blood?
We’ve had them in Florida forever. They might bite but it’s like a masquito bite
Kingdom Of The Spider's is a good old movie to watch...70's cheese Of a movie but a classic...
not the same kind of Spider's but still crazy and cool...
William Shatner movie its a good one
Been in Georgia for a long time now. They are not like they are describing here. Big, yes... look scary, yes... but harmless. Never seen any fly.
Stooooooooop noooo!😮😮😮😮
Holy Flying Spiders Batman! 😂😂😂😂😂
Last year had a spider like that making web and egg sack under my gazebo I kept moving her to far back yard but a day or two later she was back under gazebo. This year no sign of her.
Packing bags and heading for North Dakota.
They're all over the perimeter of my house in GA and KSAW mountain is an arachnophobes nightmare, but the reduction of pests I've seen in my house from last year to now is dramatic. The Gnats were god awful last year. If they keep the pest levels down, I'll let them chill as long as I don't walk into a nest on a path. Plus they'll all thin out in the colder months. Here when I need them, gone when I don't.
I’m never going outside again. Imagine walking into that web and having one of those things crawling on you. I can handle having my black widows at my house but this is too much.
Black Widow bites are way worse. These things venom isn't strong. Black Widows, as we know are docile. These use webs to "fly" or get around. Harmless honestly
They're venomous, but not to humans...their fangs are not long enough to break human skin...and they're not aggressive. They're an orb spyder.
Ohhh, So this why those weather spy balloons were flying over...
Don't watch the movie Arachnophobia after seeing these spiders or it would make you more afraid but they are more dangerous and scary looking spiders than these Joros.
Lol is that one of those deer that is grown at a farm that you shoot in a fenced area? Lmao
That’s a giant nope….
I seen those spider here in Houston, Tx since I came to America in the 80's nothing new.
Headed to east coast? By train or plane ✈️?
do they eat thicks ?? its all i want to know
Can’t wait to see Disney’s movie about this ☺️
They been in flordia for decades
No different than the common garden spiders we have had forever, same coloring, size and behavior.
I seen this spider in Tennessee 25 years ago.
Must of been dropped off by the flying ballons.
China reference 💀💀💀
A new fear has been unlocked...just saying...
Had a Joro make a web on my front porch last year and it was beautiful!
" he was with my mom when she died in the Amazon researching spiders. “ lol
Ok I just saw a movie, can’t remember the name where the star of the movies mom died from a spider
Bite in the Amazon and one of lines was this exact line.
@@michelel1852 yes indeed. The worst movie ever called Madame Web haha
And Godzilla has been spotted coming too. This channel is desperate for views.
They look like Florida orb weavers. Not to worry, our Jurassic size flying roaches will get them.
Omgosh that's my biggest fear! 😨
I saw the biggest when I visited Florida 30 years ago and a 3 inch long one crawled across the wall!
Not venomous!
Seems like a beneficial spider
Their venom is harmless to healthy humans.
Oh great - this is just a death sentence for the native big orb spiders these arrivals resemble that have lived there forever. And no matter how "Big" a spider is I have yet to see one anywhere near the size of a human, so they really don't want to waste any venom on us that could deprive them of a bug meal. Relax people. This is a non-threat.
Yea they popped up where I live in Stone Mountain Georgia. They no threat bra, just get some raid and knock them down they weak
These people live under a rock joros have been in florida for 50 years since i was little we use to catch them .
Love how nature colors poisonous critters with a yellow/black warning. lol Halloween hahahahahaha
They came from a Spider Breeder who decided they wanted to end the cicada issues.
Still haven't seen any cicadas.
Coming in via all the connex shipping containers probably
We had joro spiders in 2017 and 2020 in north ga, they do not fly , they drift. 😂😂😂😂 I had many many all in my yard in my house and yet never saw one fly! 😂😂😂😂 What in the world is the news coming to??? Their webs are seriously made of steel. That is a fact
This guy Ron i used to work with found one of these in Tucson and made the news .
Maybe they can help catch lantern Flys in their webs
Ahh… why not the borders are wide open let’s get them hooked up with benefits and money card
Are they part of the black widow family? The leg's have a similar marking to the male black widow and they have the red on the belly. It seems like looking at a cousin or something.
well I think they are beautiful 😍and they’re venom isn’t a threat to humans period
They look like banana spiders...but different colors. Nothing we didn't already have in the south. Flying is not what they do, they fall stylishly
Diversity, tolerance and inclusion
Why is it you always look so psycho when you're reporting
Over here chillin in California 😎
Why are they here? They didn't parachute all the way from Asia.
We have them here in SC. Saw a lot of them last year
Which part of Asia are they from, all over?? The daylight tiger mosquitos came in from China through boats carrying tires. Water collected in tires and they bred there. Why are all of these boats and freights monitored a lot more. They can effect the eco system.
Some of these comments are absolutely hilarious! 🤣
I can coexist with them if they can handle me out gardening beside them. If they dont hurt anything I am fine.
So did they swim here or what
Florida will turn into a King Kong Movie
I hate, hate, hate Spiders! No,no,no! I live NJ! Im moving to somewhere like Vermont!😮😮😮
🎉Bad news... a group of joro spiders have chartered a bus and are coming to NJ to visit you 🎉
@@LynyrdSkynyrd.4Ever That's it I'm moving to Alaska! 🤪🤪🤪
Dame Asia doing us dirty Real slick
😅😂will they fly the whole distance😅😂
Minnesota is good. 👍
Got a hold of red bull drinks
God I hate spiders! But thank goodness they are going to the East coast not West coast, and it is good that they just look scary but are not venomous.
