ad read was genuinely hilarious, love that they let you do that (like of course they should, it makes people like me more likely to watch the ad read, but most companies never figure that out)
Why is the character's immediate assumption that he's faking his accent? People's accents shifting when they're mad/ annoyed is pretty common and that doesn't mean either accent is less real.
It wouldn't surprise me if the writers didn't see it that way. I've noticed a trend where a lot of Americans don't think a non-regional north American accent *is* an accent. In the world of the show, Arastoo didn't slip into an American accent, he "forgot he was supposed to have an accent". This way of thinking about accents is unfathomable to me as someone who speaks English as a first language but has a recognisable accent (Irish). Around here I sound "normal" but it's too small and there's too much local accent variation for me to ever forget that it's not the "default" way to speak English. Even outside of Irish accent variation, I work with a Scot, a Nigerian and a South African, all of whom are also speaking English as a first language and none of whom sound anything like me (or each other). Everyone sounds like they're from *somewhere*. If you're American and you don't think you have an accent, I promise you have an American accent. At least Brits who claim not to have an accent know they sound like fairly posh English people to everyone else lol.
@@jamielockdown Agreed. I'm from the east coast where this trend is very popular in the states but I'm also from a specific area that has well known dialect differences so it's 50/50 on how ppl respond to "accents"
For some reason when I'm joking around, sometimes my usual US accent slips into like a Georgia-region southern kind of accent. Sometimes when I'm mad, British slang slips in, and my accent slips with it. Certain words and phrases are stored in my head the way I first heard them, so that's how I say them. Maybe it's more common in people that do that social mirroring thing, but it's not that far out of a concept.
I grew up in the deep south. I have a very "normal" american accent. When I get really upset or angry, my southern accent comes out full force. Idk what this has to do with anything other than you said a thing about accents, so thanks.
I’m Muslim and it’s haram to *eat* pork/pig products but being in the *presence* of a pig (dead or alive) is *fine* in our religion, she’s making a mountain out of a molehill 🤦🏻
I was wondering about that! I kept thinking it's weird that his defense is that it's necessary and so isn't sinful instead of "dude, I wasn't planning on sucking off the bones"
Thank you for clarifying! My first thought was "oh but ...he's not gonna eat it...???" lmao. also he's a grown man who could have and would have mentioned if he couldn't examine it, his outburst was fully justified imo
@@Patrick-PhelanNow I’m imagining all Muslims have super powers except when pigs are around. And the United States is just so saturated in bacon culture that I’ve never seen a Muslim at full power. Best religious conversion pitch I’ve ever heard.
Can you imagine the absurdity of this scene playing out with a character that happened to be Jewish? Especially considering in all likelihood (given the type of show this is) it would be the first time their religion comes up but the show would assume the audience already knew because of their nose shape or hair texture 😬
I've felt for a long time that the Santa story is way more sinister than people seem to think, in large part because he would have to be taking money to give better toys to rich kids. It's like baby's first indoctrination into the fallacy of meritocracy. So I absolutely adored Willie's narrative about the story.
I feel like the accent plot could have just as easily ended with "Yes, the Iranian accent is my real accent, I just fake an American one around people I'm scared are gonna be racist assholes. I felt comfortable enough to show you my true self, and now I feel betrayed you'd judge me like that". Like seriously, I think it's way more frequent for people to fake an American accent than vice versa. Even white people face that pressure to conform to what's seen as a "normal" accent, there's lots of Scottish actors who deal with the same issue. It just feels weird they'd jump to the conclusion the Iranian accent has to be the fake one
that charred body in the firepit with AVIATOR SUNGLASSES ON was so FUNNY holy shit like. did no one realize??? that those sunglasses would make that look hilarious??? or am i just a bad person idk
The one lady pressing and pressing the Muslim guy on how the pig must be offensive after he says it's fine reminds me of this time I was playing D&D and one of the topics was triggering for me and I had to bow out for a moment until that bit was over and afterwards the DM and character in question kept apologizing over and over after I said I was fine, and eventually I was like "this is actually more uncomfortable, I'd appreciate if we can just move on." Not that I know what it's like to be a religious minority, but it's the feeling of someone thinking they're being sensitive but just making you increasingly uncomfortable about something about you that's 'different'
Yeah it becomes about you making sure THEY’RE not uncomfortable or upset for thinking they’re a bad person for doing something wrong even unintentionally instead of them going “oh okay, I’m sorry, I won’t do that again, let’s move on”.
I had the same experience! I tried to bow out and said 'hey, I got a bit triggered by this, I just need like 5 mins to try and calm down, no worries! Have fun while I'm gone" and they paused the session for 15 minutes bombarding me with apologies and promising it wasn't as bad I thought and if it was then they'd scrap their whole session (that the other players were looking forward to and enjoying) and it's just.. idk, slimy. Like I feel like an asshole complaining about someone trying to be nice to me but if they had just listened to me from the start, I would've left for five minutes, come back and everyone would've had a good time? Instead they actively disrupted everyone's time to draw attention to me and my personal problems, while insisting I didn't know what was best for me??
I'll be honest as a jewish person I probably would make some dumb joke like that at a BBQ, that being said it would simply be funnier if I said it lmao
The way that the woman was asking about like, all the "barbaric" and "outdated" Muslim rules/traditions as though Christianity is any better??? I know jack shit about either, but I do know that 1. They're based on the same older religion, and 2. Christianity endorses and commends some WILD shit
Christianity is literally older than Islam, so, yeah, the only reason its not more "outdated" to people's minds is that they went to Sunday school growing up.
My roomate had a good point that this show was written by conservatives and that's why the characters that should be "liberal" end up saying the wildest shit.
Them saying “dogs don’t react to it like humans do” I think is less to do with the laxatives and more to do with the chocolate as chocolate is very toxic to dogs.
Well... not that "very toxic" 🤔 dark chocolate is not great but even a chihuahua needs a couple of pieces to start to get ill and the bigger the dog the more it can handle. Grapes and onions are much more dangerous to dogs. 🤔 not that I suggest you should give your dog chocolate, but more like don't panic if it steals your chocolate chip cookie or a milk chocolate bar.
Oh yeah my dog sneaked a whole penguin when she was younger (which is like really milk choc and mostly biscuity) and she's on the bigger side so despite having a chronic digestive issue (we weren't aware of at the time) she was so ok there was no reaction whatsoever, I think we used an online calculator where you put the level of chocolate to the size of the dog and guess how worried you should be ? Honestly she reacts worse to doggy treats. And chocolate was the only food i knew to be careful about with dogs before (pre) actually getting one
@@LookingForFrogs Fun fact: "dark" chocolate doesn't even have enough cocoa for US, the humans (who are weird AF and evolved to eat poisons and benefit from it), until you hit the 85% cocoa threshold. It's the cocoa that's poisonous IIRC because it contains theobromide. And when that stuff is only in the cocoa part of chocolate, it's ridiculously diluted. You're gonna mess your dog up more with the white sugar it's eating from milk chocolate or sweet baker's chocolate, really. Grapes, onions (really all of the genius alium) and coffee/black tea are more dangerous for dogs than anything except MAYBE unsweetened 90% cocoa baker's chocolate. It's like potassium with humans. Yes, we can TECHNICALLY get potassium poisoning, but the sheer amount of bananas you'd need to consume within a day is physically impossible to reach even for freaks who ended up eating bananas only for a month like me.
Chocolate allergies aren't even universal to dogs, let alone universally fatal. A chocolate laxative isn't going to kill even the smallest dog, even one that IS allergic to chocolate.
My first thought was the girl was embarrassed because she thinks the dad wouldn't do that to a straight guy. Like there are a good number of older straight guys that have the "they probably like it anyways" lack of respect thing
From my experience as the child of an immigrant who speaks with a heavy accent (albeit a Central American accent), I think it's usually the opposite way round with accents. If you can Americanize, people treat you with more trust and respect. Maybe it's different for Muslim people who have to balance a different faith, so I can't speak for that. But I'd hypothesize that any immigrant who can successfully assimilate would be treated with less (but still likely some) scorn. In other words, I think the guy born in San Jose, CA just got tired of having to put on the accent and asked the writers to drop it. And/or, he kept fucking up takes by slipping into his natural accent and the writers/studio thought it'd be better to drop it than waste more time lmao.
Chocolate laxatives probably only have the flavoring of chocolate without any actual chocolate in the mix. Not that I would know, in my country if you're taking a laxative you need to take it and don't have to trick yourself into thinking you're just having a sweet treat for the fun of it. Many bad things have happened bc of chocolate laxatives and I'll never understand USians and their weird medications (which many are banned everywhere else).
The quality of chocolate and the chocolate content of the laxative would probably be so small it would (or should) be the least concerning part of the situation. Iirc, higher quality chocolate and darker chocolate tends to be worse for dogs because it tends to have more cocoa itself.
@@christopherhammond5142 while chocolate might be a laxative in it's own right (i dont remember if it is or not), chocolate laxatives are specifically chocolate with extra laxative medication added, probably because laxative medication doesnt taste the greatest.
I’ve thought for YEARS “Bones is one of the most insane shows I’ve ever seen- how are none of my fave long form content creators mining this televised chaos?” And I could not be more pleased that you are the RUclipsr to finally do it ❤️😭
Man, those doctors suck! You're doing your best! Weight isn't all there is to health. My sleep doctor tried pulling the "lose weight" on me and I just said "okay but this is my CURRENT weight so how about you help me how I am now, huh?" Thankfully he understood what I meant but it really sucks when doctors act like weight is the only factor in health. Skinny people (ppl with naturally high metabolism) can eat junk food constantly and never exercise and no one says a thing! But God FORBID us fat people eat a French fry or be a bit lazy. Cause even when we try to do everything healthy, we still get crapped on!
It's so weird doctors dont know better by now, I'm on the naturally small side of the spectrum but understood it like we've all got a natural frame our genetics/epigenetics predisposes us for, and that can be a wide range of shapes and sizes for any individual, whats difficult is changing that natural-to-us form, either losing Or gaining weight. And that changes more due to uncontrollable factors more than anything else. And i know for sure they should know that it is largely genetic and size does not denote healthiness by now theres been so much research on it. my mums 'overweight' and shes the one thats run a marathon, i could not manage a 10k at all. Like starting Testosterone as a trans person changed more than any work i mightve put in, and it didnt even change my appetite. I feel like its one of those cop-out answers they can say which puts everything on the patient so the doctor doesnt have to do much until thats been confirmed completely 100% unrelated, which would not be an easy thing to prove, but idk I'm used to uk not American healthcare and i dont know what im talking about
@reedsylvier5250 yeah... So many people die or suffer unnecessarily just because their doctor is fatphobic. It's so sad. You've really gotta fight for yourself or you'll be ignored. It's frustrating af. I can't count the number of skinny af girls throughout k-12 that I was friends with who just ate absolute garbage and didn't gain a pound! All because they had naturally very high metabolism that I didn't. Obesity runs heavy in my family, as well as things like diabetes, so it's natural that I'm bigger than others. Sure, I could eat healthier and exercise more. But just because I eat some junk food or be lazy sometimes doesn't mean I shouldn't get treatment! It's still good to rule out other things besides the fat! And hell, some of the things could be causing the fat! Such as thyroid issues. If your doctor was to refuse to test your thyroid because you're fat, that'd be so hypocritical!
@@reedsylvier5250 all of this is so true!! outside factors influence weight so much, like i’ve been heavy my whole life and nothing i did seemed to change anything, but when I started Testosterone and ADHD meds i dropped 20 pounds over the course of a few months. like i’m genetically predisposed to be bigger (my whole family is larger), i have pcos, and i’m pretty sure i used to overeat just for the dopamine releases
I'm a doctor, and this is a very difficult concept to get some other doctors to accept and even I avoid seeing my own PCP for fear of hearing the "it's probably because of your weight" excuse. Health is much more than your weight. I am a pediatrician and I tell my patients that I don't care what their weight is, I care about them learning healthy habits and feeling comfortable in their bodies. It's a soap box that I get on and preach to all med students. Hopefully future doctors will be better....
It's especially frustrating because conditions that are made worse by excess body fat tend to also make it harder to lose weight (insulin resistance or eating disorders come to mind for me). People will blame the condition on your weight, when a major part of the weight is also the condition, which definitely gets INCREDIBLY dangerous when a doctor does it, and many do.
I love the ramble sections. Your thought patterns make sense to me, and I find your personal updates as interesting as the main topic of the videos. To be fair, I'm autistic so I'm not a "typical" viewer and I loathe change of any kind. That being said I'll adjust if you get rid of that section because I LOVE your videos. I laugh out loud during every video.
Jumping into Neurodivergent Comment Corner to say I also enjoyed it, as a fellow autism-and-adhd-haver! Who’s to say we aren’t the typical viewers of these videos, there’s at least three of us!
I had to pause my knitting to gasp like it was sacrilege lol, i guess I'm lucky on set up that i dont have that problem, and i usually work on smaller things like hats
dr saroyan flipping from being overbearing about workplace sensitivity with Arastoo's religion to accusatory about his accent is wild to me, like ohh, that really was a performance wasn't it lmao Edit: Also don't worry Willie, so many doctors just zero in on weight no matter how healthy you're being. i went to see an endocrinologist who used bmi to measure how healthy I was, despite the fact bmi is outdated and bullshit and I told him I was working out to build muscle (which like... muscle weighs a tonne). He told me to try a liquid diet to lose weight 😭 He wouldn't hear that despite my pudgy belly (which I'm perfectly happy with, it's cute and it gives my cat a comfy cushion to sleep on) I'm actually in the best shape of my life and losing weight would actually make it harder to build muscle. I will not be seeing him again lmao.
Willie you CANNOT look straight down the camera and coyly say "I'm on the naughty list" I came here for a scathing and funny review of an old TV show not to be made to need a cold shower
@15:15 they were suggesting that because chocolate is poisonous to dogs that the choco lax was real chocolate and they if it had been a vanilla lax it wouldnt have been quit as bad
yea- dogs notoriously don’t do well when given chocolate, if anything it being a laxative could’ve let the dog ~expel~ the chocolate fast enough to prevent further damage
the change in behavior is interesting and something i slightly relate to, though i doubt the writers put that much thought into it. there are times where some slight "self-infantilization" is part of code-switching, i myself end up doing it in some cases despite loathing being infantalized, because sometimes its just easier to seem naive and innocent or let a joke pass instead of having to give a whole class on how a coworker is being racist when this isn't what you signed up for in this case it makes a lot of sense he would do that as part of avoiding the whole "its the early 00s and all muslims get accused of terrorism or religious fanaticism", he didn't express any anger he might've felt or talk back abt dumb assumptions bc it was extremely easy for a muslim man to be seen as aggressive and dangerous for just standing up for himself. unfortunately the way it all happened and the lack of acknowledgement by the characters makes it pretty clear it was more an accident on the writers' part, they got accused of going too into one group of stereotypes and hard-pivoted to "hes just a normal american guy like any of us! see? he even made an edgy joke!" which leads to some pretty clumsy execution of what could be such a good plot point in a better show...... ("you don't care! why do i talk?" no no listen, a lot of us do care, and even if no one did, it just feels good to talk and have it be visible somewhere yk? its the same reason i comment so much on youtube videos even when theres some im sure no one will read bc i just started yapping. the human desire for self expression or smth. also hell yeah on being healthier! fuck that doctor)
Here's to yelling into the void and being pleased that sometimes the void cares enough to yell back rather than just read and make a noise of assent without yelling back.
Sounds like you had the same cardiologist I had before he moved away. He was an ass. I told him that exercise doesn't make me lose weight and I've never lost weight exercising. I didn't even lose weight in boot camp. He kept trying to argue with me as if I haven't been living in this body for decades.
34:51 omg you're so welcome Willie and thank you for recognizing the effort it takes to sit through one of your genuinely delightful videos. I really am a hero for this.
Your first video on this topic is how I found your channel - just last week. I have been immersing myself in the lore since then. So grateful for the algorithmic gods sometimes 😁
If you finnish Willie's videos and crave more I recommend checking his appearances on Drawfee videos - that's where I fell in love with his humor style. Plus Drawfee is awesome.
That thing with the doctor calling you unhealthily fat when you're the most active you've ever been is so common and so familiar! I had a doctor go on for an hour to explain BMI to me despite me telling her that the pain I was feeling was from before I gained weight (and despite me beforehand having looked up both scientific studies and history that explained just how racist/misogynistic/outright stupid the very concept of BMI even is). Didn't matter that I was doing more exercise and eating better than I'd ever done before. She was just like "lose weight." No tests, nothing. It was another year before I found a doctor who was willing to listen to me enough to find the fucked up veins in my legs and the slipped disk in my back. There's also the fact that a lot of folks are genetically predisposed to gaining weight as they get older; and that's not something they need to or even *should* try preventing or reversing. It's like this world has got a huge problem of fatphobia that itself results from racism deciding that beauty standards after the 1800s meant thinness, or something!
While I don't really consider myself a Bones Fan, I did watch it with my father growing up so I have big nostalgia. I think, while "Bones Fans" could nitpick, I think you do an excellent job of digging into each episode in a way that actually matters. I love hearing your thoughts on all of it, and the "rambles" at the end feel like a bonus. I think you are often too hard on yourself, but some rando on the internet saying that likely doesn't change much. Doctors can be the absolute worst. My old doctor would not even really talk to me when I weighed more, saw him sometime after an illness made me lose weight and he had the gall to comment on how healthy I was looking☠My current doctor has been very supportive at all sizes and understands that my weight has never been a good indicator of my health, I hope someday you will be able to find one that will listen to you too. I also hope that even though your doctor is a dick, you are still proud of yourself for how hard you do work.
Fun fact: I was super into Bones as a teen, and remember a behind the scenes interview with some of the cast members where they were asked about the bodies they used in the show. They said something along the lines of how the bodies were actually made in part with sugar! that the bodies always smelled really sweet and delicious, but they always looked so grotesque that it was such an odd juxtaposition to face every time.
Yes it's not an accurate accent to any part of Iran or Jordan 😂 It really is just a crispy foreigner accent that American actors put on to sound like ✨one of us.✨ I wish they'd just do without the weird accent but they needed the stupid B plot.
What makes you say that? Like he misses some words, like he said "why" without saying the W as a V but no one says every word with a completely consistent accent. I know plenty of Persians, my family and my fiance's included, and none of us would have an issue picking up his accent is supposed to be Farsi-speaking. The actor himself is Iranian ethnically so he's probably just copying his parents' accent (albeit not perfectly)
In case you didn't know, a lot of actors are told they *have* to do that accent for the part. It's especially common with Indian roles. I can't remember who it was, but I remember an Indian actor talking about going into a room with a bunch of other famous Indian actors/comedians. One of them went in to audition, then stormed out while saying they shouldn't be asking for that accent. A lot of the actors stayed though, because roles without an accent requirement can be so hard to find. It's not my place to say what is right or wrong to do in that situation, I completely understand. I also love seeing roles with non-Americans where they are speaking in their natural, more subtle accent. The increase in roles not requiring accents is great, but slow. Either way, I just wanted to let you know that it's usually not the actors choice.
Actually, best damned ad read I've heard in ages. Thank you for putting real effort into making an interesting & engaging one. I appreciate that, for the first time in easily 6 months i listened to a full ad read.
Your coverage of Bones has been so much fun! I feel the show is not talked about enough with how wild it is. Also I hope you can find a better doctor. Too many of them seem to forget that they're treating real people who actually might know a thing or two about the bodies they live in. I've been dismissed so many times cause of my chronic spinal deformity and in regards to my daughter's disability just cause I'm poor and afab, it's astounding.
I feel like no matter what issue I am having medically the answer according to drs is always "have you tried being less fat and crazy" Like yeah and I was still having issues when I was thin and mentally stable thanks though I'm glad I'm paying $500 for this
I made it to the end. The med stuff is very relatable. As is the doctor stuff. I had a very similar situation. I was retaining water because of my meds and no doctor would listen. It feels so freaking terrible. Doctor's should be less ignorant to medication side effects. Especially weight gain. I hope your medication change goes as smoothly as these things can go. ❤
I'm going through the exact same thing as your Effexor, but with Lexapro. I had lost about 70lbs over the course of 2 years (after narcolepsy with cataplexy, which caused the weight gain, was finally diagnosed and treated). We doubled my Lexapro for the Cataplexy, and I unfortunately gained 26 lbs. It was in my psychiatrists appt just a few hours ago that we finally decided to try something else. I'm so fed up with buying clothes over and over as I've gained, lost, and now regained weight. I wish you luck with Prozac. I'm going on an SNRI called Cymbalta, which might work even better. All I know is I'm going on daily fish oil for the head zaps that come with Lexapro withdrawal. (It actually, factually, helps!)
i’m on cymbalta for depression and fibromyalgia, and i personally love it!! i don’t think it’s caused any weight gain (i’ve actually lost weight- but that’s because of the ADHD meds and Testosterone lol), and i haven’t noticed any negative side effects. it reduces my pain days so i can get out more and do stuff, i can work my full-time food service job without wanting to pass out and die, and it just makes me feel less empty and gloomy.
I'm just deeply confused by Arastoo's fake backstroy now. How come no one questioned the "Jordanian accent" part? I mean, I'm sure there are Iranians who live in Jordan, because no country is ethnically homogeneous, but I don't think there is a thriving community of Farsi speakers in Jordan for there to be a distinct regional accent... unless he is ethnically Iranian, but an Arabic speaker? I don't know... for a bunch of detectives someone should have clocked that easily.
this is my first video of yours and i watched all the way through, you are EXACTLY the kind of channel i have been looking to find and i can't wait to look back through your videos! listening to your videos feels so cozy. i am wishing you all the best with your help, and i am SO sorry you had such a weird interaction with your doctor. it is very strange for him to have done charting with you in the room ??? i wish you all the best with your health! and i like your sweater!
Willie you are my favorite RUclipsr. Unfortunately I am a minor and cannot become a member or anything so i just have to say, good job on graduating spy school that one time
I discovered you and drawfee separate, thought you sounded familiar until you brought up drawfee in a vid and I said "OH OH YOU'RE *WILLIE* WILLIE Ps, I crochet along with your videos
This video is such a nice surprise. I've been very stressed out for the past 24 hours because of sudden accident-related car issues and college finals, so I just want to say "thank you, Willie!" for helping me take my mind off of it for a little while.
saying he’s faking his accent is also weird though. my sister in law was dating a man from india and he had no accent when speaking with us but would code switch into an accent when talking to his parents.
i really enjoy your random thoughts at the end of your videos when you're doing the thumbnail, it feels like im listening to a friend just updating me on their life or sharing whatever theyve been thinking about, please keep them in!! :)
I actually really enjoyed the little rant about antidepressants and weight. As someone who has been on antidepressants and other psychiatric medications for years, I definitely feel the frustration of “why am I gaining weight?” It was very cathartic to hear a person talk candidly about the effects of antidepressants.
Hey Willie, I hope you're doing okay, I really love your video essays. I think it's criminal how badly the algorithm seems to hose you. Keep up the good work I hope you know at least that I value your insights and comedy. Best wishes and happy holidays.
Also. My literal FAVORITE episode of American dad parodies bones in the episode ‘mo money mo problems’. I went through a period where I watched that episode literally every night before bed and I always laughed at the bones joke but I’ve never seen an episode in my life until your review.
I remember watching The Golden Girls answer the question about why gay people would want to marry. It was 20 years before this show and holds up WAY better than this.
I honestly laughed like a dork at that thumbnail, well done! And 2 minutes in, the ad read is officially getting me dirty looks from everyone else just trying to enjoy their lunch breaks... you haven't even made it to the video proper, and it's already one of my favorites!
Thank you for these videos, not enough people talk about ‘Bones’. It’s one of my favorite series that I got into waaaay too young. I remember watching the shows premier the night it came out. I was 9 years old. 😂 idk how I talked my parents into letting me watch and consistently keep watching the show. Please please please continue this series. I’d love if you could cover the crazy Zach storyline, talk about crossing ethical and legal work/relationship lines 😂
i honestly always love watching your videos!! the end bit always feels like a mini podcast i get to tune into so i enjoy that part as well!!! i'm also loving your reviews of Bones since i have rewatched the show so many times myself!!!
Hope you’re off the Effexor and things are good for you now! (I HATE that med!! And too quick withdrawal gave me “brain zaps” which is less fun than it sounds). Sending you good vibes ❤
If you ever do happen to go on/off an SSRI or SNRI again, omega vitamins (fish oil) is like GOLD. The research as to why it helps lessen the symptoms of withdrawal is still minor, but it has been proven to help. It's one of those things that sounds like uneducated and frustrating (but well intentioned) advice at first, but actually has been established as scientific fact.
-Watch the opening clip and create a character based on one of the immediately discarded body-finders -See a picture of the body and draw their best guess of how the murder played out -See a picture of the body and draw what they guess was the cold open
Watching this on my phone while working on my computer, and the moment you told me to take my hand off the mouse, I looked over in question... then remembered you are not on my computer.
I watched the end part and really appreciate you sharing. Maintenance Phase really educated me about the nightmare doctor experiences, and I think it's great people understand how fucked up and pervasive it is... That's usually the first step to changing things. Sorry you had to sit through that, and grateful you can talk about it ❤
Hey Willie! Loved the Bones video, the sponsor story, and BOY can I relate with a lot of those med/weight problems. It's only recently that my own weight stuff has finally been improving thanks to Wegovy/semi-glutide finally calming down a lot of impulses regarding food- it can be a really rough med with side effects, and having switched anxiety meds before I know how slow and awful it can be. Hopefully you successfully switch off soon and start feeling better! (Also as a fellow crafty person I laughed aloud at "I hate yarn", I FEEL that frustration whenever I'm struggling sewing or my pattern makes unwanted lumpy shapes) Keep up the great work, and don't worry I'm all too glad to watch the entire video and all your rambles!
I actually would watch you talk about every single episode of Bones. It was my sister’s favorite show when it was on so I caught a good portion of it, and I really love your commentary.
unless im just commenting to early (paused at 32min) but im now scared for the eventually video on the 9/11 episode with Arastoo. i have mild PTSD from watching that episode
For me, the funniest part is asking a Muslim how they can be a scientist. In Christianity, science conflicts with religion. But in Islam, there were things revealed in the Quran scientists are just discovering today. So….
Many famous scientists in European and American history have been Christian. Saying Christianity is anti science isn’t *new* see any old anti evolutionary protest but it does feel like something that has become more prominent over the last 100 some odd years
Plus a ton of scientists are Christian even if they’re quiet about. At least the ones I’ve interacted with don’t seem to be less likely to be religious at all
@@Cocoanutty0 Yeah. There are a lot of Christians who accept that the Bible is a document that was written by humans and has been edited and re-edited hundreds if not thousands of times. They take the main points (pretty much "hold yourself accountable, hold others accountable, and be a good person") and don't worry about all the weirdly specific stuff that was likely a metaphor to begin with. Those tend to be the types in sciences
@ my astronomy professor was catholic, and he just avoided questions about it. He would say, “it could be God, it could be the Big Bang, it could be 2 aliens with jumper cables.” Which is a copout. Muslims I know never use this excuse. They point to the Quran as proof.
I'm having the same trouble you are talking about at the end...I am at my highest weight ever, but am walking MORE than ever. However, I HAVE lowered my cholesterol dramatically and stabilized my A1C just below the "at risk for diabetes" stage. Very frustrating. I would LOVE to lose weight but alas, easier said than done. My first thought at the accent slip in the Bones episode was that the accent was just too hard to maintain so they wrote it in. Also. "I'm not a spy" is OBVIOUSLY something a spy would say.
I'm also in the process of coming off Efexor and trying to lose weight. Hearing you talk about it was nice, comforting to hear other people in similar situations. Thank you for being open about these things.
Haven't finished the video yet only five minutes in but I gotta say the energy in this video is immaculate I don't think I've seen willie with that much energy except when he's making the drawfee crew suffer

ad read was genuinely hilarious, love that they let you do that (like of course they should, it makes people like me more likely to watch the ad read, but most companies never figure that out)
Why is the character's immediate assumption that he's faking his accent?
I guarantee the writers didn't consider that yeah
It's decidedly weird that people think pigs are Muslim Kryptonite.
Holy crap i got so invested in the elf narrative i forgot it was an ad segue.
I genuinely wanted more lore
I didn't even realize it was an ad read to begin with! 😂😂 That was so great haha
That'd be way more unbelievable. Because he switched back immediately when he said sorry and he needed to pray. So that would make ZERO sense
That is way too nuanced for the time this show came out
that charred body in the firepit with AVIATOR SUNGLASSES ON was so FUNNY holy shit like. did no one realize??? that those sunglasses would make that look hilarious??? or am i just a bad person idk
They killed Horatio Caine 😱
Bones is a comedy
I was actually intrigued as to how they were gling tl make the bones easily distinguisable from all the charcoal.
I also laughed out loud.
I immediately thought of the first locked tomb book. So it was less funny more "OMG GIDEON! What are you doing here?"
i had to pause to giggle at it i cannot lie they were the FIRST thing i saw when the body came up
The one lady pressing and pressing the Muslim guy on how the pig must be offensive after he says it's fine reminds me of this time I was playing D&D and one of the topics was triggering for me and I had to bow out for a moment until that bit was over and afterwards the DM and character in question kept apologizing over and over after I said I was fine, and eventually I was like "this is actually more uncomfortable, I'd appreciate if we can just move on." Not that I know what it's like to be a religious minority, but it's the feeling of someone thinking they're being sensitive but just making you increasingly uncomfortable about something about you that's 'different'
yeah, at that point they're singling you out :') that just makes it worse
HEY LOOK!! EVERYONE LOOK!! IM BEING SO ACCOMMODATING AND SO UNDERSTANDING!! SEE!! DO YOU SEE?!?!
Yeah it becomes about you making sure THEY’RE not uncomfortable or upset for thinking they’re a bad person for doing something wrong even unintentionally instead of them going “oh okay, I’m sorry, I won’t do that again, let’s move on”.
reminds me of how when you correct cis people on your pronouns they’ll act as if you called them a murderer
That guy in the background asked if a whole ass pig was kosher.
No.
suburban dad joke, its just enough offensive
Hopefully he was joking?
the half-assed laughter from the others sold it. "Har-de-har, Bob, it was almost funny the first three times."
I'll be honest as a jewish person I probably would make some dumb joke like that at a BBQ, that being said it would simply be funnier if I said it lmao
I was literally just about to point this out I'm glad someone else noticed
The way that the woman was asking about like, all the "barbaric" and "outdated" Muslim rules/traditions as though Christianity is any better??? I know jack shit about either, but I do know that 1. They're based on the same older religion, and 2. Christianity endorses and commends some WILD shit
Christianity is literally older than Islam, so, yeah, the only reason its not more "outdated" to people's minds is that they went to Sunday school growing up.
Christianity is older than Islam lmao.
no shaving is in the bible
@@elizakarnopp8921 I don't think it's quite accurate to say they're based on the same older religion, they do have some stuff in common though
Christianity doesn't advocate for the killing of apostates like in Islam.
I once dog sat for a couple that gave their dog grapes as snacks/treats. They were very specific the dog only got grapes .
The ad read hook was so good, killed me
I'm dead too
Same! I enjoyed it a lot
Was brilliant.
Willie Muse, One of the Best to Ever Do It
Were you the elf he killed?
13:15 “Hey everybody, looks like it was Kurt!” omg. that is so funny
The writer's chose chocolate laxatives but didn't know chocolate can kill dogs? They focused on the laxative?
😂😂 I thought that was odd too
I thought the same thing!
Pretty sure the implication was the chocolate.
16:20 are they gonna ignore that the dude not only gave the dog a laxative but a CHOCOLATE laxative. Hello bones? Uh chocolate can kill dogs.
I think a chocolate laxative is just chocolate.
Chocolate isn't any more lethal to dogs than humans. "Dogs are allergic to chocolate" is a myth.
@@christopherhammond5142no it's chocolate with laxatives

My sleep doctor tried pulling the "lose weight" on me and I just said "okay but this is my CURRENT weight so how about you help me how I am now, huh?"
Thankfully he understood what I meant but it really sucks when doctors act like weight is the only factor in health.
I laugh out loud during every video.
okay but he’s an autistic youtuber so i’d bet good money *his* typical viewer is autistic (me too)

dr saroyan flipping from being overbearing about workplace sensitivity with Arastoo's religion to accusatory about his accent is wild to me, like ohh, that really was a performance wasn't it lmao
Edit: Also don't worry Willie, so many doctors just zero in on weight no matter how healthy you're being. i went to see an endocrinologist who used bmi to measure how healthy I was, despite the fact bmi is outdated and bullshit and I told him I was working out to build muscle (which like... muscle weighs a tonne).
Willie you CANNOT look straight down the camera and coyly say "I'm on the naughty list" I came here for a scathing and funny review of an old TV show not to be made to need a cold shower
also i hope your drug change goes well, changing brain drugs sucks
I just realized I actually sat through that whole ad read- that was very creative 😂
43:40 PLEASE DONT. THIS IS MY FAVORITE PART OF ALL OF YOUR VIDEOS!! Unless it really is hurting your stats, you have to do what’s best for you!!
the change in behavior is interesting and something i slightly relate to, though i doubt the writers put that much thought into it. there are times where some slight "self-infantilization" is part of code-switching, i myself end up doing it in some cases despite loathing being infantalized, because sometimes its just easier to seem naive and innocent or let a joke pass instead of having to give a whole class on how a coworker is being racist when this isn't what you signed up for
in this case it makes a lot of sense he would do that as part of avoiding the whole "its the early 00s and all muslims get accused of terrorism or religious fanaticism", he didn't express any anger he might've felt or talk back abt dumb assumptions bc it was extremely easy for a muslim man to be seen as aggressive and dangerous for just standing up for himself. unfortunately the way it all happened and the lack of acknowledgement by the characters makes it pretty clear it was more an accident on the writers' part, they got accused of going too into one group of stereotypes and hard-pivoted to "hes just a normal american guy like any of us! see? he even made an edgy joke!" which leads to some pretty clumsy execution of what could be such a good plot point in a better show......
I read all this and watched the whole video, and enjoyed both.
Honestly, the fact that Incogni was cool with you doing that lead in was probably the best endorsement they could have ever received 😂
I don't have anything meaningful to contribute to the conversation. So have some money instead. Good work as always, Willie!
Effexor withdraw is the worst! You have my sympathy
I feel like no matter what issue I am having medically the answer according to drs is always "have you tried being less fat and crazy"
Like yeah and I was still having issues when I was thin and mentally stable thanks though I'm glad I'm paying $500 for this
I made it to the end. ❤
15:23 not defending Bones writing but chocolate is toxic for dogs. I don't think the owner was refering to the laxatives.
Omg I think we were in the same class at spy school

Commenting so that the algorithm boosts this video and brings Willie many news subscribers, inshallah
Also good luck with the med switching, that's always so stressful
Willie you are my favorite RUclipsr. Unfortunately I am a minor and cannot become a member or anything so i just have to say, good job on graduating spy school that one time
I discovered you and drawfee separate, thought you sounded familiar until you brought up drawfee in a vid and I said "OH OH YOU'RE *WILLIE* WILLIE
Ps, I crochet along with your videos
Yes, I love a deep dive on ‘Bones’ so thank you ❤
P.S. Can’t believe I missed the video on Arastoo. I loved the actor who played him.
Pej Vahdat is so cute....
A pity he's married.... 😢
I think you should have gotten rewarded for sharing Swedish secrets with Norway.
Also. My literal FAVORITE episode of American dad parodies bones in the episode ‘mo money mo problems’. I went through a period where I watched that episode literally every night before bed and I always laughed at the bones joke but I’ve never seen an episode in my life until your review.
The noise you made before "I hate yarn" gives me life. That whole bit actually.
I adore how chaotic you are in all your videos and I make sure to watch to the end as your rambles and poses are honestly gold.
I remember watching The Golden Girls answer the question about why gay people would want to marry. It was 20 years before this show and holds up WAY better than this.
I love the ramble section ❤
this isn't important but I think the "chocolate laxatives" were a problem because chocolate can be fatal to dogs
Thinking back to Bones as i click the title of this video: "I can believe that."
I honestly laughed like a dork at that thumbnail, well done!
And 2 minutes in, the ad read is officially getting me dirty looks from everyone else just trying to enjoy their lunch breaks... you haven't even made it to the video proper, and it's already one of my favorites!
I honestly think your sweater is very flattering! It looks cozy, and like it fits just right!
That was the funniest ad I've seen yet and paused the vid to say this. I can't wait to watch the rest as I already love you. Holy shit!! 😂😂
i honestly always love watching your videos!! the end bit always feels like a mini podcast i get to tune into so i enjoy that part as well!!! i'm also loving your reviews of Bones since i have rewatched the show so many times myself!!!
Petition for you to do a Drawfee episode that's a Bones Game
I don't even know what that would entail, but.
-Watch the opening clip and create a character based on one of the immediately discarded body-finders
-See a picture of the body and draw their best guess of how the murder played out
-See a picture of the body and draw what they guess was the cold open
I watched the whole thing and would love to hear more about your teleprompter and monitor setup.
Bold of Willie to assume I'm using a mouse. Or a computer.
The fact that the gays weren't both sleeping with the gardener is a tragedy... that would of been a better representation of gay culture.
Sorry you had to sit through that, and grateful you can talk about it ❤
Free raffle behind a pay wall is still an illegal lottery. It's why patron had to Crack down on raffles a few years back
… concerning…
Jesus Christ, your ability to spin deep lore just to set up an ad gets me every time
(Also as a fellow crafty person I laughed aloud at "I hate yarn", I FEEL that frustration whenever I'm struggling sewing or my pattern makes unwanted lumpy shapes)
Keep up the great work, and don't worry I'm all too glad to watch the entire video and all your rambles!
I actually would watch you talk about every single episode of Bones. It was my sister’s favorite show when it was on so I caught a good portion of it, and I really love your commentary.
“I’m super not a spy.”
Hmm, sounds like something a spy would say..
I was really wondering when the racism would come up and I was not prepared.
unless im just commenting to early (paused at 32min) but im now scared for the eventually video on the 9/11 episode with Arastoo. i have mild PTSD from watching that episode
Thanks for another video!
As a 33 year old who grew up through all this, I'm still of the opinion of: "yikes".
For me, the funniest part is asking a Muslim how they can be a scientist. In Christianity, science conflicts with religion. But in Islam, there were things revealed in the Quran scientists are just discovering today. So….
Many famous scientists in European and American history have been Christian. Saying Christianity is anti science isn’t *new* see any old anti evolutionary protest but it does feel like something that has become more prominent over the last 100 some odd years
As if Muslims didn't observe and document way more scientific advancements than Christians especially pre-Colonization Age 🤷♀
I don't know about everyone else, but I like your off-tangent rambles and generally watch your videos to the very end
45:35 you are a celebrity, Willie. ❤
i normally just listen to these videos like a podcast but theres something so satisfying about watching the knitting on this channel
Hearing you say “I hate yarn” was like hearing Santa say “I hate children” 🥺
I'm also in the process of coming off Efexor and trying to lose weight. Hearing you talk about it was nice, comforting to hear other people in similar situations. Thank you for being open about these things.
Haven't finished the video yet only five minutes in but I gotta say the energy in this video is immaculate I don't think I've seen willie with that much energy except when he's making the drawfee crew suffer
I don't know if it's impressive or unfortunate (for Willie) that the elf narrative didn't feel absurd. Maybe even plausible. 😈
You look like my favorite Drawfee guest celebrity Willie Muse
He is ?
@ my favorite Drawfee guest? Absolutely.
the willie muse drawfee guest with his platonic life partner, matt?
@ the very same! (I’m only good with celebrity look-a-like games while waiting for a flight in an airport bar)
Willie can you watch the Mufasa movie and give us an update on his moral failings? Your old Mufasa video is one of my faves.
