I usually just go with which string(s) is/are available at my local badminton store/sports shop and don't really care about other details, but now I think I want to snap my string and get it restrung. Thanks coach!
All of your videos are excellent but this one is a few notches higher. Superbly done is an understatement! Last summer I started using the BG66 Ultimax and it's my favorite string!
👍👍, the sound bite on each string really helps me having a virtual “feel” with the string at hand. Keep up with your great work and love your video 🙏🙏!

Nice! Long time coming for someone to technically explain the strings! Thank you. I think you should explain what the purpose is for textured/smooth string, as well as hard/soft feeling. My take on it would be with textured the slices are much easier to achieve as it holds the shuttle for longer. When you engage power however you need to be more precise as the angle changes much easier than smoother strings. With harder string it's generally less forgiving when mis-hits etc, you will feel the vibrations more on the racket and perhaps more prone to injury? What it gives is sensitivity to shot power, ie when you do dead drops, net tumbles etc it's much easier to feel the shot. I also find changing tensions will affect these attributes so it's a bit of a minefield when you get into it properly! In addition, some people say model of strings have "sweetspot" for tensions, which is another can of worms! Mixing strings is another can of worms... So many possible video topics on just strings!
My go to is the ZYMAX 62f white (~28lbs). Feels marginally softer than 66um (and sound isn't great) but durability for me is much longer. Currently using their ashaway hybrid which is even softer but it has nice grab and power, rough mains smooth crosses. Not as crisp as aerobites etc.
I found that the more a string is textured, the more abrasive it is and the earlier it will break by normal wear in the sweet spot. I used to string with NBG 99, it has a great grip on the shuttle but I went through it in 4 weeks. Now I use BG66UM which is less textured and also thinner, but I get 6 to 8 weeks of play between restring. I had the same experience with the BG80 because it is also very textured. So the diameter is not the only factor that impacts durability.
This is my first time watching and did not expect that badminton strings has variation. Will probably watch this again for me to digest :D Thank you man!
Nice review, thank you! Personally, I like hybrid stringing - My favorite so far was BG 80 Power + Aerosonic. Now I try Bg 80 power + Exbolt 63 and it's even better :) I like the control that Aerosonic gives, but with Exbolt 63 I didn't feel less control but with better Repulsion!
@@michaelreyes2637 Hey, I'm trying a different combination with hybrid stringing. BG80 + Exbolt 63 is more for control (as I see it), recently I found that for smashes NANOGY + Aerosonic is better, again with 12.5kg+ tension, and it lasts much longer than BG80. Or maybe you can try a combination with BG 66 strings for smashes also :)
In my experiences used BG 65 Ti (26 lbs) was very durable, it was discharged for 4 months with 2-3 times play in a week and 2-3 hours intensity. Well, the weight of the string will affect your racket balance and my racket balance came to more heavier in the head. In my opinio, I rather to choose BG 65 TI than BG 80
I can’t agree enough with the Exbolt63 stiffness!! When i first strung it 27lbs on my Duora10 switching from BG66Um 27lbs, I immediately felt the stiffness. It’s so hard to play with! And it took me months to get use to it! And coincidentally, it just broke today after you launched this video. 😂
Yes finally! I have a couple of NBG99 on standby (LOVE THEM!), or I’ll simply try out NBG98 since I loved BG66um so much but had to switch due to the durability. 😂
Dude, this video is amazing... Ive never had it explained so clearly and precisely. If Yonex is watching this, I hope they reimbursed you for all those strings

currently using 66um and its great. Used to use 65ti and I hated it. too slippery and boring to use. only thing is I had it strung about 9 years ago, quit badminton, and have now started again and the string has still not broken. 65ti is honestly made of steel or something
What do you think about the playing feel vs durability of 66Umx and Nbg98? I LOVE 66umx but i break them too often! Does nbg98 give similar playing feels while having better durability?
@@CKYew Stopped me from trying the BG66 Force after the Ultimax which I have now which would have been kind of a waste. They're expensive but I think I will try the Aerobite next for a really different experience as I continue exploring play styles.
My personal favourites are BG66 Force (Feels more powerful than the other 66s), Exbolt 63 (Repulsion) and Aerobite (Control, no strings beat this one).
I played twice a week and my favorite string are 1. Aerobite boost 2. Bg80 power 3. Bg66 ultimax 4. Zymax 66 fire 5. Lining no 1 boost I prefer harder feeling string because I play at 28 lbs and for me it feel better for net shot and drop shot compared to the medium feel string.
Did you ever use aerobite? Cause i like the feel of control from aerobite, it was amazing but for my playing style that use hard smash for my arsenal, the 0.61 string tends to break, it only hold on for 2 weeks. Do i need to try nanogy 99 , aerobite boost, or any other strings ?( i haven’t try hard feeling strings yet) Any suggestions would be helpful thankyou.
@@jonathanlayadi nanogy 99 doesn’t have that much bite compare to aerobite, it’s a thick string and i feel it punishing if i dont hit the sweet spot. Its more soft feeling rather than medium feeling but because its thick the string can’t easily break, i used it for 2 months now (i played 2 days a week) Maybe try using nanogy 98? I have been using it for 2 weeks now and i really like the feeling of it, doesn’t have that much bite compare to nanogy 99 but not that punishing if im miss hit also the sound that it produced much louder compare to nanogy 99
Nice video! Probably, same string will feel different depending on the tension applied, racket used, skill of the stringer, climate, etc. Also, few international players prefer their strings pre-stretched; does that really have an effect? Beside, few strings hold tension much better than the other. Thinner strings perform better at higher tensions.
So far I've only tried BG65ti, NBG95, NBG98, XB63, and BG80p. I haven't had any issues w/ NGB98 breaking, but the could just be me using it at 24lbs. My personal favorites are 65ti for being my baseline string, XB63 for the repulsion and perfect texture for my preference, and 80p just for that shot feedback. It's interesting how the XXti strings really do come alive more than other string at 30lbs.
@@CKYew Good thing I didn't prefer it cuz of how slippery it is lol XB63 has some really nice texture to it to have a decent bite on the strings, while having a punchy feeling on overheads on top of a relatively stiff feeling for feedback. Thanks for a great video. I always come back to this video before changing to a different string. By now is aerobite still your favourite string over exbolt 63? I like nanogy 98 as well. What do you think about exbolt 65 vs nanogy 98? Thx
Hi! U mentioned that NBG98 is not very durable, so how does it compare to 66Ultimax? By right ultimax has 0.65mm which would be less durable but what do u feel or think? Which string is more durable? Thanks!
For me personally nbg98 at 24lbs lasts a very long time.. longer than my bg80 lasted me and much longer than bg66. Bg66 snapped after 2 weeks whereas nbg98 lasts 2-3.5 months, never used bg66 ultimax but if it’s similar to bg66 then u will snap it very fast
What is smashing with Aerobite like, compared to smashing with BG80? At first, BG80 felt as if I was smashing with a frying pan, because I'd previously used BG66 ultimax. I really like it now, but I'm curious as to what Aerobite is like 👀🤔. The one thing holding me back, is what the durability of Aerobite is like. I've been using BG80 for 6 months or more and haven't felt the need to get a restring. Compared to BG66 ultimax, where it felt like I needed a restring within a month, that is really impressive. 😯
i have an apacs vanguard 11 with the bg 66 ultimax string at 29 lbs tension and leme tell you something, the tosses and clears with this racket just feel insanely good. highly recommend the 66 ultimax :)
What is missing from the manufacturers rating is the recommended tensions for the string, which I consider just as vital as recommended tension for the racquets.
Its tough to recommend tensions because everyone has their own preference
2 года назад
@@CKYew True enough, but the manufacturer knows what stress can be applied to the material, also the string reaction to different tensions. if they specify the string characteristics, they should recommend the range of tensions for optimal performance.
Hi CK! Have you tried the BladeX 800 before? / if you have , could you give me your opinion on in? I just got one and it feels hollow to me, even though i use stiff rackets anyway, i think that it is because i have never used a head light racket before, but now i am just a little bummed out cause this is a racket at a premium price but i am unable to fully utilised it.
Hey CK! I got a quick question, what string should I use for even balance rackets like Arcsaber 7 Play, Arcsaber 11 Play and Arcsaber 71 Light? I couldn't figure out or research what string I should use for these rackets, I use 26lbs tension right now and I could really use your recommendation on what string I should use for these rackets. Thanks for your time!
Great review! Just a question, between BG 66 ultimax and BG 80, which of them has more repulsion power, control, and better hitting sound? Also give me your thoughts on BG 80 power
Hi Yew! For control strings like Aerobite, are they durable? If they are not that durable, which strings do you recommend that have good control and are quite durable. Thanks
Thank you so much for this round up. Ishare similar impressions when it come to the famous strings. Aerosonic and BG66 ultimax where my go to for medium and fun play. For doubles BG80 was my choice with it hard feel and control oriented feedback but its difficult to get the lenght on clears with it. The exbolt 63 might be my next favorite since it blends thin gauge but hard feel.
Hi CK Yew! I've bought the new arcsaber 11 play with the string of BG-65 the performance is so brilliant but the hitting sound is not crispy for me. What string would you recommend to increase the hitting sound of my racket?
Good to hear you're enjoying your 11 Play. Yes, the 65 is a thick string, if you want nicer sounding strings, you'll have to go for something thinner but be careful, they do break if you mishit.
Before, i'm using felet ultramax .66 and my smash is very powerful. I switch to exbolt 65 and the control is very good but the power of my smash lessen. What yonex string can you suggest that is better than felet ultramax that can also give more power in smashing????? Sorry for my english.
In Malaysia, the BG66 has been replaced by BG66 Brilliant. It’s my current got to string in terms of feel and durability. I feel that BG66 Force is very mushy and numb when I have them on my racket. I find that Exbolt is not as durable as I want to. I agree with your observation of the ABB. NBG98 ftw!
Yeah, 66 Brilliant is a Yonex Sunrise only string so only available in SEA + a few others. For a 0.63mm string, I think Exbolt has excellent durability! 😂
if you want to have effortless clears and more powerful smashes i recommend the bg66 force. It is actually so easy to hit clears with this string, barely any force at all, you can really feel the difference.
you have mentioned yonex aerobite is your favourite is that the Yonex Aerobite Hybrid - 0.67/0.61mm ? or how is this strong for repulsion compared to exbolt 63?
Loved every bit of it. Great video as always ! Currently only on BG80 Power and Nanogy 98 for my two rackets! probably will think abt Exbolt once I get hold of the Arcsaber 11 pro.
@@CKYew the only thing I am worried abt is the durability of the 63, havent used one and tbh, with no "professional" aka knowledgeable stringers around it is hard work telling my local stringer how to do it. 😅
Hi CK, I'm a 13 year old county singles player and my strings on my yonex astrox 100zz have just broke so I'm looking for a re-string. I really like the specifications of the bg66 ultimax but am really concerned with the durability as I would rather not pay for often re-strings. I know it's hard but would it be possible to give a rough prediction of how long this string would last?
Its impossible to give a definite durability but as a super thin string, it wouldn't last very long if you're playing 4-6 hours a week on a single racket.
Do you know how the strings from Li Ning and Victor compare to Yonex strings? Yonex currently seems to have a shortness of supplies with their strings, at least in my country. So, I'm looking more towards Li Ning and Victor right now, as their strings have currently much better availability here.
Hi CK, thanks for this video. It is very helpful me. Would be appreciated if you could make a video to go into details on the Tension, String feelings (Soft, Medium & Hard) and recommendation. That will be very helpful.
Great video! Finally, an extensive video about strings, their attributes, and personal opinions! I'm thinking of restring my racket but the only strings that I've ever use is the bg 66 Ultimax at 26 lbs. However, as I tried out other people's rackets, I found out I prefer strings that has the best solid feeling over anything else. If that's the case, should I simply string the bg 66 Ultimax higher? Or should I look into other strings such as the bg 80 or other "hard feeling" strings? Thanks!!
@@CKYew Or maybe try the Exbolt 63 (might be a bit more durable ?), 66 Ultimaxx used to be my favourite string but the Exbolt is now the favourite although I also like the BG80 a lot.
So after all of that what string would you recommend for someone who plays once or twice a week at an intermediate level? I’m planning on buying an arcsaber pro to replace my old voltrix.
I ussualy use string BG 66 Ultimax, Bg 80, Bg 85 and Nanogy 98 ...this time i would like to try AEROBITE with the new ARCSABER 11 PRO, hopefully, AEROBITE will get me satisfied
Hi, im using bg80 now with tension 29 would like to know how is bg80 power compare to bg80? Will 80p tension drop faster than 80? Cuz its quite controversial, some said 80 some said 80P drop faster 😅
Tension drops are expected as they're nylon filaments which stretch although there shouldnt be a significant difference in tension drops between the 80 and 80P.
My favourite is bg65 because I can get it in purple. And my main racket in the past was a ti10 3rd gen. After that broke I got an arcsaber 11 with red strings but never really got used to it and kinda stopped playing for awhile. Actually maybe it was a bg65ti back then as well, they don't list purple anymore though. I somehow broke like 3 of those strings. Now it's a ryuga 2 so back to purple strings. What strings does Yonex usually give prestrung though? I still have the original string on my ti zero, it never broke because I usually only used it when my arm got tired of swinging the ti10
Hi, i have used NG-95 a couple of times at 26p, but broke after three games. I play really fast games with good feel. Now i turned myself to the old version of BG 65 at 26p. What should i do to maintain the durability of NG95. What are your suggestions for more durable strings for fast games?
It shouldn’t be breaking after a few games. The 95 is an extremely durable string. Check your stringer is replacing any worn grommets during restrings too

Informative, thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for a great video. I always come back to this video before changing to a different string. By now is aerobite still your favourite string over exbolt 63? I like nanogy 98 as well. What do you think about exbolt 65 vs nanogy 98? Thx
Again Yew CK
Yew Completely Killed it!!
Yayyyyyy 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Best channel ever!
😊😊😊
How about BG66 brilliant
With current materials, thinner doesnt really mean less durability but your milage may vary depending on conditions 😬
Personally, I LOVE IT! 🤣 I've had no issues with Aerobite durability but dont expect 6 months if you're playing at least once/week.
i have an apacs vanguard 11 with the bg 66 ultimax string at 29 lbs tension and leme tell you something, the tosses and clears with this racket just feel insanely good. highly recommend the 66 ultimax :)
Sounds great!
What is missing from the manufacturers rating is the recommended tensions for the string, which I consider just as vital as recommended tension for the racquets.
Its tough to recommend tensions because everyone has their own preference
@@CKYew True enough, but the manufacturer knows what stress can be applied to the material, also the string reaction to different tensions. if they specify the string characteristics, they should recommend the range of tensions for optimal performance.
😂😂 they could literally go 16-35 lbs 😂
Its almost impossible for me to get hold of any Li Ning rackets so I've not tried the X800 before. I might as Zhang Nan if i see him at the AE 😂
I use arc 71 light and I don't know what string suits it well
Hi CK what string and tension do you suggest for astrox88s pro? Thanks
its up to you. i personally use around 27/28lbs and Aerobite but thats my fav. you'll have to find yours 😊
Great review! Just a question, between BG 66 ultimax and BG 80, which of them has more repulsion power, control, and better hitting sound? Also give me your thoughts on BG 80 power
Good question. Waiting for his response.
Hi Yew! For control strings like Aerobite, are they durable?
If they are not that durable, which strings do you recommend that have good control and are quite durable.
Thanks
I find them durable enough for me. If you're looking for more durability, perhaps the Nanogy 99?
Could you help compare the Aerobite and Xbolt 65?
Thank you
Welcome 😊
Thank you so much for this round up. Ishare similar impressions when it come to the famous strings.
Aerosonic and BG66 ultimax where my go to for medium and fun play.
For doubles BG80 was my choice with it hard feel and control oriented feedback but its difficult to get the lenght on clears with it.
The exbolt 63 might be my next favorite since it blends thin gauge but hard feel.
I'm currently using bg65ti. Comparing it to exbolt 65 or 63, how forgiving is it?
What's the difference between BG65 TI and BG80?
hello, minutes 10:00 you said NBG98 was your favorite string.
Right now what is your favorite string?
It was my fav for a long time. Now it’s Aerobite
Hello, between thin and thick string which is recommended for hard hitter player? And do soft, medium, and hard feeling sting affect to our play?
Feeling doesn’t affect play - technically. It’s just down to you. If you don’t mind restrings, thin strings will feel better
At what tension?
@@bran_donlo 25lbs, but its different for everyone
They sound amazing too!
Did you compare the 66 force with aerosonic?
you have mentioned yonex aerobite is your favourite is that the Yonex Aerobite Hybrid - 0.67/0.61mm ? or how is this strong for repulsion compared to exbolt 63?
Loved every bit of it. Great video as always ! Currently only on BG80 Power and Nanogy 98 for my two rackets! probably will think abt Exbolt once I get hold of the Arcsaber 11 pro.
Go for it!
@@CKYew the only thing I am worried abt is the durability of the 63, havent used one and tbh, with no "professional" aka knowledgeable stringers around it is hard work telling my local stringer how to do it. 😅
I've found the 63 to have good durability so I think you'll be ok with that. Maybe its time for you to start stringing your own rackets! 🤣
@@CKYew oh perfect.. might as well start doing dat 🤣👍
Best you tube video i have watched this year 🫂
a question
what role does feeling play in deciding which string to go for?
also what did u mean by slippery?
currently using nanogy 95 at 24 lbs
Try another string and you’ll understand why the nbg95 is slippery 👍🏼
What tensions do you recommend for the aerobite if I’m using plastic shuttles?
On the Lower end of the scale. Say maybe 23/24 lbs
Hi CK,
I'm a 13 year old county singles player and my strings on my yonex astrox 100zz have just broke so I'm looking for a re-string.
I’ve not tested much of Victor and Li Ning’s current offering so will be looking to do that in the future
Hi CK, thanks for this video. It is very helpful me.
Would be appreciated if you could make a video to go into details on the Tension, String feelings (Soft, Medium & Hard) and recommendation. That will be very helpful.
Strings are really down to individual preference. What works for me might not work for you and vice Versa
are replica yonex strings have big difference to original strings?
Great video! Finally, an extensive video about strings, their attributes, and personal opinions! I'm thinking of restring my racket but the only strings that I've ever use is the bg 66 Ultimax at 26 lbs. However, as I tried out other people's rackets, I found out I prefer strings that has the best solid feeling over anything else. If that's the case, should I simply string the bg 66 Ultimax higher? Or should I look into other strings such as the bg 80 or other "hard feeling" strings? Thanks!!
You should certainly play around with it so you know what you like best 👍 BG80 sounds like a logical step for you 😊
@@CKYew Or maybe try the Exbolt 63 (might be a bit more durable ?), 66 Ultimaxx used to be my favourite string but the Exbolt is now the favourite although I also like the BG80 a lot.
👍🏼
So after all of that what string would you recommend for someone who plays once or twice a week at an intermediate level?
I’m planning on buying an arcsaber pro to replace my old voltrix.
quite useful!
I ussualy use string BG 66 Ultimax, Bg 80, Bg 85 and Nanogy 98 ...this time i would like to try AEROBITE with the new ARCSABER 11 PRO, hopefully, AEROBITE will get me satisfied
Let us know what you think!
What are your thoughts on bg 66 brilliant?
Hi Ck May I ask what string you use personally?
are bg65 soft feeling 0.70mm good ?
Bg exbolt 65 vs 63 vs 66 ultimax which is good overall
Hi, im using bg80 now with tension 29 would like to know how is bg80 power compare to bg80? Will 80p tension drop faster than 80? Cuz its quite controversial, some said 80 some said 80P drop faster 😅
Tension drops are expected as they're nylon filaments which stretch although there shouldnt be a significant difference in tension drops between the 80 and 80P.
@@CKYew understood, thank you very much for replying. Love your vids keep up the good work 👍🏻
Hi CK , would you recommend the string for beginner like me . I haven't enough power to hit the shuttle in long distance.
Maybe something like the BG80?
@@CKYewBG80 string is repulsion power string right?
My favourite is bg65 because I can get it in purple. And my main racket in the past was a ti10 3rd gen. After that broke I got an arcsaber 11 with red strings but never really got used to it and kinda stopped playing for awhile.
Actually maybe it was a bg65ti back then as well, they don't list purple anymore though. I somehow broke like 3 of those strings.
Now it's a ryuga 2 so back to purple strings.
What strings does Yonex usually give prestrung though? I still have the original string on my ti zero, it never broke because I usually only used it when my arm got tired of swinging the ti10
what string do you think is the best for repulsion + soft feeling combination?
Aerosonic is pretty soft on its own 👍
Hi CK, which one is better, Aerobite or Aerobite Boost in terms of control especially for front court double players? Thank you.
They're both great! I personally prefer Aerobite but its up to you!
Did you ever do a review of the aerosonic string?
Hi, i have used NG-95 a couple of times at 26p, but broke after three games. I play really fast games with good feel. Now i turned myself to the old version of BG 65 at 26p.
What should i do to maintain the durability of NG95.
What are your suggestions for more durable strings for fast games?
Maybe there's something wrong with you NG 95 , I use NG 95 too and the string was last for 4 months. I play 2-3 times a week.
It shouldn’t be breaking after a few games. The 95 is an extremely durable string. Check your stringer is replacing any worn grommets during restrings too
Thanks for the prompt reply and suggestion.
What is the best tension for the Nbg 99, and is the Nbg 98 actually that bad in terms of durability and compared to other thin strings?
No single best tension so entirely down to your personal preference.
Best string for nylon shuttle
Hi Ck!!! I am using bg 80 power now. And I am consideing to change to 66 ultimax. What do you think about it? (26 pounds) Sound? Power? Durable? Thx!!
Why not?? Its always good to test out new strings
What would have also been helpful is if you had mentioned how each category of strings affects play
Hello i have a Yonex Astrox lite 27i i am an intermediate player level and what string could you suggest?im planning to buy a BG80 Hot pink and the tension i want to try is 28
very comprehensive! what do you think about 88dpro with aerobite 27lbs?
LOVE IT!!!! 🔥🔥
