I was in the United States Navy in the seventies. I was a kid that grew up on welfare and poor. When I joined the navy my ship did a West-pac from San Diego, California to Hawaii, Japan, Hong Kong the Philippines and Diego Garcia (India Ocean) that experience made me realize how extremely blessed that I was a United States citizen. The honor of being able to serve my country was such a privilege. I remember the last year that I worked I paid $67,000 in state and federal taxes. My friend said that’s crazy I told him “ that’s a small price to pay to have been bless to be born a United States citizen”

Yeah I hear you on that Frank. I bet it was wild times to be in the Navy in the 70's. My uncle retired from the Navy as a Master Chief. I know a lot of tax money gets wasted but it does afford a lot of freedoms.

Opportunities to Americans is HUGE compare to so many on this planet. It is a wonderful thing to travel abroad to personal better understand this. I served 14-years U.S. Army. My travels brought me to Central America, Africa, Europe, Asia, 43 U.S. states, etc. .. One big take away every time I returned back to the U.S. is we take for grant the clear air, water, medical, etc.

Oh yeah that's a fact...even though life can be boring here it is efficient and fair for the most part. You get out what you put in in America

I always proudly represent America and try to be as kind and respectful as possible. We are ambassadors like it or not. And there's a lot of rude foreigners..

Yes we are it is true. Even though a lot of the foreigners are not America I think many filipinos assume they are.

As a Filipino American with dual citizenship I will never bash the US like some other folks here on RUclips. They seem to forget that the reason why they're retired and live a comfortable life in the Philippines is because the US gave them that opportunity. With the average social security check they can live very comfortably while dining out anytime they want and not have to worry too much about their finances. Anytime I'm in the Philippines I'm always reminded of how much better it is in the US in so many ways (but not everything). I mean there's no comparison between a first world and a third world country when it comes to infrastructure, healthcare, access to basic necessities, efficiency/organization, etc. At the same time I'm not naive to know that the US obviously has its own set of problems - high cost of living, violence, homelessness, rat race, etc. But if you work hard and put yourself in a situation to better yourself you have that opportunity. I'm fortunate to know both cultures intimately as I was born in the Philippines, grew up in the US, and now live in both countries year around. Moreover, I'm blessed to have had the opportunity to work hard and save my hard earned money during the past couple decades to retire early. And that would have never happened if I didn't live in the US.

Wow I couldn't have said it better myself. I agree with you 100%. It is sad to see the bashing. Although there is a decline in America it is not yet as bad as people think and it tends to do well on RUclips because people leaving can monetize it. I will say I am proud to be American and it is true about getting out what you put in. It is not like that in a lot of countries. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Take care
