after watching so many different types of casts, i think my favorite thing about tastosis is that they are able to hype up a player to a degree that no other caster can do which makes the games that much more exciting
Game 3 @ Butter one of the best if not the best in the tournament so far. Sick series, well played by both but especially by the winner. That was awesome. GGs!
ASL S13 is just another level. Maybe because Rain and JD (who wasn't amazing but still quite good) are back. Maybe because every single player is just constantly developing. I don't know. And this Ro4 was by far the best one I've ever seen. Thanks for the 24-year of non-stop entertainment. I look forward to what they'll be cooking next.

I think its coz of how i view storms peeps went nuts becouse some of the storm drops just got massive damage, Which is nice but its also a sign of the other player playing sloppy and such, Thus i dont think this series was as 'close' and as 'awesome' as some peeps claim mostly coz to me i like to view things on both sides, Soma realy seemed like he was busy or distracted by something its a shame realy. im sure you love it as a Rain fan but I try to view it neutrol my boy Light is in the finals and i dont care which of these 2 make it, Shame to see Soma play like this however.

@@dirkauditore8413 Agreed, those guys are the real gamers. Unfortunately the only way to dodge those storms on your mineral line is to not play against Rain in the first place.
I love what Artosis said about feeling bad that your maxed army can't have full HP units anymore because you can't heal Protoss. I remember that mindset of just building up 200/200 of whatever my noob brain thought was the best unit with 3/3/3 upgrades and just A-moving. If you play that way, you really don't want hurt dudes.
1:10:45 I believe the 2nd gateway is a smart move after nexus first, heres my logic. With a normal gateway -> nexus -> cybernetics core build, you can only afford to build 2 probes and 1 zealot at a time while teching up. Thats all your money. By going nexus first after scouting his opponents delayed spawning pool, he is able to place his gateway after his nexus, and he is able to afford 2 probes and TWO zealots at a time whilst teching up. Thats why he got the 2nd gateway and slightly delayed his cybernetics core; because it allows him to better spend his resources and then utilize those resources to pressure the Zerg so that they are not droning up incessantly. Edit: I believe Rain was a bit wasteful with the zealots, I think you have to pressure out with your first 4/6, and then retreat, so that zerg is forced to build zerglings and not drones. You only truly push out when you have speed and +1. This is just my opinion tho, Rain is infinitely better than the game at I am. I'm just a good armchair analyst. :P
I think this analysis is pretty good. I think Rain was trying to throw soma off with an unusual timing for a Zealot harass. Unfortunately, soma countered it perfectly and minimized actual drone damage. I would have to watch that sequence carefully and count how many drones were killed + larva was made into Lings. I would say Rain was slightly ahead economically but gave up all of the map control and pressure until Zealot speed was finished. This allowed soma to recover economically and explode into the mid-game.
@@CentsOfFate64 Thank you. It is indeed always hard to tell how these types of situations go for both sides. I think that if he fake-pushed underneath the vision of the overlord at his natural he would "force" the zerg to make lings which in and of itself damage his economy by virtue of not being drones. After he pushes 1/2 way out the map, you send all but 1 zealot back and then push back out when they will trade more effectively. Again, easy to say and think these things while not playing, and I may be incorrect anyways.
Rain played like a GOD in this series. Soma has an incredible knack to just completely dismantle opponents in the early game, and Rain gave him no opportunity whatsoever. He controlled the tempo in every game and fully deserved the win. GG Rain
This match was really good. Game 2 and 3 were great. I love ASL, so many skirmishes all over the map and small mistakes that snowball into wins and losses. I love how in Brood War you almost never stabilize, it's a chaotic game when you're constantly attacking and getting attacked. Players all make mistakes, but the best are those who power through
It's honestly shocking how strong Rain looks considering the guy hasn't done pro play for yonks now. Edit: All throughout the series Rain never looked to be at a full on disadvantage. Even in games he lost they were far closer than anticipated.
Super impressed with Rain's play, it's like a mix of Bisu multitasking with Flash like game sense and macro. Soma played well but Rain was just too dam good.
I gotta watch these next season on the days they come out... been super busy this week and now I get spoilers from the Related Videos on the right... :(
Just a few seasons back, it felt like maybe Broodwar was not so balanced in the end because of PvZ. Then Mini, Bisu and Rain showed that Protoss can dominate from early to late game (well, not too late maybe, because defilers ^^) Best even used Arbiters in recent pro matches with success. The meta never stops evolving, it's incredible!
Rain is truly a talented genius and his multi-tasking is just unreal. God-tier finals, just praying to Flash for no 4-0s or 4-1s, which is probably less likely now that Flash isn't in it lol.
The counter shown off in previous ZvPs in this tournament was Mutalisks. If you fly a Mutaball into the Toss army shortly before a big fight, you can snipe the Templar before they can cast. Dragoons won't kill the Mutas fast enough to stop this. But Rain had air-dominance with Corsairs so often that Soma didn't get a lot of chances to do that here. In theory, Ultralisk are also pretty good against Templar, but they're just not cost effective against the rest of the army.
@@Kerostasis It surprised me that Soma did not build any early spire at all, especially when he was up against such quick Nexuses. Too bad, was hoping for a zerg in the final... maybe when Larva comes back!
Rain is back on form, mans. I haven’t seen him so good since the asl where he faced flash in the finals - yes, God Flash steamrolled him, but before that Rain literally wiped the floor with everyone
I just love waking every morning to these videos or gsl while teleworking and sipping coffee, greatly appreciated
You should slip in a couple telemarketing calls for Patreon/Aslenglish 🤣
Same!
ASL has been so awesome this season, i wish it'd never end :)
Thanks for translating all the extra fun stuff like the interviews and the bucket-list segments!

Absolutely
Game two was one of the greatest performances I’ve ever seen in the matchup. Unbelievable

Game 2 is such a masterclass from Rain.
I just want to take a minute to say that it feels like every Korean commercial is permanently stuck in the 90s. It's kind of amazing
10 years ago it was like a weird 80s.

Holy shit, Rains play is just GODLIKE today!!
Game 3 was amazing.
Rain's micro in those early mid-game skirmishes was perfect
THOSE ARE SOME OF THE BEST PSI-STORMS I HAVE EVER SEEN.
Meh. To me its more impressive when players dodge the psi-storms. Now that's real skill
@@dirkauditore8413 Agreed, those guys are the real gamers. Unfortunately the only way to dodge those storms on your mineral line is to not play against Rain in the first place.
@@johntgallant Lmao fax. Here's hoping Light can crush Rain.
Maybe the best match I've ever seen. Mistakes, for sure, but the overall quality was so consistently good from both.
What a series man, game 3 had me holding my breath! Great season so far!
Just look at Soma's face at 1:36:16... Even though he won, by his expression you can tell he actually escaped with his life by a thread.
Exactly what I was thinking.

You can just kill your own units then.
@seraph8104 yes, but units cost resources
Usually Iam rooting for terrans but Rain is such a great player so the finals for me is win win situation.
Same
Light is gonna roll through Rain no problem but it’s also going to be very close and a tough battle.
I know that this is gonna be an awesome series from the title
This was the best series of the season hands down.
Butter map was really melting at the end! This was insanely good.

JAHAHAH! That interwiev at the start was damn hillarious! Love it! :D :D :D

this is how it looks like when an OG pro tries hard vs a new era pro
Wow a couple of games were some of the best PvZ that I've seen, ASL is delivering hard this year, BW so much better than SC2
Rain vs Light Finals gonna be EPIC!!
Best series of this season so far!
Man, what an epic match! The winner is a total beast!
Such freakin amazing play, man this is proper StarCraft esports :)
1:09:34 The bm drone dancing :D. I love it
Great cast again. Thanks guys
*Can we take a moment to appreciate* how at 01:29:52 Tasteless actually says "gamer-in-chief"? That phrase is a thing of beauty.
(And a small shoutout to Artosis for channeling his inner Santa at 01:29:44)

Hope to see casters in tuxedos for the final !

That was an amazing series. Also sets up for amazing finals and 3rd/4th place match
love me some tastosis, but i think i can count the number of times tasteless successfully predicted a build in the entire asl on one hand
Butter is a wild map, another good game on that map
That set on Butter was crazy! Awesome series!
That was some masterful starcraft played by rain. Well done
the GOAT'd sunken was one of the best things I've heard watching starcraft
19:05 Rain's intro music
20:22 Soma's intro music
Great games, thanks for casting guys.

Rain showed master class in PvZ. Damn.
Goddamn, Rain really is like Flash where it seems they just understand the game differently.

19:07 Two Steps from Hell - Strength of a Thousand Men ! aha love it
Super pumped for this vod

It's funny how differently you guys cast SC1 because you play competitively, lol. Great cast, as always.
Man, whoever did the audio for this episode should double check their work. Had to skip the early interview since the audio is so delayed
What an amazing series!
My brain exploded from a psystorm.
i dont like patreon but does ASL have a website where can make donations?
These two are so well matched. We've been eating great lately.
Hi guys. Why is Caster Park muted on the VODs? Is it something about copyright?
SPOILER!!!!!
my protoss heart is happy with this match!!! I was not expecting a protoss win, but Rain push through!!!!!!
There's a strange audio offset during the soma/rain Caster Park interview a few minutes into the vod

just now starting the match. and I couldnt help but think.... could the Finals call for .....Light....Rain?? :D
Gratz Rain! Awesome games! Best s13 PvZ
Game 3 is wild!Rain is sooo good!
That Butter game was complete madness
Sorry but i have too loool.. i would think Artosis`s Text to Speech donations will get you farther then any patreon lol ;D
Poor Soma. He is going to be PTSD with PvZ since he is going up against Bisu next. Arguably the best two PvZ players back to back.
