Freddy vs Jason would have been perfect for the 90s. It just feels like a film that would work for that decade. As much as I like the vibe and charm of 2000s horror films, I don’t think it necessarily works for Freddy vs Jason considering how those films are entrenched in the 80s and 90s style of filmmaking
The first Friday The 13th movie was also directed by a porn director and so was the first A Nightmare On Elm Street movie. Also, A New Beginning is 35 years old this year.

My list is bonkers. But allow me to explain. I was born in ‘83. I became a horror fan in 91 at age 8. That one magic summer vacation! I love Jason Goes to Hell because well I actually enjoy it but also it’s super nostalgic for me because it’s the first Jason movie released in my fandom. Also Jason X was my first movie seeing Jason in the theater. I was really disappointed and have always hated it. Part 4 is my top tier fave, Jason X is a guilty pleasure watch, I think ANOES should've released a standalone movie the same year or a year before Jason X to hold us over until Freddy v. Jason, the remake was abysmal.

good job - I have a different ranking for sure - Heres mine from best to worst for what I enjoy: 2009 (my most fav slasher all time) 4 (great movie) 2 (great movie) 3 (3 and 1 interchangeable at times - I find both very enjoyable and will re-watch at anytime, in fact I just re-watched 3 last weekend) 1 5 (5 and 7 interchangeable at times - I find both very enjoyable and will re-watch at anytime) 7 JGTH (JGTH, X and FVJ interchangeable at times, enjoyable but won't go out of my way to watch) X FVJ 6 (only like the Sherriff and his daughter, I only like the RV scene - hate everything else about it) 8 (the premise is cool but the entire movie is one steaming hot pile of toxic waste dog shite, the boxing head punch only decent thing and my least fav ending)
I mean A Nightmare on Elm Street was directed by a porn director. Danny Steinmann hadn’t even directed porn for half a decade by the time he directed a new beginning. Why do people keep bringing it up like other horror directors didn’t start with porn
