Got in a 220i the other day and was amazed to see a modern BMW with proper support for your knee (against centre console) when you are using the foot rest. There was an actual padded bit of trim down there, was pleasantly surprised.

the car seems fantastic. In terms of looks, the front and side profile look great. But for whatever reason, I can't get over the rear of the car. It just looks bad IMO.
I had a Polo GTI AW, sold it because I did too many miles, ended up in a boring A4, but now U found used M235i are well within my pricerange. Im seriously inclined to ditch it and get one of these
I don't like the rear and the front fascia is okay, but I do like this car. I wish they sold the m135i hatchback in the states though, because I'd prefer that. Also, they could have done a better job on their cars dashboards. So far, only the 5, 6, and 7 have good looking dashboards in my opinion.
Yeah unfortunately the m135i never came to the states, same with the A45 AMG, S3 hatchback, Scirocco R, and so on. But we have the m235i (and think saabkyle04 in the states is planning on reviewing it judging by the picture he posted on FB).
I agree the M3 is a legend this car has to be proven. I have a 79 Camaro and a M car. Recently upgraded the Camaro to a LSD and it makes a world of difference! This car needs the LSD option..
I enjoyed watching that, but the left hand and wrist movements of the presenter while driving the car were a little... distracting and not communicating anything in particular. Just some honest feedback from a viewer.
This car is purely a 1 series line replacement. Let's not get carried away by either calling it an M car or any kind of a near equivalent to the E36 M3. Let's call this a miss for BMW M enthusiasts - and let's be frank and say it has the same shape/lines as the 3rd generation Ford Escort coupe and that's not a good thing at all.
This car will destroy an E36 M3, especially the one that was sold in the US. Let's be frank the E36 M3 was a great car when it was in production, but that was 15 years ago. Now it's just an old turd. Stop living in the past and face reality. The M235i is so much better, in every way. If you can rationalize in your head that this car looks anything like an escort, your opinion isn't worth the time it took to read it.

I had a 1 series M and it really wasn't that great. It was fun to drive, don't get me wrong. The m3 components, fender flairs, and limited production made it special. I found it kind of funny looking and since it was based on the 1 series that was at the end of it production cycle it was a little outdated. Overall the M235i is a better car, I have one those now. It will never be as special as the 1 series M, but that doesn't really matter to me.
The only annoying thing about this car is the stupid skinny tyres BMW decided to spec for this car, probably so it doesn't step on the M2's toes. With 320ish BHP, the rears should be at _least_ 255mm, not 245.

Any car looks boy racer flashy if you get in bright colors. Those bright red M235is are "Melbourne Red Metallic" and the bright blue WRX's are "Galaxy Blue Pearl". What kind of maturity do you expect in colors like that...? Just get them in more "mature" colors, and they look much more refined. Then again, what would be the fun in that? ;)

But i think they are fucking up the M brand with all M sport options for the regular cars and this half breed. What's even worse is that they planned to make a proper M2.. I would be mad as a motherfucker if i go out and buy a M car just for it to get recongized as a "lesser" model.. But hey maybe im just too much of fanboy? Anyways just my 2cents..
