San Marcos is great.

San Marcos resident since 2000. San Marcos is a very well run city and an excellent choice for raising a family. IMHO you get the most "bang for your buck" in San Marcos compared to other nearby options. About the only thing we're missing is any sort of nightlife and a downtown - that's coming, however, with North City and the creek district renovations (including the new Restaurant Row redevelopment). Excellent schools, local breweries (we're on the "Hop Highway"), and all the conveniences you need nearby.
