This episode best captures the awesome range of tones of the GCP. Some truly dramatic stories and roleplay combined with some of the funniest jokes and banter ever. This is probably the episode I'd use to introduce someone to the show/network
15 Minutes in when Troy is talking about "Mispronouncing a word" it's a DM's nightmare because your players never ever forget it, I once said "Dumbledores" instead of "Double doors", and "Brassiere" instead of "Brazier" and my table has NEVER let me forget either of them, and either time either comes up in a dungeon I'll get crap for it.
I've never seen a purer expression of friendship than Kate leaping on that hand grenade for Sydney... after herself looking at her like she had lost her mind.
I listened to this on my podcast app but had to switch over to RUclips to see what Sydney was wearing after Skid'w David Byrne comment, and I absolutely lost it.
I enjoy GCN content as podcast at 1.5 speed, I know, I'm a sociopath. So I was a bit dismayed that the bant started by ragging in Syd's outfit and was like "maybe I'll check out the video later to get the joke." But then came the Luke Skywalker poster and "the Hayden Christensen one?" and I IMMEDIATELY stopped listen and was like "nope, going to need to watch this." And so like the Bill Hader gif of the guy with the popcorn I watched this whole banter and it was the absolute correct choice. Keep it up yall!
The last 5 minutes of the bant was just sooooo painful. I agree with Matthew, it IS like watching somebody drown. "Hayden Christensen? Ewan McGregor? He didn't play Obi-Wan?" That's her, officer! That's the one!
I was waiting for someone to give up the memory of being at a tavern and when the innkeeper says "alright, You lot enjoy your drinks now" and you say "You too"

To answer Matthew's "D&D history" question, I feel like the Aiudara are closest thematically to a setting that TSR published in the mid 90s called "Planescape". It was a very unique setting where the city of Sigil existed as a city that portals could lead to from all other planes / planets / etc. It was blessed with gorgeous artwork done by the ever talented Tony DiTerlizzi that gave a very iconic take on D&D monsters + setting. Core themes of Planescape involved belief, as it related to the Great Wheel (TSR's cosmology of the time).
Wow this is turning out to be a banger of a show... I think the new format took some time to get used to (both for audience and players) but it looks professional and sounds natural like the good old giant slayer days... This is peak GCP stuff🎉🎉
Man I gotta say this was a great episode. Troy nailed that voice again and it drew me right into the story. All of the memory moments were great. Skid gave us a great and very discomforting tale and fantastic inner monologue. Kate showed a wonderfully sad side of Zephyr. I loved the conflict that Joe added for Ramius. Top Notch Gang!

Episode 2 or three when Troy was like, "does anyone have First World Lore?!..." For the third time and y'all are confused what the AP is about. So FRUSTRATING 😂😂lol. But this is a really great story, really gets your imagination going. Excited to keep watching. Making a prediction as someone who has never done this AP before: I think the "Whale" is going to end up being either an ancient black dragon, or a Great Old one.
I was disappointed that Tom was out being cleaned because I was looking forward to Tom Exposition making a comeback. The Memory Grove would be the perfect place for him.
Fantastic episode. I always love a good flashback, even if they're lost memories now. When it comes to Ossoyo, a great Gojira song comes to mind: Now I can see the whales Looming out of the dark Like arrows in the sky I can't believe my eyes But it's true
I was waiting for someone to say, "For my memory gift, I want to forget everything I know about bears." Or even "I sacrifice everything I know about basic hygiene." It didn't go nearly as wackily as it could have.
[on a banter topic] I remember thinking that I would sell my Star Wars action figures at 50 years old and they would be worth a fortune ! Not worth much (not mint). I ended-up pretty much giving them away to a friend who collects them.
I worked for several comic book shops, buying and selling collectibles. I didn't care for the speculators who were only in it for the money. I preferred the real fans who loved the toys.
The more I watch the GCN, the more convinced I am that Skid is the single greatest Role Player in the history of RPGs. Either that or there were ninjas, hiding in my car, cutting onions and making me cry. But my money is on Skid.
A choice memory to give up would be the memory of lucky or Taleetha. You could spin it as being too heartbroken to go on without her. I bet Mathew and Sidney would enjoy the borderline insult in pursuit of story.
Slight spoiler, but mostly unrelated . . . . . Out of curiosity: what are memories your characters (from ttrpgs or otherwise) would want to give up? My Fidele would probably choose to forget the moment she returned to her village to see it all destroyed, everyone she knew and loved gone. She knew what she’d find, but still couldn’t help herself from going back. It haunts her.

Show is exceptional, as always, but I want to drop a comment on liking the subtle FoundryVTT plugs. It’s not obnoxious, just a subtle pop up right when you cut to the map and then immediately start moving tokens with animated lighting - highlighting features inherently. I despise most advertising despite understanding the need for it. Unskippable ads that have nothing to do with the content you’re consuming that break the flow of what you’re doing are terrible. I think this is well done. Kudos to whoever came up with the concept.
