Dal/lentil based curries are very common in Indian food. We make different styles of dal in different places due to the difference in culture and cooking habits. There's dal with leafy vegetables, there's dal with vegetables like mango, cucumbers, tomatoes, brinjals, pumpkin, bottle gourd, ridge gourd etc in the south of India. In the north of India, the dal is a masala based curry most of the time except for a few recipes like Varan bhaat which are very traditional and close the native cooking. So this video is about Masoor Dal curry wherein the lentils are soaked and cooked in a masala gravy. This can be enjoyed with rotis or even plain rice because what beats the famous combination of Dal and Chawal? I guess nothing, and this is a must try recipe if you are someone who loves dalchawal food. Give it a try and let me know in the comments how it turned out for you guys.

Hema ji, Do we need to soak overnight masoor dal that has chilka pls suggest
In Sri Lanka we don't use salt when cooking dhal. Salt is added after the dhal is cooked otherwise you have to boil for hours. The dhal gets cooked quickly if no salt is added initially.
Ok👍
Nice madam

no need to pressure cook neither need to soak for an hour nor necessary to cook for 30 minutes because masoor dal don't take time to cook.. so be careful 😅
