They could very well be outdated. When you looked at the tables in the earlier episodes, you saw corn on the plates (which could be taken to assume that corn is the primary food in the town). The children's doll heads could well be pass-me-downs, the livestock bred from older stocks, and the farming tools crafted and/or maintained. The only problem are the lights and the loudspeaker: where did the town retrieve and know the operation of electrical functions and generators from?
