Greetings from the Emerald Isle! Excellent video mate. My daughters Focus mark2 has a bad power steering pump leak. Thanks to this video I can now do this for her
I just had to replace it on my 2001 Focus 5dr last week. The (certified) Ford dealership said it was a cracked PS Pump and hoses needed to be replaced. They wanted $2000. Luckily we said no, we'll do it ourselves. We got it back home opened the hood, turned it on and low and behold PS fluid was pouring out of the sensor switch. No cracked pump, no problem with the hoses, just a $64 part and 10 minutes of my time. It would have taken me only about 2 minutes but I didn't have a lift and had to wriggle under the car.
We're pretty upset because you had to be totally blind not to see the fluid spurting out of the pressure sensor. To top it off they charged us $182.02 for a wrong diagnosis! Makes me wonder how much they've been ripping us off over the pas 30 years. $2000 vs $65 is a HUGE deal. I have a call into the service manager for a refund. We'll see how far we get and their explanation of how they missed such an obvious thing.
This works for Volvo C30 2009 R-Design 1.6L Petrol. Crazy how I couldn't find a video exactly for Volvo, but it took me 5 minutes for Ford...
Thank you so much , you saved me a lot of money!!!
Great vid , quite easy after watching this, 👍🏻👍🏻
much appreciated 😌 need to change mine today
Gotta do this on my focus...a least this video gives me a bit of confidence .. it's so tucked away out of reach
Have a go , it's not too bad
Same, I've not got the 19mm deep to replace it with but I've got the other tools to at least check if it's that. My mate reckons it's my pump cos he couldn't see any leaks on the pipes but he text this morning saying he never checked this part, so fingers crossed
great video. how tight do you have to refit the replacement part in ? any idea on torque settings?
Brilliant video!
Excellent video
Why its still leaking when u drove off
Can these be plugged off on say an older classic car that don’t have the electronics for this type of switch?
AmaIng video
Very helpfull
Going to do this tomorrow
I did mine last year , I did it from under the car on jack's ..my alternator is at the front of the car so their was room to get in with a spanner
When it went the noise was like a squeeling idler pulley until I pulled the lid of the resivoir it was bone dry
Legend!
Have you got a weard sound of the pump and stearing was strong ?
No sound heard, just excessive leak and the steering wheel stiffen when fluid is depleted.
@@mbl-randomdiy6024 thx fore the video it helps a lot my car was these disdroiet i changet my self out
Saya memiliki masalah pada ford focus 2005 2.0 yaitu "power steering failure"...apakah sensor itu menjadi penyebabnya? Trims 👍
But the stearing wheal is jauling ? Ore not
Can this issue causing a whineing noise
I'm not sure, but this was causing a leak on power steering fluid.
Try changing the fluid first.
yes that happened to mine
Thanks, saved me a few ££ , changed mine and fixed the leak
If your power steering fluid is leaking, especially as much as this guy's car was, then you'll be running on empty quick. Low power steering fluid will cause a whining sound when turning the wheel. Levels are usually easy to check and the fluid is like $5 for a big bottle with leak stop additives. Just don't rely on the leak stop additives.
Yes, it sure can.
Do not over tighten 😮😮
