You're right. When things go wrong, and they will, sometimes the "pile" just seems insurmountable. And then just when you think you got it all under control, something else happens. Do you know what we call that? I don't know about everybody else but I call it "life". Please remember this: eventually you DO get it all back in control. You DO start to remember why you do what you do. And the fun comes back into your soul and you realize, it's all worth it. They say Thomas Edison failed over 1,000 times trying to invent the lightbulb. Eventually he succeeded and I'm sure glad he did. Succeed Aleesha. You're a winner and we all know it.

    • @showdownz
      @showdownz 2 года назад

I just watched a documentary about how the invention of the light bulb helped lead to quantum theory because the light from a bulb didn't change color the way they expected when given more power. And that quantum theory was critical in developing computer chips. So if Edison had given up, its possible we wouldn't have computers, or at least it could have taken years longer to begin down the paths that lead to them. Its funny how the positivity and effort you put into the world can have results you would never expect and may never even know.

I feel your pain. There has been times when these amazing drones do stupid things like smoke or just stop working or something acts up and you’re like “why the frog won’t you work???” It’s almost like 50/50 bench work vs actual flying.
When I just hate my drones, I go play Shadows of Mordor and reign terror on the orcs messing with the innocent lives of those of Middle Earth.
Also just walking is great, especially in Canada where we have some great nature. Bring a camera for a different kind of “zen”.

This hobby drives me mental so often too. Had very similar issues to what you were having except on my long-range rig. Drove 12.5 hours to go to northern BC to fly and the thing stopped working even though it was tested at home. I fixed it while out there and drove back to the spot 2 hours away and it didn't work again. I swear it happened 4 or 5 times before that trip too.
Luckily I got it flying and on the drive home from that trip I was able to get a couple of long-range packs in that made all the pain worth it. I learned that through the hardships it makes the good times even sweeter! I have benched FPV for a week or 2 at a time though to help me learn to love it again and there is no shame in that.
I'll hit you up next time I'm up in your neck of the woods for a casual day of perfect flying (0 crashes! 0 issues! I believe it!).

From the outside looking in, just wanted to say, it seems you're new to the hobby. You have to give yourself time to Breathe! I come from a electronic/computer engineering background and have a passion for troubleshooting.
You have to have PASSION for this FPV thing, if you don't, you won't last in it.
I recommend studying basic electronics, soldering, and logical troubleshooting to help. I have a quadcopter knowledge base on my channel, old videos and new . keep at it! never stop. any niche hobby like FPV requires patience and dedication. you will build and crash and repair and then crash again - until your experience reaches a level where it's all like breathing and you just keep getting better. but yes, there will be times when everything is against you. I've had bad luck with weather and broken components all summer (the Tallinn TV tower is officially my nemesis, LOL). it's part of the game. I think it's cool that you visibly give a shit about what you're doing, and aren't afraid of sharing that with your audience. it takes guts to make honest content like that, instead of only ever showing the good moments. we all have bad ones. respect!

In the past two weeks I killed 2 FCs, two motors, had my new AG01s nabbed by a porch pirate, had a DOA FC, and wasted half a sheet of CF trying to cut out a custom frame. Then I go to fly yesterday and I get out to the field to realize I forgot my battery bag. Go home, get my batteries, go back out to the field and no battery strap. Go home, get my battery straps and put them in my new bag, go out to the field, and for some reason the Crossfire receiver is unbound... At least the flights were good when I finally did get to fly.

    DON'T GIVE UP
I gave up playing guitar about 10 years ago, and these days it really bothers me often when I hear music. Like to the point where I tear up and have to choke it back. I have my guitar and stuff, but I'm 10 years behind where I should be and lost a lot of the skills I learned in the 15 years that I'd been playing. It doesn't bring the same joy I remember, and is incredibly frustrating at times.
If you give it up, you'll have a hard time forgiving yourself. It might be a conversation years down the road that brings it out and that's when it'll really bother you. These frustrations are going to be funny memories in a little while, but giving up will be a haunting memory eventually.
You got this, DON'T GIVE UP

Man, I've been there, I feel you so much. I taught I was the only one. I've had vtx issue, that cost be months, multiple burned brand new electronics, a lost a whole quad. But still going at it.

I always let people know that’s a big part of the hobby. Sometimes you’re fixing as much as flying especially the guys that push themselves hard. Keep your head up 👍🏼 I’ve been keeping mine up since 2018 and still no subs 🤣

Shorts. I've had 2 shorted ESCs shipped to me. But it's easy to test if it's an Esc or motor. You can always repair a 4in1 with an individual esc.

Even on the worst days love it's the Ripping that for a few moments we are truely free playing with gravity like little birds with jet engines. I could break all my quads lose them get them stolen and still pick myself back up to fly and share my passion with those around me.
I enjoy watching your journey struggles and smile just remember we can do what so many will never experience in a lifetime and that my friend is priceless. Hope this helps.
I got my CDL about a year ago and travel all over the country sometimes I get to Surf Ridges in the Mohave or Dive Canyons in the Desert other im lucky to get a decent rest area but every single day it's the only thing I look forward to besides watching the few people I subscribe to . . .
And one of them is YOU 🙂

get yourself a 30x jewelers loop and check your work after any soldering, tiny solder balls spit across the board with the heat and sometimes land in a spot bridging 2 legs on a chip for example, checking for solder balls with a loop will save you money in the long run, when you do a flip if one rolls to a spot then just like you have done poof you smoke it, also a nylon brush and some iso to clean up the flux is good practice.

    • @AleeshaFPV

i do clean the flux and such, often use compressed air to get rid off anything hanging around

:) I don't think anyone can quit fpv! It's not a hobby - it's the way of living. Flying for fun makes you a better commercial pilot. Each quad is unique - one attracts great shots, another attracts bad weather and crashes each flight. Make a pause, feel the inpiration. Get hungry for the fpv! :)

I think a straggler wire strand flew around and landed on it, I flew at home and it was fine. I looked at the board and it was super small smoke but enough to kill it

I feel your pain, I'm just getting into FPV from GPS drones, just brought the Iflight Nazgul Evoque F5D, setup my TX and got everything working apart from GPS rescue. I still have so much to learn on BetaFlight, finding it hard to navigate my way round BetaFlight. Got to get some stick time in Lift off sim then get out there and fly. Been flying GPS drones for a while now but FPV fast drones are completely different. Anyway hope you don't give up FPV definitely has its ups an downs lol 🤣🤣 Good luck, don't give up, it's ok to take a break as long as the passion for FPV is still there.
