I know why he was taken out of the game: His portrait has arms. Clearly op
Banshee too
@@thecuchikiller not only her arms
I guess he was armed and ready.
Dark templar has to.
Let's make some enemies!
''Got remove from SC2 by David Kim''
The funny thing is this is probably the rarest unit in the entire game for players. Not only is it not buildable in any of the campaigns, but you can only have a single hero version with one of the co-op commanders.
The only unit worse off is the Valkyrie I'm pretty sure. On account of not being in the game at all.
"Juggernaut standing by!....Oops, wrong game sorry."

@@nodmilitant1724 I live!
@User 905 might try that if i play anytime soon
RIP Warhound
the nostalgia of "Goliath online"
Warfield for Coop Commander with Warhounds, HERCs, and SC1 Valkyrie
Wouldn't really fit Warfield. HERCs are miners possibly Umojans while Warhounds are repurposed SCVs. If you'd put a KMC faction in the game they'd all fit, even the Valkyrie as they salvage a lot of tech. Not that it matters, SC2 is abandoned.
They didn't need another anti-armor unit! They needed an anti-air unit that wasn't as inexpensive as the Marine and not as costly and beefy as the Thor.
RainingMetal the goliath's were good anti airs... i was sad when i saw them not be included :(
Warhounds werent anti armor but anti mech, dunno if their ability was able to hit air units
Cyclone :0
@@elgato9o The issue is that Goliaths arent all that mobile, and without mobility, they overlap too much with the Thor. Vikings are the unit that were made to fill the role of the Goliath while solving the mobility issue. They weren't a 1:1 replacement, and neither were Thors, so the Cyclone was made to give another AA option to mech, but with each having very different niches for different styles (Cyclones are fast glass canons that pair well with Hellions while providing AA for them along with more "oomph" against beefier targets, Vikings are usually up in the air as the go-to anti-air unit but can land and are great for both anti-mech and worker harrassment, and Thors are a late game juggernaut unit)
Another reason Goliaths werent added for SC2 is because the design of mech Terran is one centered around more "specialist" type units, while bio is centered mostly around the "generalist" Marine. Another generalist, relatively all-purpose "backbone" unit with poor mobility would make mech playstyles less distinct from bio
That was the viking or cyclone now.
i love how the warhound is still shown on the box art for this game
To think that such an overpowered magnificent bastard of a unit came from an SCV....
this unit looks almost like ben stiller
Claire Nanosca he even has the same handlebars as the orderly in Happy Gilmore
The Warhound was too overpowered in the portrait, balance, aesthetic, and dance departments.
Why would you want to play anyone else other than Terran when you have a unit this freaking cool in the game.
I'm glad they kept it in the game files, editor, and campaign tho.
That guy looks decent
I love the idea that warhounds steer piloted by veterans who have seen too much war to care about the commanders little problems
He sounds like the voice of the old Vulture from Brood War
Non-stop vibrating
SiegTank, banshee, Medivac, battlecruiser, Thor, SCV, hellion/hellbat, Raven, Immortal, Stalker, Void Ray, Unmorphed Changelings, Hydraklisks, Queens are all OP! Everything is OP!!!
*HOLD IT!* If everything is overpowered, then nothing is overpowered!
If I'd reintroduce the Warhound, I'll make them copies of Red Alert 2's IFVs, where the unit's weapon changes depending on the passenger. (eg. SCV turns into a dedicated repair vehicle). I'll also add a passive that fits the theme of repurposed units, reducing the attack speed based on missing HP.
Big pants, ready to roll!
Nah the real reason was it overlapped with the marauder in utility, and they ended up having enough units to match the other races with the hellbat and widow mine.
they didn´t seem quite as OP when they were brought back as enemies in HotS, actually they seemed quite addable there.
Because they sucked against zerg. They did a million damage against mech and zero against bio.
every time toss or zerg see him they QQ
It was deemed overpowered because of how much damage it did
R.I.P warhound
I think the voice actor is the same one who does modern marvels.
Harlan Saperstein.
Make it a mech caster with a ground attack, a smoke wall, and a missile ability.
Can someone calmly tell me why people are upset that this guy didn't make the cut, without making remarks on how its not underbalanced or overbalanced it is?
That's the major part of why he got cut is because of the balance. To not talk about balance with StarCraft units is pretty hard, because the developers don't just add units in because it looks cool. But I guess another part of it is how situational he is. All of the units in the Terran's arsenal are useful against any opponent, since they don't have many specific unit-damage types, and the ones that they do are the ones that are often used. Warhound is specifically for anti-mechanical fighting, and that makes him completely useless and not worth building if you're fighting Zerg, and to a lesser extent, the Protoss. Literally, Warhound would be built in a Terran mirror match and against the Protoss for a while until they got stronger units up.
Grabbypaws Dralek Ah, ok. Thanks mate :)
@@Pikachu790 They werent useless against Zerg though, at least not when you got enough of them. While they were bad against Zerg in small numbers, if you got a critical mass of Warhounds, they could even defeat any equal supply zerg ground comp due to their good range, good survivability, and smaller size than the Thor (meaning they could clump well). Range and health are values that can be adjusted, but with said nerfs, a ground-to-ground unit meant to be a beefier frontline tank and with a bonus damage to mech basically made them overlap too much with Marauders.
They could have scrapped the anti-mech ability to give them an anti-air attack, but that would just make them another Goliath or a more cost-effective Thor (which in and of itself could be OP). Rather than retool the unit into something overly similar to an existing unit, they decided to just keep the existing unit in and tweak it a bit to make it more worth the high cost. Especially since having an early or mid-game "generalist" unit is something that seems to go against what the SC2 design philosophy for Terran mech, which is either very specialized units, or super high-cost moving fortresses (in contrast to bio, which is built around a cheap generalist unit)
Say it loud and proud, son!
nice moustache
WARHOUNDS! WARHOUNDS EVERYWHERE!
because it was the counter to every ground unit. all you have to press is 1 and A.
I wish they still would have made the muiltplayer
It's the modern marvels narrator!
Or Calo Nord if you've played KOTOR... Yeah, seriously he's also Calo Nord.
oh, your favourite unit got removed
Which btw is like 30 damage a shot or if massed up it 1 hits a beefy unit still counterable by air units unless the person brought vikings + and cruisers
It could shoot air units.
No it couldn't
They took this mech out goddamit.
I think this guys narrates some of the modern marvels episodes.
깡통 로봇 준비 완료!
투견 가동!
Ya know, I think the VA for this one is Lloyd Sherr... Or at least it SOUNDS like him putting on an accent.
So does the thor (which at one point also overlapped the siege tank, the banshee, the firebat, half a dozen marines and any other terran ground unit) but it never got removed for that..
i actually won an TvP when using them :D now its back to 28% :((
Got removed from multiplayer.
These guys are anti-mechanical haywire missiles deal a lot vs mechanical units Thors siegetanks stalkers and immortals and etc.
Stalin in a mech

*insert gundam reference here*
Ezra Loomis second job...

i created 50 primal kerrigans vs 200 warhounds to see who would win, and when i told the warhounds to attack the first kerrigan it said "There's about to be one less of you!" And i laughed at the LOLs :D
Never see these things
Damned things were monsters. I'd like to see them in the game as well, but serious nerfs would be needed. I have no idea what the devs where thinking when they released such an OP unit.
Play co op on brutal +
ah ok
btw i too like viktor xD
I miss this dude... I actually like him better than Hellbat, who is just a tanky Firebat.
可惜,被砍了。
"Skitty on the way!"
Who are you?
Didn't like them too. They were quite imba in beta. They had the same purpose as marauders since they were created. Blizz could tweak it's damage a bit, make it... All-purpose-support mech and not vs. armored one maybe?
Now the only way to play this is to neural parasite one...
Solution, nerf it a bit
I agree... looked like a skinny supermodel version of the thor.
why is he not in game ?
his head is strangely huge..
+Andrea Davis Come on never heard a girl saying ever the head is too big, there must be some missconception here.
In Nexus wars is not op
He s not op but he was taking the role of marauder! And also underpowered!
Commander Jupiter op not underp
how can you have this unit? i only see it in campaign.
never tried it.
I hated this whacky cartoony 1A unit. Thank god they were removed.
