I'll ask again, where did you get this 30% statistic? EVERYONE captured is related to gangs as members or accomplices.

Why is this of any concern to anyone who isn't from there? They show no mercy to people who don't deserve it and it's working, stop trying to make them look like the bad guys.
But at what cost? An affordable cost it seems. The gangs were trying to take over the country, and killing anyone who opposed them, or was in the crossfire. What else could El Salvador do? They did something, and it seems to have gotten the majority of gang members into prison. The critics likely would have no idea what to do in such a situation. El Salvador did!
Most of these criminals and gangs have now entered the US and this why one reason it’s fallen sharply back in El Salvador. There was a program about this some time ago.
Is that really your argument? The gangs were created in the United States and in the 90s the US government sought an easy solution: mass deportation to their countries of origin, for this reason the deportees came to the streets. Without having convictions

In order for a country to prosper, you need very strict laws against drugs, gangs, corruption, very low crime rates, low taxes on foreign investors or foreign business owners, a skilled workforce (a better education system) starting from elementary school and a great infrastructure. Gangs are 100% enemy of society including gang culture. If you have a gang culture mentality is because your own country has failed on you due to government corruption. When your own government wants to get rid of gangs including gang culture is because they care about their own country and its people in order to start to prosper now and start making steps to get better as a society and the future.
If it's suspected that you have any ties with the gangs whatsoever did you need to be gone. That is sad how these thugs took over the country making it worse for themselves and everybody else

Nearly 20% were less than 10 years old. Bukele is probably the most impressive world leader there is in the last few years for ousting these guys and turning El Salvador around.
Sadly both the warring political parties during the war in the 80s participated in child soldiers. Both ARENA & FMLN are equally as bad.
They claim that they are violating human rights, but the gangs were committing a lot more violations. I don't believe the report that says only 30% of the prisoners are gang-related. See the tattoos on the face? That is not a humble fishmonger.
absolutely ! gangs had a lot of reach in all sectors of society
For the most part... I think this has been a BEAUTIFUL plan!! (Gang members that decapitate people's children???) Send them to prison... and sentence them to hard labor!!
Extreme pervasive problems require extreme measures to solve. It is the only way. Jamaica, Haiti, and Honduras all need this. These type of criminal just don't kill, they torture, torment, and then kill
30% of gang affiliation doesn’t mean that 70% were innocent people
You can't make an omelette without breaking eggs. Harsh, but true! Obviously, in a perfect world, innocent people would not be imprisoned, but how many of those whose relations claim they're innocent are TOTALLY innocent? The authorities are doing a good job & saving lives.
If some of them are innocent then it is their fault to have MS13 / gang tattoos on their faces and bodies. It is a dead giveaway. Gang markings are now a liability in El Salvador. Excellent work Bukele.
Remember guys, even if you're a murderer your family will always back you up
as a latino, this animals (gangs) dont have human rights. they are animals and they should be treated like that.
“Murders are dow but at what cost?” Is that seriously a question??? Who cares as long as murder is down!
Gangsters are no longer children
If only american leaders took crime nearly as seriously
At what cost? A safer country where you can walk down the street and not have to worry about rather that’s your last walk 😂. And it says 6500 murders, but there are far more who gone “missing”.
It sucks that innocents are being arrested but if this is the price it is more than worth it. This needs to happen all over the world, it needs to be cleansed of the violent and criminal people ruining it for everyone else.
The innocent are a very small percentage, that 30% is hyperbole number by those human rights organization that are a branch from the opposition political party that sported the gangs and had trades made with them making money out of the blood of the Salvadorian people, anything coming out of cristosal is a lie.
I would hate to be arrested for crimes that I didn't commit. I guess it's a price worth to pay as long as you are not the innocent one that has his liberty taken away. Law should always be fair. Innocent people don't belong in jail.
@@joeljeronimo5967 I wouldn't assume that someone is innocent just because they're not decked out in MS-13 tattoos
He is the greatest president El Salvador ever had.
UK could learn a thing or two from this. The rule of law works if enforced.
What things? Are there cold blooded murders, gangs or cartels every single day? Do you see people carrying guns on the streets and robbing shops or people before shooting them?
I don’t think so!
Did you watch this video? This is not a matter of enforcing the law, El Salvador is a police state.
@@jeromemanoharan7427 There are grooming gangs that have infested the UK passing young girls around and branding their flesh with their initials like farm animals. The police new about these gangs and did absolutely nothing.
@@ricardocantoral7672better police state that is low-key oppressive than chaos of anarchy within the bunch of gangs
Rather have 1 gang (police state ) than several for obvious reasons
@@ricardocantoral7672 Did you not see that murders are down 92 percent. Why do you conveniently ignore this valid fact. Most of the murderers are now locked up
Children and women can still be jailed. 30% linked to gangs, the rest can not be linked to gangs but still commit a jailable crime. And now they've had zero murders for 2023. I'd say they did a good job. Now Honduras is following this policy. This report is so one sided. It should be balanced by interviewing the people who aren't locked up to see if they feel safer now
Where did you get those statistics from? You're only inventing things out of thin air. I can give you the real information from the Police and Military reports, they worked 3 years gathering information about gang membership and crimes committed to favor gang interests, after 3 years they started to capture the targeted gang members. I'll ask again, where did you get this 30% statistic? EVERYONE captured is related to gangs as members or accomplices.
Did it relly had 0 murders?
Gang related? Possible. But no doubt murders of passion like typical murders maybe occur. Im not sure though. I do know gang related crime is very very very low now. @crragg1022
The UK and US could learn from them.
The UK police are too busy arresting people for telling jokes.
Those gang members executed my 75years old father, and too many others and the human rights never said anything. God bless President Bukele. Those people did horrible things to working people.
Why is this of any concern to anyone who isn't from there? They show no mercy to people who don't deserve it and it's working, stop trying to make them look like the bad guys.
At what cost did it come to this? Obviously the media reporting this never suffered from the violence, they should have been the target!
wtf
But at what cost? An affordable cost it seems. The gangs were trying to take over the country, and killing anyone who opposed them, or was in the crossfire. What else could El Salvador do? They did something, and it seems to have gotten the majority of gang members into prison. The critics likely would have no idea what to do in such a situation. El Salvador did!
If it works, do it. Sometimes to clear out dirt, you have to get dirty.
well done El Salvador, kudos
Notice how they all have gang tattoos… it’s pretty obvious they aren’t wrongly convicted
Most of these criminals and gangs have now entered the US and this why one reason it’s fallen sharply back in El Salvador. There was a program about this some time ago.
Except that’s not true and MAGA News.
Is that really your argument?
The gangs were created in the United States and in the 90s the US government sought an easy solution: mass deportation to their countries of origin, for this reason the deportees came to the streets. Without having convictions
Such desinformación to discredit real justice after the murder of 120,000 Salvadorans.
Disputable, true many gangsters left fled el salvador, some went to honduras, colombia, and mexico.
MS13 is actually a LA gang in origin and exploded when we deported many to El Salvador, many were not even from there.
Good reply "which country is locking up every guilty person" plenty of innocent people have been locked up around the world. Its a sad reality.
I pick safety over liberty am From Norway if I dont feel safe you dont feel liberty you need to feel safe to feel free
This is War. War is messy, and unfortunately, collateral damage is inevitable.
For any leader who takes action, you have a liberal arts reporter who’s never felt what it is to go through what the people went through during the gang reign.
I wish the countries I’ve lived in had a guy like this in power.
The murder rate
Says it all..
Salute to El Salvador President and his Fighting Force. This is the best solution as we can see from the effects of it. Crime rate went down drastically. 👍👏🇵🇭
Kinda ironic how countries ask questions they should be asking themselves.
I support the government cracking down the gangs they have destroyed the country
😢😢😢..... western democracy and humman right in Gaza😢😢😢
I donate every month to a little girl and her family over there, I'm happy knowing that she's safer.
Children and women so it OK to imprison Men without a fair trial?
As a Salvadoran, i had to flee my country- now i'm thinking of coming back, a feeling i never had. It's not 30% of gangs in jail, it's more like 90% - CECOT holds 70K confirm gang members. El Salvador is not turning back- That is the cost of freedom- I support Bukele for all the terms he wants to run as president
at what cost? it gave the people of El Salvador peace of mind and freedom to go outside without worrying that someone might kill them. i think the trade is fair for the situation that El Salvador was
Hopefully the budget to keep running those megaprisons isn't eating up the expenses in education, healthcare, and the pensions of the elderly. I wish El Salvador success on stopping gangs but also to modernize and educate children at risk to become professionals at their communities and generate wealth for their families and for generations to come.
The families pay $170 each month to cover the basic needs of their criminal family members, we are not spending a cent on them.
They only eat twice a day, two tortillas and beans and the family of the criminal has to pay for
You will surprise how much a safe and prosper society can afford for it's own protection.
The gang and crime problem was eating up 15% of the country's GDP. That is statistically 7x what most western nations spend on their military.
you know bullets are cheap
congrats on making progress el salvador
In order for a country to prosper, you need very strict laws against drugs, gangs, corruption, very low crime rates, low taxes on foreign investors or foreign business owners, a skilled workforce (a better education system) starting from elementary school and a great infrastructure. Gangs are 100% enemy of society including gang culture. If you have a gang culture mentality is because your own country has failed on you due to government corruption. When your own government wants to get rid of gangs including gang culture is because they care about their own country and its people in order to start to prosper now and start making steps to get better as a society and the future.
If you're a young Salvadoran male, you better quickly learn to be a nerd. 😁
Good those gang members belong in prison. Don't ever let them out.
Put these animals in jail.
If you commit a crime, you have to paid the time!
If it's suspected that you have any ties with the gangs whatsoever did you need to be gone. That is sad how these thugs took over the country making it worse for themselves and everybody else
Whoa,even erasing gang gravesites,that’s thorough!
I love this
Every country should do the same thing... Crime loving countries that criticize El Salvador, should take those criminals to their country...
You cant go anywhere with this in the long run, as long as latin Americas culture is a former pirate culture...You can achieve stuff with education and protecting and boosting the economy. Unfortunatelly, in South America very few know this concept...aka Russia ever. Good luck!
This will save tens of thousands of lives, and many many more from suffering.
feel so bad for the shopkeeper there especially if he's innocent
Good job El Salvador!
No offense, but if they've locked up 75,000 people but only had 153 deaths, that's a much lower percentage than the number of people who die in police custody in America.
Yeah they look innocent to me. 😂😂😂😂😂
Gee, arbitrarily human rights? What about the human rights of the thousands of murdered and raped and tortured civilians by the gangs???
President bukele is the best in the world
Numbers don't lie, they are saving lives, F the united nations
I can kinda understand tracking children on the list of stats, but why are women such a shock? Theyre adults too, why do men gotta be the key target?
Women are targeted too, but men are the ones who murder while women most of the time were forced to be married to them, of course some were ok with joining, the last are called "Jainas", they participated in criminal activity too but, they are fewer, even gangs are against women participating in "men's jobs". Those Jainas are sent to the Women's Prison in San Salvador and they are also reported but, as there are not that many, journalists can't have those shocking images of hundreds of them getting into prison so, they just ignore them.
@@Valentina.Montano fair enough.
Set your information wright not just listen or get a note from someone that hasn't been there! The gangs use to rip apart body's and display it in the main parks of rural towns!
Well all that were shown as criminals had big ass tattoos all over their bodies representing their affiliation with a certain gang, if some of them are innocent as the mom's were saying about their boys why would they tattoo their body like this?
God bless the police, God bless el salvador president❤
We LOVE El SALVADOR
Never would’ve thought I would consider moving to El Salvador to get out of the US
This is a example off a good leader bravo 🎉🎉
this is great, look at Colombia now compared tpo it in the 80s ealry 90s, you can actually go there and enjoy it, its safe and a happy place wishing this to el salvador too
Good job, El Salvador! 👍🏻👍🏻♥️ No quarter!
You just have to live there to judge. Every one in the El Salvador have have been touth by the criminals. Good work Mrs president. I wish he be here as president of my country. Thank bukele for saving one life❤
US foreign policy calls it collateral damage and there’s no human rights problem.
In India,CM of UP ,Mr Yogi Adityanath followed the same procedure on crackdown of mafia and gangster.
The prisoners are treated like enemy combatants because they are enemy combatants. They're effectively part of a paramilitary force within the nation.
Those who didn't like...please send the gang to them
What El Salvador does about its crime is upto its Government. Its not up to foreign institutions .
A truly great leader that can make the hard decisions
A rival store owner probably got that store owner arrested and in a cage with zero proof of any crime and no trial.
Very inspiring !! Love it !! Bring that to France and the UK !!
