That is a Oil Bath air cleaner, with the wire mesh missing. The missing cap is the Trans. oil fill. Those earlier Cat Diesels have a Oil Pressure block in the governor and will not let the throttle rack move until pressure builds. Crank engine with compression off until oil press. builds then see if it moves.
Thank you and Will for your service! Good luck with that dozer. I do want to see more about that old ford! I’m originally from the hill country myself. I’m glad you are now out and able to be back in Texas!
Thanks for your support! And thanks for wishing us good luck - we're going to need it! Which old Ford? Brownie? If so, more content is coming, hopefully soon! Also have '69 Bronco barn find content coming up, too! Thanks again! Scott
Yes sir, brownie. It’s a sharp old truck! Those old dozers can be cantankerous. Good! I am glad you’ll be doing more videos on Brownie and I look forward to the bronco as well. I wanted to make sure you hadn’t gotten away from those videos. I had seen you had changed gears a bit and I hoped you hadn’t given up on those old truck videos.
@@DavidCulbertson-s5h - Brownie is a beauty, isn't she? I certainly haven't given up on the old girl. I just need to spend some time getting her roadworthy. Thanks, Scott
Looking good Scott. I'm not a heavy equipment mechanic either. I learn as i go. So I'll be watching and learning as you continue on this one. I'm looking for a skid steer project to buy and fix up. I need it for my garage driveway project then sell when I'm done. You have to have a reason beyond views for buying one of these... it can't be HOA friendly. 😂
Fun watching you prepare to get it running....and I think it will fire up without too much trouble.......however....getting it running is quite different from trying to use it. I'm afraid if you try to actually use it, it will become a giant money pit.
Yep, it would need a little bit of everything to make it capable of pushing dirt again. But the old tractor deserves to be saved, so we'll see what happens... Thanks, Scott
Damn good question, Randy! Probably spend hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars restoring it and then sell it at a huge loss. That's how things seem to work for me these days.
No, I'm not. Pulled it to get a part number to replace it but it looks like it's in perfect condition so I will reinstall it. Thanks for your comment, Scott

Hi Thomas - Thanks for the details; that's exactly the information that we're hoping for! Scott

I'm bringing my tools over. I love the bulldozer build.
Johnny B - Come on over! We'd love to have another Army dude to wrench with! Scott
Good sound on the vid. Things are coming along.
Hey Michael - good to hear from you and thanks for checking in. Scott
Nice work.
Thanks!

Hey Karl - Good to hear from you. I've been looking for a skid steer for a while, too, but they're either junk or too expensive. Thanks, Scott
Wow!! Great watch!
Thanks, Olivia! Kyle needs one of these!!!
My first cat was an old 9Useries D6 them old boogers are hard to kill! I’m betting you get it percolating without a too much trouble! 👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🙏🙏🙏
That's what my great Uncle used to run - he had a pair of them starting back in the late 1950's - he was still working them into his 90's!
That takes me back to Hanks dozer, he ran that thing till the engine physically broke in half, which btw was an Intercal, part of the frame.
Hey Rob - Good to hear from you. Hank told me stories about the dozer, but didn't realize he split the engine in half! Hope all is well, Scott

I might be able to find a filter number after I get off vacation. Won't be back to work till after 1st of the year. Hopefully I can remember.
That would be great! Thanks! Scott
Awesome! What are plans if you buy it?

Is the air filter an oil bath filter?
I think it's just a regular dry air filter. Thanks
I have a 1957 Delta 8 fox trot 14 alpha Charly bravo blade direct drive
And your rack is good. It works off the governor. It will be fine. Give her some fuel.
That's good to hear! Thanks!
Have a 1956 D7C
That's pretty cool! Does it still have the pony motor? Scott
Operated ole 7e military tractor off and on for couple yrs in Augusta ga sand and clay pit
I remember those old military dozers! Started off my military career in an engineer company in 1985 and we had at least one. Scott
Here from GJ.....
Thanks for checking in and glad to see you here! Scott
You got the good stuff,Kroil better than wd40
I loves me some Kroil! Expensive, but worth it! Scott
never seen a dozer sit 10 yr with blade up
Blade was chained up. Thanks
That looks like a black hole to throw money into!
Can't be any worse than a boat! I had a 45' Hatteras years ago with twin diesels; that thing was a money pit!!! Scott
I trust you aren't going to try and start and run it with that primary mesh fuel filter missing!! It's there for a reason!!
No, I'm not. Pulled it to get a part number to replace it but it looks like it's in perfect condition so I will reinstall it. Thanks for your comment, Scott
All the things you mentioned that are worn out add up to price bargaining in your favour !
That's true!
Not worth fixing will need liners pistons
Possibly, but that's still TBD. Thanks, Scott
