Big thanks to all my Patrons. It gives me more space to make Art.
The Arpeggione Sonata was originally composed for the now-extinct arpeggione, a 6-stringed, fretted, bowed guitar-like instrument, invented in 1823. Schubert's sonata is the only significant composition for this instrument, which enjoyed a brief period of popularity in the 19th century. Today, it's common to hear the piece performed on the cello or viola, but the pairing with the harp adds an entirely new dimension to the music. 🎵🎻
