Sounds like the Harley Benton has better pickups than the stock Epiphone pickups. Both Epiphone guitars and Harley Benton guitars are beyond a budget guitar .... They are great guitars. And I own Gibson, Fender, Squire, Epiphones, Kramer , Jackson guitars and been playing for over 42 years.
Very similar. The Epi doesn't sound twice as good in my opinion: but cost twice as much. So it comes down to playability and finish. In my experience the Epiphones that I have previously owned ( including a G400) have always been shoddy in terms of playability and neck finish. Lots of buzzing and some dead frets which has really put me off the brand

You never know, I picked up an open box Chinese sg kit for like 39 bucks just for something to do, carefully reworked the neck put an old pro-bucker on the neck and a p90 I had in a bag-o-pickups on the bridge, painted it that vintage red like a really old sg surprisingly it smoked, like I said ya never know.
Honestly, think eppi edged clean parts but when dirt got sprinkled it's neck n neck I'm glad I heard this cuz I've been thinking about ordering one of the newer hb dc gotoh hardware I think it's gold on new ones even tho not usually a fan looks dope and think they're cheaper than prices mentioned here
The cleans are a bit different. When going into "crunch mode", they sound very much alike. The ONLY thing I don't like about the HB is that the cord jack is on the bottom, instead of in the front.
I like it where it is. My Epiphone crestwood custom has a jack on the front along with a bigsby style vibrato and 4 knobs and itss uner crowded. Im moving mine to the side. That’s the only complaint i have about that guitar. I like it better than any and all sg’s it has a similar body shape but is very thin and light. The best thing about it is the wonderful sounding mini humbuckers.

Now, it sometimes surpasses my 1974 Gibson LPC. DOESN'T MATTER WHAT IT SAYS ON THE HEADSTOCK .... IT'S HOW IT FEELS AND SOUNDS TO YOU !!!!
I'm becoming a big fan of Harley 20 years ago. Being left handed didn't give you good options and very expensive just for a shotty squire So many options now for the left-handed and Harley. Benton has won me over big time i'm getting five guitars one acoustic
SG for president i would be taking the Harley SG, Mostly cos it does looks a lot cooler to me than the Epi anyway Epi Ugly headstocks design always turned me off

I startet playing with an Epiphone Special II starter pack in 96. Pretty bad china stuff but man, I love that guitar anyway. In '13 I got myself an Epiphone LesPaul Standard Plustop Pro for 365 bucks. "Handcrafted in China". Ok, it plays a bit better but it's got some flaws in the finish that I just spottet too late to give it back. No, I did not purchase B-Stock. If I think now that I can get a James Hetfield Snakebite replica with original EMG pickups for just 33 Euros more which is perfect in sound and finish, it's clear who wins for me here.
My first electric was a maroon motsu kent sg. The HB cost the same as the kent did in 1977. I had a faded brown crescent moon sg it was stolen and still not recovered. Pinkpaisley tele stole too..a maroon HB sg would be nice
Any lower end guitar you usually have to set up the action and all that stuff to the height you want it and such whether it be Epiphone whether it be Harley Benton or whatever
The Hb is about half the cost and the difference is minimal, way to go Hb!

I love my HB SG almost as much as my Gibson LP. HB SG style is an amazing guitar the pickups kick ass just love it !
To me it seems the HB has more bite to the sound clarity, a bit more aggressive tone, exactly what I look for in a SG guitar. What is your feeling?

for me HB sounds better, I have had EPI G400 and always sounded to me too rounded. So I like HB's sharpness more.
