My husband was diagnosed with a grade 4 glioblastoma and we had 14 months of ups and downs. I told my kids the night he started seizing that we were in shock and surprised but God knew before the earth was formed that this was going to happen. We was not surprised and HE would carry us through. There is no peace like JESUS gives. There can be joy in the midst of these storms. God has been faithful all through our journey. I will pray for this family.

I know by no means do I have a devastating illness like cancer, but I do have MS as well as a severe chronic lower back pain that’s putting me in a wheelchair at 40. If this was an option for my illness I would do it to be free of being trapped in this body and to be free of the pain. But I can’t so all I can do is suffer through. And I say suffer because I measure that based on being in severe pain more than 70% of the time. I’ve seen family pass from cancer right in front of me and I’ve also been present during death with dignity. I’ll never forget either but if it means not to suffer imaginable pain, then I say by all means, be at peace with that ability to chose ❤

My wife died peacefully at home from cancer; during one of our deathbed talks she looked at me and said; "I bet your jealous that I am going first" and she was correct! My last gift to her was doing everything I could to get her into heaven! I had her anointed, I had her enrolled in the Brown Scapular and I prayed the Devine mercy Chaplet by her bedside often! She was not angry with her death sentence; she accepted God's will and her last words on this earth to me were "I love you" ! I pray that God does not let me linger here on earth too long without her....missing her is more painful than I could have ever imagined! I am not depressed or suicidal but I am sad! I told my son that should I have a heart attach or stroke I may not press that call button summoning EMS!

You were really looking for payback of some kind? What did you want? What did God give you? Only the BEST and MOST IMPORTANT gift ANY of us will EVER RECEIVE! So nice to see this heroic show of faith! With all the talk about “death with dignity” being the “right” to choose to end one’s own life before the day the Lord has chosen for that event, this video is a breath of fresh air and encouragement. When my daughter was involved in a horrific wreck when she was 14, I had to choose to allow fear to grip me and be of no use to her or to hold to the promise that He does not give us a spirit of fear and fight with the greatest weapon I had- prayer- for her! 31 days after the nearly fatal crash, she walked out of that hospital on her own when we had been told to look for a stay of at least 4 1/2-5 months! HE IS STILL A HEALER! Whether heat or there.. He knows what we need, when we need it and where.

I’m a devout Christian, but I believe God gives us the knowledge and ability to choose for ourselves regarding many aspects of our lives, including our deaths. I’m a nurse, and I’ve also survived advanced cancer - and if I were facing an agonizing death, I can’t believe that God would begrudge me choosing my time and way of dying. You’re 100% correct - we should respect one another’s viewpoints about this; we don’t know how we’ll truly feel about this unless we’re facing it ourselves. Peace to you as well, Shawn.

MY faith is inextricably linked to what I think about this assisted suicide (although it's not made clear that's what it was). I stand FLATFOOTEd upon the TRUTH: My condolences to the family, but this is against God,as SUICIDE. Period. That's not my opinion, which actually means NOTHING, that's the Word of God. ALL of mankind s souls, whether: atheist, agnostic, Catholic, Muslim, Christian, etc..,or NOT, belongs to God!!! Therefore, we, as mere created beings do not have the RIGHT to destroy our lives! I write this in love, not condemnation. The truth should never be swayed by this year's form and fashion.

@@itoo3654 I respectfully submit that whether there is a God is your opinion. We all get to decide for ourselves whether to believe. Please understand that when you say the Word of God is truth, you are expressing an opinion not a fact. What you believe is not more important than what I believe simply because you invoke God. The Bible was written by men and compiled by men. To me it is a misogynistic, brutal, violent book typical of the times in which it was written. You have the opinion that it is special. My opinion is different from yours. We have no chance at understanding each other unless we at least agree on what is fact and what is opinion.

@@kathleensmith1282 As a Christian, God certainly doesn’t begrudge us anything… that’s called Free Will. But He gave us His law to obey to receive His Life… and His law does not include deciding when to take our own. It’s Christianity 101 that Christ died *not* His “time and way of dying” but as the Father willed…
And Christianity 504 that He showed us how to suffer and die and offer our sufferings to God, for the redemption of others. Yes, we too can participate in His glorious redemption of mankind through our sufferings. But protestant Christianity lost that awareness when it cropped up 500 years ago.
Just some food for thought and prayer.

      @godblessamerica9356 Год назад

Dear non-religious atheist… what standards do yo have regarding the taking of another human life? How do you justify against it? What is the basis?
As a N-R A, you have no standards of living imposed on you, of life… so your beliefs are basically meaningless regarding imposing them on another…because the belief that it is wrong to take a life (another’s or your own) is basically imposed on you…
I think humanity basically falls apart without God’s law…and I think that is only because He is real…whether we come at this philosophically or scientifically (I’ve got plenty of scientist pals who study the depths of the universe and it imposes on them the reality of a Divine Architect, believe it or not.)
I’m not imposing this on you but hoping you’ll rethink this position because, philosophically, scientifically, your position ultimately falls apart… imposing a question on your soul, if you will :) Peace and happiness to you.

      @@professorvoluck9311 Hi,
I appreciate your opinion and thoughts. Thank you.
However, for me, after watching several family members pass from terminal illnesses or sudden medical emergency, I do NOT want that for me. I realize this is a personal choice. I believe each of us has the right to ask and follow through with what we believe is best for our own lives. Watching the tumors take over my sister who passed from Melanoma in '89 or my mom who had a Berry Aneurysm in her brain stem rupture at 47 to the old age of my father at 96 who is now been slowly dying over 8 years but so bitter and angry and untrusting of everyone, I just don't see that for myself. My choice, currently. But, who knows, this may change as I don't know what my future brings.

@Penelope L Goss I was just clarifying the message of the video for the commenter, but those are not my beliefs. I 100% support dying with dignity and I was a supporter of Dr. Kevorkian that showed courage and compassion to those that could not take anymore suffering. Penelope, you and I are on the same page.

We will see them again and what a welcome it will be. I tell you Im so glad to be a daughter of Zion knowing I have no end. Im eternal right now. Blackmonday
GOD does answer prayers but we must always remember that GOD'S will always takes president over our own. If you lost a loved one, and are angry that GOD didn't spare that person as you asked, perhaps the reason is because GOD actually loved them more! We are all HIS children and HE loves each and every one of us. We are each given so much time on this earth. We don't know when our tasks are completed nor do we know when our time is up but GOD knows.
Imagine how GOD must have felt to sacrifice His only son in order to save all of us! However, the saving isn't automatic
We must ask Jesus to forgive our sins, accept that He is the Son of God, that He died and rose on the 3rd day. Do our best to turn away from our sins and live our lives the best we can to be worthy of the sacrifice that was made for us. It's not an easy road but once you take that step, you will be amazed at the overwhelming love you will feel! This message is my prayer for you. GOD Bless You. Amen

Okay so everything you just said is based solely on your personal religious beliefs. You have the right to believe in whatever god you want and base your personal choices on that religion. However, in the US specifically, the first statement in the Bill of Rights prevents you from dictating my personal life due to your religion. Can you imagine how out raged Christians in the US would be if a Muslim politician tried to make a law based on their religion?

Prayer combines many known phonomeon together, which actually produces real world results. However, these results are practical results such as establishing a goal, articulating desires, focus, envisioning the future, law of attraction. Prayer does not cause magic to take place. Limbs will not be re-grown. The dead will not be raised. Sickness will not be cured via magic from God. However prayer will help with many other known phonomeon, especially emotionally. But be aware, prayer will not produce magic.

I don't know why people get hung up with the word dignity. It's just an alliteration.
Death where we reduce needless human suffering, is that better?
Even Jesus did not suffer this long. He did six hours on the cross, and of course the beatings and humiliations. But still, I have been suffering for months and I want out. I have alsready lost my dignity, now I want the suffering to end. What more of Christian virtue is there?

The most worthy offering. God restores the health the world takes away. When we go to live with Jesus in our glorified bodies, it will be forever.

In the U.S., everyone has a right to approach illness and death as they think best. The Thomms did that.
Many of us consider medical aid-in-dying an option, when it seems clear to medical staff and to ourselves that death is near. That is also a spiritual approach. Medical aid-in-dying may be accompanied by joy, which the Thomms' funeral certainly seemed devoid of. When a person chooses medical aid-in-dying, all the goodbyes that need to be said can been said, everything is in place, and survivors are more prepared, after healthy grieving (NOT toxic grieving!) to move on.

None of what happened after the Garden Of eden was Gods will. What about Samson though. After he told his secret, was captured and eyes gouged out. Then the day came when he was preforming in the Colosseum. He cried out to God for just once more to be given strength to take vengeance on his enemy, and to let him perish as well. You can actually make the argument that God helped him commit suicide as well as kill over 3,000 philistines.
