The craziest thing about that Will Call line is after it gets super long on Wednesday afternoon, it stays that way for pretty much the entire con. Even on the last day, that line still wraps all the way through the convention center.
It seems to vary a lot from year to year but late at night on Wednesday can be another good time to go to will call. I had some friends arrive in Indy around midnight on Wednesday and the line was only like 30 people. Sunday this year was insane though, I don't think I've ever seen the line double back on itself and loop all the way back to the Gencon merch booth.
@@cowgba Yeah, this year definitely felt the busiest I’ve seen since I started going in 2017. I thought maybe I was just imagining it, but I’ve heard several others say the same thing.
Blob Party!! I'm so glad to stopped by to give it a highlight! It's made by a local-to-me designer. It's her second game, and she is (rightly so) very proud of it. Delighted to hear it sold out.
The time it takes to get from the airport, to the hotel, get unpacked, go out and get food and other provisions for the week of a convention is all something I'm keenly familiar with. My friends and I come into Atlanta for Dragon Con around noon on Wednesday, for a convention where the badge pickup doesn't open until like 9 or 10am on Thursday.
+1, understanding the importance of "Day 0" is the mark of an experienced con-goer lol. Well, that and not waiting until one week before the con to start looking for a hotel room.
Great Video! make sure next time to hit the First Exposure Playtest Hall, those games really need exposure, and will be some of the next hits on the market, and there were some absolutely amazing games there this year.
Although the entire clip is great and gives a unique perspective of the convention the highlight for me is the conclusion. I have often heard the you must leave now announcement but your facial reaction is priceless. Thanks for being so fun to watch.
Went to GENCON once about 10 years ago - spent 3 days in the Auction Room bought over 100 items and spent over $1,000 THEN went into the VENDORS ROOM and spent about $500 MORE - Could just BARELY fit everything back into the car with my buddies and drive back to K.C. Mo. !! Had fun but it's a long drive !! :-)
I was there the full 4 days and I totally missed the Undergrove prototype! I did screenshot from you video to get the RQ lolol. It is a shame I did not see you, would've Loved to take a picture with you!
We changed our minds and decided to go pretty much last minute so we had to stand in the Will Call line, it wasn’t that bad. We got to chat with people and talk about the games people were anticipating and what everyone was excited about. I’m not even sure how long we were in line. We got in line Wed around 4 or 5 in the afternoon after we arrived in Indy.
1. Star Wars Unlimited was awesome 2. Darn, I didn't see you this year and in previous year only saw you within the glass booth 3. I too was still holding out inside when that announcement was made at the very end. Until next year...
Totally photo bombed your vlog on the last day. It's so funny because I didn't even recognize you but I remember when the hall closed and I had to make my way back to my booth to help tear down. 😅 Looks like you had a great convention!
Thanks for the vlog! I kept watching the background to see if I inevitably walked right past you without noticing lol. Maybe I'll bump into you next year!
I forgot you said you where going. To think I might have passed you at gen con and never got to say hi. But that is alright by Friday I was a Exhausted.
I missed your monday morning stream on twitch but this is more than making up for it. Hope you had a lot of fun. 🙂 BTW the COC games looks so cool, even as a prototype. Will you play it live?
As someone who appeared in your video for like 5 frames, I can say you don't need video proof you made it to the finals of that strike tournament because I can corroborate your having been there!
I saw Paula in line at a food truck and I told her "I love your youtube" and it feels like such a dumb thing to say. It will haunt me for the rest of my life.
yeah I actually think this is due to the shutter speed. The setting got changed at some point and I didn't realize until later. It's something I'm certainly going to be keeping a better eye on in the future so it doesn't happen again. Lots to think about when shooting video on the go like this.
How many times did you have to stop/cut the video because random people talking to you like “OMG it’s Paula from things get dicey or isn’t she a member from watch it played” interruptions etc.

I loved your comment about Han getting ready to shoot first. Thanks for the tour, Gen Con looked amazing and intense
Great overview. Hope to see you at Gencon next year
Yes! Ice! I saw this at least a year ago and wondered what ever happened to it. Glad to see that it's still out there.
It was cool to see you with the Glass Cannon folks.

It's Yelka! Love Blood of the Wild!
Oooh, NICE transition from the end of Day 1 to Day 2!
a totally on purpose match cut! (I actually had to go back and watch that bit to see what I'd done so well hahaha because I just lucked into that)
Loved seeing you in the Glass Cannon shows! Hope you can do Call of Cthulhu with them!
oh, I would love that
I saw you doing a podcast on Friday of Gencon!
You are really well spoken..

Return to Dark Tower shirt makes an appearance!

The Balloonar Lander.
Did anyone else think "Is that a Cthulu Verson of "Colt Express?" when the train game was first shown?
Was really nice meeting you ever so briefly in the hallway. Hope you had a great con.
Thank you so much Paula for taking the time and show us Gen Con!! 😺
Didn't expect the brief Dragon Dice cameo 🐲 Great and underrated revamp of the game. Thanks, Paula!
This was really well done!

that's a good point, it is a good way to do some chatting and get excited for the event
That was great. Thank you Paula Deming!
Thanks for sharing
In the grim, dark future there is only walk.
Thanks for checking out Four Humours, Paula! Hope you enjoy it. 😊
One of my favorite vlogs of GenCon!
aw wow thanks!
So, so great to meet you in person, Paula! One of the highlights of the con for me!
SAME!
Paula, you seem like just the most pleasant person in everything you do. Great Vlog! Thanks.
aw well thank you! I have my moments of course but I do try to be pleasant
Goûta look into Harvest more seriously. Definitely caught my attention. Hopefully I can attend gencon someday. That's the dream
VLOG Skill Unlocked!!! well done, Paula... care of Skillshare. 😊
1. Star Wars Unlimited was awesome
2. Darn, I didn't see you this year and in previous year only saw you within the glass booth
3. I too was still holding out inside when that announcement was made at the very end. Until next year...
So nice to see you still smiling at the end of that long convention. 👍😄👍
I was so tired but I honestly had a great time
If you aren't outside the building lined up in front of Victory Field, were you even in the Will Call line?
Very entertaining Paula. Thanks!
Amazing vlog, thank you!

Hehehe well thanks for making an appearance!
Great job!
It was nice meeting you at the elevator briefly haha
Thanks for the vlog! I kept watching the background to see if I inevitably walked right past you without noticing lol. Maybe I'll bump into you next year!
fingers crossed!
Paula is like a fly spy not on the wall but on a walk.
This is awesome!
Han shot first, Paula confirms the canon.
Thanks Paula! this was soo fun to see and I'm excited to try out Skill share too!! 😍
yay!
Grabbing a copy of My Island was first on my list! Looks like you had a good time. :D
it's literally the first thing I did once my early morning meeting on Thursday finished!
@@PaulaDeming Luckily my friends at the IV Games booth let me step away to snag it right when the con kicked off 🤣
Paula, did you get a chance to check out Defenders of the Dictionary in the Demo Hall? I'm dying to hear more about that game!
I very sadly didn't! But hopefully I'll be able to see more of it soon
Love a real as hecc Paula vlog!! I was also that skeleton the last day of the con 🤣
I am sure the only reason there isn't more footage is because it was so packed you couldn't have if you wanted too!
How did your game of Sky Team turn out? Were you victorious?
we were! Landed that plan like experts ;)
I really enjoyed this video. It's cool to see what someone else's experience was like compared to my own :) I am glad you enjoyed yourself.
it was so nice seeing you as well, even if it was very brief!
I forgot you said you where going. To think I might have passed you at gen con and never got to say hi. But that is alright by Friday I was a Exhausted.
Paula is like a Fly Spray. They never see it coming until it's too late. Ha! Ha! Very Good Entertaing and Interesting Video. Well done Paula.
I missed your monday morning stream on twitch but this is more than making up for it.
Hope you had a lot of fun. 🙂
BTW the COC games looks so cool, even as a prototype. Will you play it live?
ooh I'll try to play it live for sure! It doesn't come out for a good long while though so we have some waiting to do
❤

However...she was representing the wrong side 😛 - Marty
You’re so delightfully weird. Thanks for taking a unique approach to your gen con coverage.
I saw Paula in line at a food truck and I told her "I love your youtube" and it feels like such a dumb thing to say. It will haunt me for the rest of my life.
don't feel dumb! it made me feel very nice!
Thanks Paula, you're too sweet. More importantly I thoroughly enjoyed the Vlog@@PaulaDeming
I wonder if I’ll catch myself in any of your shots…
I tried, Paula - I was looking around constantly trying to spot you so I could say hey, but I never saw ya. :(
it's amazing how you can run into the same people over and over at an event like this and then some people just never see at all.
Unfortunately, when the camera moves, it smears together or gets blurry. It’s probably your framerate.
yeah I actually think this is due to the shutter speed. The setting got changed at some point and I didn't realize until later. It's something I'm certainly going to be keeping a better eye on in the future so it doesn't happen again. Lots to think about when shooting video on the go like this.

haha well lots of lovely people said hello to me but none while I was filming (I think the camera scares people off)
