For me the Vincent and the Blackbird are the best in that list, with the gear driven 1000 V4 in third place. It’s more than simple jingoistic pride and brand loyalty. Honda just suggested quality to me via an unspoken synergy from the very beginning: my first bike in 1975. It was the same thing with Apple computers from 1985 - decades before they became ‘cool’. They were always in a different league. And arguably, there are huge similarities between the genius business mindsets of Soichiro Honda and Steve Jobs - which shone quietly through their products. Great video as always. Superbly researched and presented. Thank you for sharing. Ride safe. Peace 🏴
@@barebonesmc You’re most welcome mate. Sometimes I feel people might see me as elitist. But some things are just superior aren’t they? Velocettes were among the best at one point. Broughs and Vincents obviously were above them. I just feel Honda lead the way without being brash, loud or slutty! 🧐😎😜 Peace 🏴
@@G58 and to you mate, they all have their place, I have always thought Yamaha were great at delivering a package more than the sum of its part. @@barebonesmc Your experience of different models far exceeds my own. I always find your assessments to be very well informed, encyclopaedic even. Am I jealous? Yeah. Even though I spent years gathering knowledge on other subjects in other fields, sometimes I wish I’d played with bikes more. Anyway, we are where we are. I seriously believe you should write a book on the bikes you’ve owned and worked on. Books are more permanent records. When the EMPs go off, there will only be books. 👀🙈 Peace 🏴

No mention of the Bimota Furano fuel injected beauty in its time, The road holding was fantastic Ohlins front and back. Fully floating breaks , wonderful bikes !
I love the stuff you put out. Love across pond accent and knowledge. Here in the States we got all the Japanese bikes and very few Euro bike ever made over here until the 2010’s. Not that had numerous bikes but I’ve had a few. I still own a 75’ Z1b and it’s stablemate is a ZX6R. The 600 will do an honest 268 kph or 166 mph, not bad for a bike half the displacement discussed here. I don’t need to go any faster. I supposed if I had it dyno tune and spent for a titanium exhaust I could go a little faster, but it’s not worth the money or effort. Besides I love hear that scream at 16500 rpm.
EXCELLENT VIDEO ! IM A SUBSCRIBER ! THOUGHT YOU WERE GONNA MISS THE ZX12R, THANK YOU FOR NOT. HOWEVER, IN 2001 ( AND ONLY THAT YEAR) THE ZX12R DID 201 MPH OUT OF THE BOX IN THE USA !!! I remember asking a mate for a go on the back of his turbocharged GPZ1100. His mates said I mad. I found out they were correct. zx12r indeed has 179hp on paper, but with the dynamic air boost (ram air system), it delivers an overall 190hp. I've owned her for a few years, and she'll stay with me until the end-whether it's hers or mine. With 134 Nm and just 7500 rpm, it's a thrilling rollercoaster ride. My mods? Full Akrapovič exhaust system, Power Commander 5, Dynojet autotune, Brembo RCS19 master cylinder, Nissin calipers, and a 4-degree advance on the ignition timing. How much horsepower now? I have no idea, but it's still enough to provide the best Fun Factor ever.
While I love bikes, going really fast is too scary for me. I prefer to plod around the back 40 on a trail bike. But for those who have the nerve, go for it 👍
being honest mate, our roads arent built for speed, i do still have a few fast bikes, but theyve only been used on track days in the past few years, but each to their own, i had my moments when i was younger lol
I had an '87 FZR1000, it didn't have the top speed of my '85 FJ1200 which I took to over 170 with just a rear sprocket. My brother still has that red and white FJ and a blackbird. My 1988 GSXR750 J would pull 165 at 15500 rpm in top. Vacuum fuel taps are my biggest fail on long duration full throttle. Just take the spring out of the diaphragm or run lean and burn up exhaust valves from low fuel levels. No fuel injection in my day, still don't care for it on bike.
happen to me the same i never heard about the zx12r .for some reason they try to put the hayabusa in its place but only the h2 can beat it ...i seen zx12r running at 325km/h and thats faster than any other bike
Rode the kwak 500 n750 in the past they where a loony bike great fun back then but i was young and stupid lucky to be here know 130 bike later kow an old man on a busa and a full power v max and two mid range v twin shaft yams n a triumph daytona triple ride free all keep it on the black stuff be safe my true family in life be bless on the road there is a futre nevr forget its in are hands
Am I the only one that remembers bike magazines reporting early Hayabusa & ZX-12R's attaining 200 mph at runway test tracks, only to change their stories after adverse comments. Or a case of forget the previous, from now on its this ?
@@barebonesmc Nope, fuel injected the entire run. Mine was a 2000, fuel injected. The ZZR1200 or ZX12C was carbed. Completely different bikes. The 12R was a totally new and modern design, the 12C was basically a newer version of the ZX11. I know it's a little confusing since Kawi had quite a few 1200's at this time and the different naming schemes for different regions
Off to the real world and our high-desert, topspeed test site, we ran both bikes in stock form. No surprises there, the Kawasaki stuttered past the radar gun at 185.6 mph, while the Suzuki moaned to 183.9 mph. Yawn....Resetting the Zed-Ex's Yellow Box yielded a shrieking 190.2-mph blast (with the speedo reading a leisurely 160 miles per), and the TRE-equipped Hayabusa stormed to 192.4 mph. All with a light tailwind, mind you, but in line with our original 'Busa's 189 mph run two years ago.

@@barebonesmc fully agree, i have no probs with the race side of things, i just feel the whole electric thing is being pushed far too much, the vehicles are far too expensive, they have a finite life, they are inconvenient, your never going to have a cheap runabout & they sound crap
@@cbrboy76 True, I used to watch Marc Travels but stopped in the end, the idea of every journey including riding close behind a lorry to extend range put me off him and the bike completely, being honest, i think the whole electric fiasco is just a marketing exercise, and when theyve sold enough they will admit the problems and point everyone to another new alternative. it always boils down to money somewhere, but yep, the electric bandwagon is just that, a bandwagon everyone is being pushed onto, all a bit daft

Kawasakis were nothing more than a flash in the pan bikes, the Hayabusa owns it all still today. Welcome aboard mate, The ZX12R is a special bike, enjoy the ride and cheers for the support

@@G58 and to you mate, they all have their place, I have always thought Yamaha were great at delivering a package more than the sum of its part. Besides I love hear that scream at 16500 rpm.

fuel injected after 2002 i believe, sorry if that wasnt made clear, I do my best 🙂
