When I purchased a set there were only one size being offered which were rated at 5 litres. My front forks have the 3 threaded mounts on them but I had to be careful as the forks were angled towards tire which made mounting other cages not possible. These were easily mounted and I found rectangular shape bags seem to be easier to stuff than cylindrical shape bags. I carry camp fuel, spare foldable tire, compact inflatable air mattress, small tool kit. These bags are allowing me to carry some gear up front on the carbon forks not as much as full size panniers but I’m trying to reduce my pack load when touring. 3:03
I have a pair of the 5litre. These were to replace two cylindrical bags that were strapped to fork. I often found it was easier to get stuff into and out of a rectangular bag than a cylindrical shape.
nice review, I always pick the largest bag as long as I can afford them because in case of ortlieb pannier you can always make it smaller not vice versa 😀
Just bought a 4.1L and a 5.8L for my sleeping system. Yeti VIB 400 in the large bag and a matress, pad and pillow in the other one. That just opened up a lot of space in my front rando bag.
@@jeremyw.465 Certainly not cheap. But made in Europe with a more ethically sourced down. It has served me well these past 10 years and still going strong.

Hey Pierre, as far as I can tell that should work! In the video from Ortlieb about the Fork Pack they say that if you have only one screw you should also mount a band which also comes included, so if you are unsure if it will hold you could also add that. But I don't think that is necessary. If the two eyelets on your fork are at a distance of one another that you can attache the black cage to both of them you should be fine. Hope I could help :)
@@jeremyw.465 But be careful - the mounting Option with the metal band should not be used on Carbon Forks. So if you have a Carbon Fork with just one eyelet you can't use this Cage (or any other really)
How is the compability with the SKS Speedrocker? I saw that you're using them too. Can you mount the Speedrocker while the Ortlieb brackets are already on the fork or do you have to remove the brackets first? I would install the Fork Packs with 3 screws on my fork.
Hey, I always first attache the Mount for the Ortlieb Fork Pack first and then the SKS Speedrocker mudguard without any problem. The other way around should also be possible, but I recommend to first attache the mounts in order to know where to place the clamps of the mudguard. I also use 3 screws to attache the mounts to my fork and I attache the lower clamp of the Speedrocker below and the upper clamp above the mounts. The only adjustment I have to make is on the left side of the fork I take the C-clips off in order to route the break hose a bit differently otherwise it is a bit in the way of the clamps of the mudguard. @@jeremyw.465I installed both yesterday on my bike. Kind of a problem is that the upper screw of the bracket covers ideal position of the front part of that fender. It hovers 3-4 cm above the tyre. The back part would be ok, as you can shorten the rods with a saw. But not much I can do about the front part. Bit unfortunate but still ok. Thanks for your reply!
Hey @@bekahride That is truly unfortunate... It may be that the tree screw on your fork sit higher up and therefor there isn't enough room for the upper attachment of the Mudguard... @@jeremyw.465Just watched your videos and yeah it's a bit unfortunate but still works with my 40 mm tyres on a Ghost Asket in XL. It's more like 3 cm clearance which still looks acceptable. Btw saw in October SKS will release a XL version of speedrockers for up to 52 mm tyres.
So I just tried it out with an IPad 16.1 and that fits easily! But be aware that I have the 5,8L version of the Fork Pack so I can’t tell if it fits in the smaller 4.1L version.

Interested in this bag. My fork has only two (2), not three (3) eyelets on each side. Will it be possible to fit these bags in?

Do you think it is possible to carry a 11" iPad inside the 5.8L bag? I was thinking of using them for my daily commutes.
