FYI, LFG’s are pulling in a different direction with location and call outs for Atheon. Most teams seem to be going with: * Kill Oracles from far side of room to ignore adds. * Near/Far Left, Right, Mid
A tip from my teams runs... Dont reverse the Oracles. the room is a copy of the throne room from a separate timeline... step to the platform where you would DPS Atheon and wait for Oracle calls, there is a minor learning curve for how to keep sightlines... Relic holder can (Like D1) solo the mobs in the portal leaving the others free to focus oracles... this should be easier than balancing a 180 degree rotated chart, allowing both teams to have the same perspective, then callouts become Close/Far Left/Middle/Right... good call on the detain being visible to the relic holder! Numbered positions with a numbered order is a bad idea for some people
I'm honestly confused by him saying they are in a different position. If he meant relative to where they spawn in, sure, but that just seems like normal due to the rooms being essentially the same place. I could definitely see this method being a problem for people who struggle with visualization, though.
"there is a minor learning curve for how to keep sightlines" You keep line of sight by going further back to the door. :) Easier to avoid falling shield and dashing down to wipe too. :-D Numbered callouts are faster by a large margin, but to each their own. It's not like Templar oracles where you have to remember the order and the position between multiple people as there is no clear line of sight for a single person - making numbering difficult, a single person from the same point of view can easily call out the Atheon oracles for the inside team.

Yeah that’s what I find simplest, numbering things can be confusing cause people like numbering oracles differently sometimes, but no one does left/mid/right and far/close differently
Just go to the other end of the portal room during Aetheon Oracle. It's literally replicated, and the portal home is closer. Plus no ads come there. No need to wait in the middle dealing with ads.
Something else you can also do is call oracles as left, middle, and right along with saying either close or far. For our group last night, I voiced how I dislike the middle platform for dp. Instead, I suggested we do dps infront of the portal and the stairs that portal team exists. Here you are closer to atheon, have cover, and have more space to manuver. You can also be spread out a little more so that if someone gets detained maybe onw or two others might get detained instead of the whole team. We did this, and finally killed Atheon again. I also got mythoclast first time.
Hey Datto! I really enjoyed watching Math Class do day 1 and trying the raid later with my friends. We were thinking about doing the title and I was wondering if you are thinking about doing a guide for Fatebreaker when it's available. Love the content and I hope you have a great day.
yknow if you just run through the portal and all the way to back of the room, turn around so you’re facing the portal you came in from and read the back oracles from 1-3 (left to right)and the closer ones 4-6. you do this so the ppl on the outside can also call out 1-3 and 4-6 and it helps clear any confusion because you’re oriented in the same way.
I found going across the arena to the door and calling oracles relative to each other worked. "Middle, left, right", or "right, front left, back left" if two were on the same side.
One step further if there is a stack say back left front. Makes it super easy, the call of left means the front and back have to be either middle or right.
This is what my team and I did, too. We would also only call "left, middle, right etc" if all 3 oracles spawned on different sides. Also, you only need to calm out the first 2 as the 3rd will be the only one remaining
Yeah this is how we did it. It seems 1000% less complicated. It's also safer for the teleported team since they can go to the far end and virtually ignore the rest of the enemies.
Agreed. It just flows really well and there aren't any dead roles that just kinda stand around doing nothing. VoG 2.0 in general is pretty fun, but they definitely nailed Gatekeepers + Atheon.
@@2xben if u swao relic instantly agter leaving the portal to the main room and stack orbs at the confluxes... and there is a mod which grants you super energy for defeating pratorians. This mods stacks and will be helpful whil on the last conflux.
That’s not true. It’s inconsistent. I’ve tested it. A few times it worked. Then the next two times the oracles didn’t blow up. So either my warmind cell was too far away or something else was going on. But it isn’t consistent.
Thank you datto so much for telling people to number oracles. People are trying to over complicate it. I had to make a map to help my clan but it’s simple
The 1-6 oracle callouts are also the best because they match the tones of the oracles, so 1 is the lowest and 6 is the highest. As someone who uses 50% visual 50% audio to call out oracles, I like this system the best. Also, starfire protocol with fusion nades for the warlock on well is a great combo. Time's Vengence and high discipline (which all warlocks have lol) gives you almost instant nades. I found that a good strategy was throw a fusion, 1-3 sniper shots, throw a fusion, repeat. I was using succession but it would work even better with Praedyth's revenge.
Oracle defense section: IDK if someone already said this but if you shoot a shielded minotaur with Prometheus Lense it will destroy its shield, too. Therefore you can totally ignore the relict.
Datto’s team’s communication was absolutely spot on. I’ve watched a few teams do runs and Datto’s team was by far and away the best at clear, concise call outs. Nice fucking job. Also entertaining to boot.
So when I went back in after day one (I got up to Atheon but could not clear it on day one), I found a group who introduced the way they called out these oracles. It was SOOOOOOOO helpful. Here's how it works: You have to read the oracles from left to right in the main room. the three furthest would be labeled A, B, and C while the three closest will be labeled 1, 2, and 3. I have sherpa'd about three groups so far explaining this to them. They found this to be much easier compared to 1 - 6 (although there is no harm in doing that). Just remember to go literally all the way back if you spawn at Venus or Mars because you will get the best view.
Hey datto, one thing my clan has done on the oracles is call the out simply by saying: back or front, for example: back left, front left, back middle, front middle and what not.
I feel like front or back, left right middle is a good universal callout. Its very easy to just run to the back and turn around and then you have the same callouts as everyone else without neeeding to turn around
The best way I’ve seen if you’re teaching your friends is to start with things like front middle, front left, stuff like that. And once they’re familiar and good with the encounter if you want to show them the number version you can
Just FYI in case some people don't know, Anarchy doesn't stick to targets being shot with Divinity, and can fall off sometimes if Div player shoots after you stick with Anarchy.
This is correct for most enemys. But huge bois like atheon works a little different. You cannot stick the div bubble But you can shoot every other part (like his legs)
Left side: Harpies! Even side: Many Harpies! Now, Handle it!! i feel like those who know what this is referencing would understand how funny it would be seeing them in this game
8:35 I think it is far better to just run to the opposite side of the portal and call them: -Close Left, Far Left, Close Mid, Far Mid, Close Right, Far Right.
8:16 our team read it like a clock 12 being where you spawn in and 6 across from you. only reason I bother to say this is because everyone no matter who you are knows what a clock looks like and all it takes is being in the centre to find each oracle.
With my team, we had our warlocks (other than 1 on well) use bottom tree nova for damage. You can get 2/3 nova bombs off, and if you just throw a vortex nade at where the detained person will be, that usually clears them.
The aerial Harpies don't respawn during the oracles bit. Take them down to one on each side before the teleport, then kill the last one so that you never have to worry about them at all. They'll respawn after the damage phase though.
For some reason, my friends group found a bit more success with setting up DPS around the portal that the shield team exits from (though I suspect it had to do with the fact that our main source of damage was top-tree Voidwalkers).
Wow, as someone who played D1 for over 1000 hours and hasn't played D2 since the first few months of release this sounds so confusing. Not sure if im just getting old or your explanation is just too fast for me. I've only been playing for 5 weeks and I've surprisingly beat it twice the first two times trying but i've stayed away from playing any important roles to avoid messing up too much. I actually feel more confused watching this than i did after those first 2 tries without knowing about any of the updates to this raid.
I was in the same mind. Feels like they made this too complicated. D1 VoG Atheon encounter was loads of fun because you didn't have loads of people screaming callouts, whereas in D2 it's just a mess of mechanics. Would have been great if they had classic VoG on normal & the new mechanics on a harder difficulty
There are 18 enemy spawns before you leave the portals. They have a pattern. 2 waves of goblins, then either a wyvern or a minotaur. After all the all the spawns end, you go defend the conflux in the middle
Gatekeeper cheese: As of this post, Prometheus Lens QUICKLY kills the shielded Minataurs on its own, without the need for the relic. Send one person thru each portal with Prometheus Lens to make this encounter a breeze, especially if they run warmind cell builds as well. No Relic passing required.
I think datto is way over complicating the oracle callouts as the portal room is the same as the initial room you just go to the back where the old dps platform is then all the oracles are the same orientation as those on the outside Call out for oracles only then needs to be left right middle and either back or front for when two middle oracles spawn.
For atheon I find it easier for the portal team to run to the far back so that it looks exactly the same as in the throne room so callouts aren’t flipped
Fun fact...Mars is actually just Venus in the future. I just noticed this with the updated environment but you can see magma beneath the desert arena, and you'll see volcanic rock formations and blue fire vents in some places. When you kill Atheon the Portal opens for Past and Present if you want to see for yourself.
Yes, that's what I thought aswell... Then I saw the Sol Primeval and Sol Imminent Destinypedia articles and thought "aren't they also in VoG?" so watched this video where he fought Vex labled "Descendant Goblin" on "Venus" and I was like: "WHY?! This doesn't make sense! Why would this place flourish in the future?! Having it decay and become like a hellish place in the future would make so much more sense!" But hey, everyone can have their headcanon...
Don't tell datto but in the Atheon fight during the teleportation phase if you go to the back of the room, adds won't reach you (the ones that still shoot you can be easily blocked with the relic) and you can focus on oracles.
Not sure if my fireteam was just getting lucky, but it would appear that the detain debuff can be completely avoided if the relic user hits atheon with the relic super. Edit: Maybe this effect is from certain supers. Couldn’t really tell in the three atheon runs we did. For certain there were damage phases no one was detained.
As of right now there is some cheese on the minotaurs where you can simply use prometheus lens to take off the shields on the minotaurs. (This doesnt work if the minotaur is effected by stasis)
The easiest way to do the Venus/Mars oracles is to immediately have all three people head to the very back behind the island. You get full view and easy calls as Left Back, Left front, right, middle.
The oracle strat I did was run to the back because then you’ll see the oracles at the same position as the throne team and the goblins get no where near to kill you.
I have one question because I haven't seen anyone try or talk about it. In D1 you could shoot atheon with a charged relic blast and he would not dance around. Does this not work anymore or it hasn't been tried by anyone?

Stoked to hear you're reapplying yourself to vids! Your humor and sarcasm plus tons of knowledge is the BEST!
"Almost unkillable"
Wardcliff would like a few words.
Atheon may be my new favorite raid encounter. It’s challenging, rewarding, and also fun
I absolutely love the changes to the Gatekeeper encounter. It honestly might be my new favorite non-boss raid encounter in all of Destiny.
Vault from last wish takes it for me. But gatekeepers is way better now
@@EmmyEntropy2000 before the Gatekeeper reprise it was Vault for me too. We’ll see after a couple months if Gatekeeper is still number 1.
Agreed. It just flows really well and there aren't any dead roles that just kinda stand around doing nothing. VoG 2.0 in general is pretty fun, but they definitely nailed Gatekeepers + Atheon.
Loved danielles “WhAt” at the end of your mid game explanation
you can also freeze the shielded minotaur which my team found very useful
you pretty much need to use salvations grip to stall the praetorians for the triumph to only kill them with the relic super
@@2xben if u swao relic instantly agter leaving the portal to the main room and stack orbs at the confluxes... and there is a mod which grants you super energy for defeating pratorians. This mods stacks and will be helpful whil on the last conflux.
fun fact: popping warmind cells destroys the oracles in the correct order every time.
Somebody said that in my raid group and I just couldn’t stop laughing at that fact 😂😂 Bungie sucks so hard at making games it hurts
Don’t you have to get the first oracle though?
False
That’s not true. It’s inconsistent. I’ve tested it. A few times it worked. Then the next two times the oracles didn’t blow up. So either my warmind cell was too far away or something else was going on. But it isn’t consistent.

The music makes me happy :)
Datto saying numbering them being the simplest strat while my mostly crayon eating team just used right left and middle with front or back specified
You can also use back left, middle, right, and front left, middle, right
forgot to mention, a team mate to call out the oracles, can sit on the wall in the back right without getting hit by the suppliants.
I know how to do this already, but I just like watching these videos for some reason
Oracle defense section:
IDK if someone already said this but if you shoot a shielded minotaur with Prometheus Lense it will destroy its shield, too.
Therefore you can totally ignore the relict.
I don't play destiny anymore but damn. I just come for the guides and that music.
Hey datto, one thing my clan has done on the oracles is call the out simply by saying:
back or front, for example: back left, front left, back middle, front middle and what not.
Excellent video, Datto 😁
currently waiting for the d2 community to agree on the same oracle call outs
I feel like front or back, left right middle is a good universal callout. Its very easy to just run to the back and turn around and then you have the same callouts as everyone else without neeeding to turn around
@@EmmyEntropy2000 agreed
We did it exavtly like this. Works perfect

The best way I’ve seen if you’re teaching your friends is to start with things like front middle, front left, stuff like that. And once they’re familiar and good with the encounter if you want to show them the number version you can
thank god it's posted before tuesday's reset, these guides are the best
This one needs tweaking tbh, a few of the things are actually a harder way to do things.
@@xLionsxxSmithyx like the oracles during atheon called by numbers xD
@@doktorsmiles2034 yes Haha, that's the hardest most confusing way I've seen somone do that encounter.
Thank you for all of your videos, Mr. Datto!
Just FYI in case some people don't know, Anarchy doesn't stick to targets being shot with Divinity, and can fall off sometimes if Div player shoots after you stick with Anarchy.
This is correct for most enemys. But huge bois like atheon works a little different. You cannot stick the div bubble
But you can shoot every other part (like his legs)
Left side: Harpies!
Even side: Many Harpies!
Now, Handle it!!
i feel like those who know what this is referencing would understand how funny it would be seeing them in this game
God the onyxia wipe animation was one of the best things to come out of the Golden Age of RUclips.

I think it is far better to just run to the opposite side of the portal and call them:
-Close Left, Far Left, Close Mid, Far Mid, Close Right, Far Right.
Only need to say Close/far if there's more than 1 on that side... otherwise it's just Left, mid, right.
I got the day one clears but I'm still gonna watch this video
Gatekeeper
Witherhoard, ikelos mp, falling guillotine
Overload mp, breach and clear
Worked wonders during contest

Amazing guide. Thank you Datto!!
There are 18 enemy spawns before you leave the portals. They have a pattern. 2 waves of goblins, then either a wyvern or a minotaur. After all the all the spawns end, you go defend the conflux in the middle
Love the vid Datto
Gatekeeper cheese: As of this post, Prometheus Lens QUICKLY kills the shielded Minataurs on its own, without the need for the relic. Send one person thru each portal with Prometheus Lens to make this encounter a breeze, especially if they run warmind cell builds as well. No Relic passing required.
I think datto is way over complicating the oracle callouts as the portal room is the same as the initial room you just go to the back where the old dps platform is then all the oracles are the same orientation as those on the outside
Call out for oracles only then needs to be left right middle and either back or front for when two middle oracles spawn.
For atheon I find it easier for the portal team to run to the far back so that it looks exactly the same as in the throne room so callouts aren’t flipped
It's better to be near ads for killing them! Super energy and ammo gained!
@@iihavetoes not really necessary tho, shouldn't really be ysing your heavy for oracles anyway
YES THE MUSIC also my team used M,R,L 1and2 1 being far 2 being close
got vex mythoclast on my second raid, needless to say i was happy. never got it or gjallahorn in d1 so i feel like i deserved it!
Thank you Datto, much appreciated 😁
Don't tell datto but in the Atheon fight during the teleportation phase if you go to the back of the room, adds won't reach you (the ones that still shoot you can be easily blocked with the relic) and you can focus on oracles.
Great video datto. I'll try this way. Might tweak it.
the og raid music is back less gooooooooo
YES! THE MUSIC!
Great video keep up the good work on your channel loving it ☺️👍🔥
Not sure if my fireteam was just getting lucky, but it would appear that the detain debuff can be completely avoided if the relic user hits atheon with the relic super.
Edit: Maybe this effect is from certain supers. Couldn’t really tell in the three atheon runs we did. For certain there were damage phases no one was detained.
I believe thundercrash is what causes it because he stomps which makes him miss the detain animation
I think the Relic Super prevents it but dealing over a certain damage amount prevents it as well.
@@xLionsxxSmithyx you can search up Thundercrash Atheon and you will find that he stomps which prevents detain
@@xLionsxxSmithyx the thundercrash preventing it is also a strategy for doing Atheon trio
@@skelox_ yes... because it does a big enough amount of damage, which knocks him out of the animation.
A wave frame GL is incredibly good on the ad clear encounters.
About time VOG came back!
The oracle strat I did was run to the back because then you’ll see the oracles at the same position as the throne team and the goblins get no where near to kill you.
Datto: if you've beaten Riven...
Me: *pffft piece of cake*
Datto: legitimately.
Me: Fuck...😂😂😂
I already know how but I'm here for the music
love your channel man! keep doing what you do :)
I have one question because I haven't seen anyone try or talk about it. In D1 you could shoot atheon with a charged relic blast and he would not dance around. Does this not work anymore or it hasn't been tried by anyone?
I think it's still the same, the relic super charges super quickly during damage phase.
