Back in OG destiny I used to spend countless hours crossing between my gameplay & your videos. Studying how to be an effective loot goblin and trusted raid teammate. I’ve been gone for a long time. But I’ve recently hopped back into this world and am having a great time 😎 although none of my old friends play anymore, it’s good to see you in the VOG again friend. To anyone who may read this may your loot drops be righteous, see you on the ground Guardians.
That's kinda the theme of most encounters in VoG 2.0. Confluxes don't go on for 3 and a half years, oracles don't go on for 7 years and gatekeepers *feels* shorter but is generally just a more engaging encounter
For the full experience play it on "360 mode." 30fps lock, 72 fov, all graphics low, and pull the resolution scale down to around 720p. New raid challenge?
For teams struggling with the oracles something our team was number them 1-7 going clockwise. 1 would be middle and 7 would be the oracle closest to the back on the right side. it also helps to type the order of the oracles into chat if your on pc.
Honestly same. My group got stumped on atheon and ended up not completing it, but Templar was honestly a blast. Took us about 3 hours or so, and it really was a great experience
only watched this to bring that rush of memories back from when i watched my d1 to prep for my first ever destiny raid back in the day. the musics back too! on a side note for anyone here learning on the oracle pre templar phase just use xeno. it one shots hobs and oracles.
I found that running Liar’s Handshake on top tree Arcstrider to actually be a really good loadout if you’re having survivability issues as a Hunter, especially when Contest was active
We numbered the oracles 1-7 starting with r3 as 1 and then going clockwise with l3 being 7. Then we just typed the order into chat for each wave so everyone knew the order
For the oracles my team had two people with Xeno who sat around the back right pillar because from there you can see all 7 Oracle spawns. Then the other 4 people all just focused on killing enemies. Made the encounter WAY easier to coordinate and stay alive.
Quick thing of note, you can absolutely just ignore the hobgoblins during the Oracle encounter. My team was able to do this DURING contest mode and even got a triumph for it, so during normal mode this should be easy as hell
My team’s strat for Templar was to ignore all the oracles after the first round and just focus on dps. We would then group up in the middle and cleanse and then we would continue dps
I dont care what people say. The changes are NOT difficult. People are greatly exaggerating the difficulty of D2 VoG purely based on Contest Mode. I think its the most played D2 raid on Day 1 or its had most day 1 completions or something from numbers ive seen. The changes were great. My group of raiders with little to moderate experience who havnt raided all together since Year 1 of D2 for Leviathan managed just fine on Non-Contest and picked up the new mechanics and had them down pat in a few runs. The D2 reprisal was great!
My team found that it was incredibly easy to kill Templar if everyone forgets about oracles (after the first set) and just burning it and then everyone cleansing when we needed to.
He ends up doing it, but it wasn't worth it in contest mode :) When he tried it took an extra 3-4 shots to finish them off because regen was so quick so you just ended up wasting ammo 😁 On normal it'll be fine though
"templar encounters" I thought there was like, hidden different versions we missed or something lmao, didn't realize it was just going to be about oracles and confluxes as well haha
This and Eater of Worlds are the only raids I’ve managed before a Datto guide got released. I know there were already guides for OGVoG, but I’m still counting this as a win.
For oracle I like 3 oracle people 3 mob clear. 1 for the 3 on the left (spot at the back near hidden left gives vision on all of the left ones.) 1 for the 3 on right and 1 for middle. This one can also kill snipers. With that you just need to call the order you got em. (1...2....3....4...,etc...) Call em again has you destroy them. This keeps comms super clear has there is only usually 2 people calling numbers. This also lets the mob clearer camp the spawns and immediately delete them.
"me, who has farmed Templar in under a min with dbl shotgun anarchy" Wait, Templar is an encounter, I thought he was just a fancy Pinyata you have to beat the loot out of.
Make sure you guys always do oracles as clockwise numbers starting with Hidden right as 1. I don’t want to deal with the DSC situation again where every fucking team has bizarrely different call outs.
Sweet assessment, made some personal notes on the subject: cerberus is actually really sick, especially in pvp. It kind of makes you adopt a lazy playstyle though and teaches bad aiming habits. It's also suffered a lot due to recent nerfs to auto rifles. Not sure exactly which nerf hit it but bungie's slow creep away from the auto rifle meta hasn't done it any favors. worldline zero: actually not half bad against champions. Can kill barriers before they pop shield in mid level content. Most things can do that though and lament/crown splitter/falling guillotine have it beat on one level or another. Symmetry's main home for me is actually gambit. Easiest way to get 4x kills on the enemy team almost for free. Most other places it suffers horribly though. Just doesn't have enough damage in normal pve to justify it over regular weapons, and standard pvp makes it too hard to get access to its perk to be worth it. Lumina's main problem is in its idea rather than its function. The fact of the matter is destiny doesn't have much room for support roles outside of endgame content; We kind of just faceroll everything. As stated in vid, it doesn't quite hit hard enough to justify in endgame content, so its best home is where it struggles most to perform. It would make more sense if you didn't have to get the kill to earn the noble round but as it stands it's just not worth the bother. Also GM's and raid content, you generally want a target dead as swiftly as possible and lumina's "support" is sketchy at best. It's funnest application is in conjunction with the warlock's benevolent dawn buff and new boots of the assembler to make a true party medic/support but it still struggles on the damage front.
For Templar oracles, my team named them 1 - 7 starting with right hidden and going clockwise. This means mid is 4 and left hidden is 7. It makes it easier to remember as a string of numbers than a bunch of Rs and Ls
It’s that time again:

“It’s a D1 raid, it can’t be that hard. Easy 20 minute adventure.”
It took my team 12 hours to finish Tempo’s Edge with only a short break in between the two runs. Draining, but fun.
@Shaun Ferrell I was losing sanity after 5 hrs of Templar smacking us
But I'm with out a team😂

I can’t wait for the “wtf I thought that raid was released in 2014!” Comments in a few years when people forget this returned
The nostalgia hits different when datto plays this music

I read this and ran the raid and got a rewind firefly fatebringer and a slideshot opening shot shotty😅

All hail the guide music!
I love the new changes in all the encounters, shout out oracles for not lasting for YEARS anymore, shit was just a drag before.
I like that it isn't just "Oh, an Oracle... BANG BANG BANG"
That's kinda the theme of most encounters in VoG 2.0. Confluxes don't go on for 3 and a half years, oracles don't go on for 7 years and gatekeepers *feels* shorter but is generally just a more engaging encounter

It actually helps me learn, no joke.
Got confused and thought I clicked the d1 version. Going to watch that now to beat the 390 hard mode

I've beaten the raid already, got a few fatebringers but I'm still here bumping to a Datto VOG guide like it's 2014!
If they haven’t changed from D1, the notes for oracles are: C (M), D (L1), E (R1), F# (L2), G (R2), A (L3), Bb (R3)
For teams struggling with the oracles something our team was number them 1-7 going clockwise. 1 would be middle and 7 would be the oracle closest to the back on the right side. it also helps to type the order of the oracles into chat if your on pc.
The Templar encounter was one of my favorites for Day 1, and definitely left a good impression on me leaving it

We numbered the oracles 1-7 starting with r3 as 1 and then going clockwise with l3 being 7. Then we just typed the order into chat for each wave so everyone knew the order
We did the same thing but started on mid oracle going clockwise it was much easier that way
Double slug anarchy on the ledge after contest mode for Templar is hilarious
For the oracles my team had two people with Xeno who sat around the back right pillar because from there you can see all 7 Oracle spawns. Then the other 4 people all just focused on killing enemies. Made the encounter WAY easier to coordinate and stay alive.
As a musician with almost perfect pitch, I see this as an absolute win
possibly unintentional troll by bungie when they said they wont change it much lol
Absolutely loved this raid and I can’t wait to run it again tomorrow!
Anyone else do this blind day 1 but still watching this for the music? 😂
I dont really need the guide but I like watching videos anyway lol
