So, How Are People ACTUALLY Doing Normal/Master Crota's End?

  • Every time a raid comes out, I make a guide within the first couple of days and basically never touch it again. However, strategies and loadouts can shift once the raid gets fully dissected, which means any potential advice given in that first guide becomes outdated. This video is a follow up to my guide, getting you more up to date on what people are actually doing in the raid, vs. whatever my guide said at launch.

      @@thecatthatgravityforgot8428yeah, I finally decided to tackle Garden of Salvation after all these years, and not only has the meta DRASTICALLY changed (it was linears everywhere, and Anarchy was still viable), but we've power crept it so hard that I've never seen a single team bother with rebuilding the platforms during the final boss fight (I've only got a few clears now, but the fight has been so easy, there's no reason to bother)

      most of the time time the way lfg does things is the lazy, slow, and not at all optimal way of doing it. Atheon comes to mind where people go to the very back when it makes it hard to shoot the oracles and takes more time to walk to the portal. Having an understanding of the actual mechanic is much better than knowing a certain strat

    • @skittleripple
      @skittleripple 10 месяцев назад +2

      @@mutantraze3681there’s times where you need to adapt if you fail a mechanic. But otherwise, the only knowledge necessary is the lfg strat, which should be easier, and more consistent then the “optimal”.
      Knowing the mechanics doesn’t help you in an lfg when you don’t know where to be and how to help. You would just be off on your own, even if you know the mechanics, you don’t know *how* to play the encounter.

    A good alternative to Burning Maul is anything that applies Sever to Crota. Titan strand melee, Hunter strand melee, or The Navigator are all great for this. Crota can still move around, but he won't kill people or break Wells nearly as often. It's not as efficient as Burning Maul at keeping him controlled, but it frees you up to do damage or reapply tractor.

    • @erikburgundy1769
      @erikburgundy1769 10 месяцев назад +3

      Let those people go. The Abyss is so much easier when you actually have fewer people running in the pack and passing the Chalice. The key is just having one person Enlightened at a time. And then whoever stays in your small pack (3 would be preferable) just keep passing the Chalice back and forth before it fills up. If you exchange the Chalice before the meter fills up, you don’t get the debuff that prevents you from picking up again.
      So one Enlightened, two keep playing ping pong with it every 10 seconds, and just slowly make your way through. Enlighten when your time is down near 15 seconds, and then you have another 60 seconds extending your timer. Then in the time it takes for the debuff to go away, you should be encountering a Preservation.
      Your people who want to speedrun, let them go, despawn all the adds and go sit on the Preservation points so you have a better gauge.

    • @Christopher-yc5py
      @Christopher-yc5py 10 месяцев назад +5

      @@erikburgundy1769 I agree with you. The context is important though. Your strategy works if you are lucky enough to have a fireteam with 3 people that are skilled enough to do that. My comment is more about fireteams with inexperienced people who can’t pull that off. I ran a raid with 4 players who haven’t run it before. There’s no shame in having a slow chill run if people are learning. Adapting to the needs of the fire team is important and a different approach works better in different scenarios

This means if you throw the 15% smoke weaken at the end of tractors debuff it will just extend the duration of the 35% debuff tractor provides.

    One thing I can recommend for Crota is Heartshadow.
    It has had comparable damage to Lament and other swords in my groups.
    It's an acceptable replacement for Tractor Cannon because even though it is a lower debuff number, the total damage gain is good.
    The one downside is that it will completely run out of ammo after each damage phase, so having Cenotaph/Aeon is mandatory for it.
    Obviously it won't be as good on Master if the surges don't align.
    It's also a case of really having only one person using it.

    My experience with Master Ir Yut and Crota was a LOOOOT of straight up failing to have enough damage. With Solar Surge I really have to shout out a surrounded Briar's Contempt for Ir Yut though, put in a TON of damage (given Divinity). Was way better than Sleeper Simulant. Of course that's not going to work with other surge modifiers unfortunately.
    I'd also VERY STRONGLY suggest having a Stronghold Titan dedicated to baiting Crota on Master Crota, it was a huge game changer. When I was in a group without one the vast majority of deaths were due to Crota just focusing one person and near instantly deleting them, which straight up never happened when we had a stronghold Titan baiting Crota instead.
    One of my biggest complaints about Master Crota is honestly the Unstoppable Ogres being annoying as hell. Only having Fusion Rifles to deal with unstoppable champions is just miserable; particularly when I was playing on Warlock running Cenotaph meaning I'd have to run double special weapons to have any way at all to stun them, where the ammo economy was awful even with generating special from Cenotaph mark kills. The fact that once your sword bearers pick up their sword they have no access to their weapons, and thus no way to stun unstoppables, really made things incredibly annoying. Running Strand would be a huge help with access to suspend, except for all the nerfs to the suspend duration AND Warlocks at least being hard locked to running Well of Radiance.
    There's also some weirdness which I don't fully understand where 2 swords don't reliably take down Crota's shield on master when both attacking at once.

      Have one swing and then the next sword bearer come in about a second or two behind the first. Highly reccomend Thunderlord for Ir Yut. Its not the highest damage but its a consistant 1 phase but also means with how super energy is gained these days you can get 2 supers per damage phase so for an arc titan like myself its a no brainer for 2 Tcrashes. Also Bequest will still outdamage other swords without surrounded due to its impact stat being higher than anything else in the game plus the surge mixes with 4th horseman. Any sword works though with Crota taking 15% more damage from swords and you can 2phase him with non godroll swords. For master crota Thin Precipice (crafted vortex frame from Deep) is a good pick too if you dont have good swords

    With the sword relic, there’s a few ways you can get more damage out of it. If you become radiant before picking up the sword, you get the 15% buff you don’t get otherwise. Also, the air heavy attack ignores light level for whatever reason, so it does nearly double the damage of the normal heavy attack on master. Do with this information as you will. On master, if the last person to pick up sword only gets it right before damage phase, they can proc radiant, then 2 people with a tractor can do some combos with heavy attacks, and it’ll make for a way more consistent 2 sword.

    what my team does for this raid is my buddy Chris (don't ask me how) will go up to the very top, and just do ad clear for the next 5 minutes while the rest of the team plays catch up, we don't have to deal with many ads, the knights don't spawn at all, and we're basically allowed to just walk through the whole thing
    for bridge, everyone gets enlightened, chalice and first sword cross, the others just do ad clear until there's 3 across, switch plates, and bring the other 3 across as the swords spawn, it's the most consistent and easiest
    Ir yut is just div and tether with retrofit escapades, 4 times target lock destroys her existence, finding rooms is either wish ender or just radar (as you showed)
    and Crota is a pushover, 4 people get enlightened, spawn and grab 3 swords, fourth person uses well, tractor cannon and riptide for oversoul, bequest and lament both destroy his health, so just blow through his health bar like it's non existant, riptide person 2 shots oversoul, 2 phase him
    this entire raid is stupid easy, don't make it too complicated

    With the second encounter, you don't even need to worry about going back with the chalice across the bridge if someone dies with enlightened before they cross. The game will do a mercy spawn of a Swordbearer Knight (on the Gatekeeper side) if everyone with enlightened has killed a Gatekeeper and the chalice has been preserved. You just have to leave the person who died on the spawn side while the 5 other people completes the rest of the encounter without them. I don't know if it does this more than once but it definitely saved a lot of time.

    • @rjpeters15
      @rjpeters15 10 месяцев назад

      one slight issue with this, is that you would probably need people on the plates on the far side the whole time until the encounter ends to make sure the bridge stays up. I had something happen where I took the chalice back to someone who had died, got enlightened, and then they took it back across to dunk it, but we didnt have any more gatekeepers to kill, so my team jumped off the plates and finished the encounter, and I got stuck on spawn side and had to wellskate across because the bridge wouldnt come back after the encounter ended.

    Master Ir Yut: DO NOT KILL BOTH SHRIEKERS. Kill only one side. After a while wizards will spawn in the rooms even with one shrieker alive. This has the advantage of keeping the barrier around the crystal room, making survival far easier. Obviously this requires you to grab chalice from below at the start of the encounter.
    In the second phase you can use the cleared out side as a sort of safe room to swap the chalice around and enlightened players can leave to scout and enter their witches rooms. This strategy is so consistent that we clutched our clear a 3-phase with 5 enlightens after an almost 2 phase.
    Master Crota: Use 2 swords (does not apply for challenge I think). Keep one player on balcony who continiously shoots Crota's Head with a primary. This will get his attention and keep him harmless for most of the phase (balcony player can still randomly loose aggro). I would also recommend that this player is a Xenotaph Warlock with Shoot to Loot that can mark the unstopps and swordbearers for extra heavy. Additional Aoens finishers should still be used in order for the Xenotaph player to get their own heavy.
    With 2 swords you can also easily delay the unstopps and swordbearer spawn until oversoul player is enlightened. Keep only one boomer knight alive and only kill them after second sword player gets enlightened. This also leaves plenty of time to clutch a bad shield break with getting another sword.

    Another good idea for crota if you don’t have a lot of wells is to use strand Titan to sever him. You don’t even have to do the fancy dps rotation with synthos (although if you can it’s obviously good), just applying sever reduces Croats outgoing damage enough that each wells can survive a few more hits

    For Abyss I designate 4 people in a order that will take care of the chalice.
    It’s doable with 3,but sometimes you need that 4 for podium and extending the chain so first person recovers from drained.
    Bridge… I don’t trust my team to remain alive with enlightened ESPECIALLY in Masters.
    If Masters we send the chalice person with the first sword to help and they come back.
    4 people in middle, first and two charge each other to cross, third person juggles the chalice with the fourth until they’re Knight spawn.
    As soon as 3 crosses,remaining people go to high ground, 4 and 5 juggle the chalice until knight spawn.
    4 crosses and 5-6 juggle until knight spawn and crosses together.
    For Crota my team runs at most 2 wells and a minimum of 1 Burning Maul+ Phoenix Craddle Titan.
    Nothing Revolutionary, it’s just what I found works best for my group.

    Mid way through the video but pasuing at 8:03 to make this comment.
    Use disorientating grenade launchers during bridge encounter if you are the chalice holder. Swordbeaers and Gatekeepers can both be blinded as well as the boomer knight that spawns. It helps the Sword-Wielding Guardian stay alive and makes it easy for them to hit their target.
    Crowd Control supers, Stasis Warlock, Strand Titans/Hunters helps a ton here too.

    One thing I heavily recommend for LFG groups at the bridge, I always play "waiter" with the chalice. I give it to (and take it from) each person so there's 0 confusion about who's enlightened and who isn't. Once I've given it to every single person, the bridge is built and I head over. Once people start coming over, I do the exact same thing and get people enlightened on the other side.
    It completely removes all running around and "who gets the chalice next" and "I'm about to die, take it!" "Oh no, I'm already enlightened! I can't take it!"
    People get a little confused when I tell them to stay the f on their plate, but once they realize I'm going to literally force feed them the chalice, they're pretty on board. Plus, the only voice they have to recognize when it comes to the chalice is my voice.

    For master crota, so many lfgs I tried to sherpa struggled with this idea of challenging crota. He will kill you even with resists. Treat him like warpriest, you can easily hide under the ring of the arena he walks in, he cannot kill you.
    Boomers can sometimes snipe down but not really an issue.
    Also if people find their wells getting destroyed use the stag. Gives more damage resist than a well, and crota can't destroy your rifts. Warlocks don't need any other exotic for the fight unless you are a centopath trace for heavy, or if you're using acrius and want luna/necrotic. Otherwise just use the stag. Can easily get away with two wells on master, and the rest can then be gathering storm when it's arc or needlestorm if it's strand. Easy two phase on master.

Since the Light attack will push you forwards, you can negate this and still deal a solid 55% of his shield without tractor cannon in normal mode.
