- Last week it finally snowed in Baltimore! For decades, Baltimoreans have turned to the saltboxes placed around our city to avoid slippery conditions. Join us today as we explore the history of these iconic boxes, including their recent transformations into works of art. Thanks for watching and see you next week with another video!

The wink to Poe was awesome. One of your best videos, Johns, and so much fun. Kudos to Baltimore for having a great sense of humor!

I visited all (if not most) of the art boxes. It took me a month or two.
Portland, Oregon does NOT salt, neither does it plow (though) I hear there are a few plows... Because it may snow here, but then it turns to ICE, the trees and landscape are fragile and the run off has big consequences here. However, it is starting to ICE more often here and the car crashes and broken legs and hips may soon, I hope, help us find a balance between the salt/no salt. We miss that civic duty to neighbors since we moved away. And, of course, we miss the decorated boxes. Nice to know the rest of the story!
Thanks for watching and stay safe out there!
Was the guy getting salt at the end a plant?
We couldn't have timed it so well if we had tried!
@@baltimoreheritage1006 It was perfect!
I absolutely cackled; tried to look close to see if it was Johns' son! :)
You should definitely do a chicken box 5 minute history video
Good idea!
is the word 'BOX' necessary?
We have never thought about this!
