    It's interesting that the cabs are designated like this, and I understand why you don't want to get the heat from the monitor. However, I would find a case to project the PCB from dust, etc. A clear cass would look cool.

    Just unscrew and carefully bend the aluminum case sides open and install a USB desk fan on the back to blow over it. I did it on 14 cabinets and all run nice and cool! Constant air flow over the whole board.

    Seems like a lot of work with some risk of botching something, with little improvement. I plan on just flipping the PCB and its shell around so it gets some air flow. And when are you going to recess the monitor??

    • @TechicallyTNT
      @TechicallyTNT  2 месяца назад

      I thought about doing it that way too, but then I saw that I'd need new mounting holes. Adding holes freaked me out. I don't know if I'm going to do the recess. I like the look, BUT I worry the bezel will be in the way when I aim. Regardless, Thanks for checking out the video.

      @@TechicallyTNT I don’t plan on needing any mounting holes just flip the casing for the PCB around and use some good double sided tape to attach it to the back of the monitor. I saw Bee Kong do it that way.

    • @TechicallyTNT
      @TechicallyTNT  2 месяца назад +1

      @@lonster3000 Yep it can be done that way. When I've done it with tape I've used thermal, it adheres a little better, and lasts longer then the standard. I didn't do it like that for this mod. Using tape just seems kind of temporary to me.

    • @lonster3000
      @lonster3000 2 месяца назад +1

      @@TechicallyTNTyes tape is probably not as “elegant” as your solution. One thing I just realized is that if you recess the monitor, there’s not much space between the PCB and the back panel, it’s a tight fit, especially with what you’ve done here. You would almost have to cut a hole in the back panel to accommodate it. I’m planning to make a cutout anyway just to help with airflow.

      @@lonster3000 I've only done a little light reading on the recessing, the monitor not done any measurement yet, but yes there are room constraints. Very curious if you plan on going with a kit, or will you do something custom when you recess yours? (I'm still not sure what I want to do...)
