Just a reminder of who contributed so much to Mahome's growth: Alex Smith. Pat was a raw talent and he sat while he learned and Smith, the starting QB who obviously saw the writing on the wall, did everything he could in helping Mahomes learn the QB trade. Not many veteran players will take on this task willingly. *salute Alex*

I beg to differ. Here in KC, there was a radio personality/host who was saying before the draft that the Chiefs needed to move up and draft Patrick Mahomes. He was the only person I heard locally or nationally who was singing his praises. Glad we got him!

Mahomes is starting to refine his game by taking what the defense gives which is dangerous for the rest of the league

So are his footwork and being able to avoid the rush. And after yesterday's game it let's you know that you're never out of a game with Brady under center 🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️
Maybe this is just recency bias but I can’t think of another quarterback that’s improved so much in a short time like Allen has. I remember when people actually thought Darnold was better than him.

@Frank Leni Josh and the growth he's shown this year has been tremendous. I thought he would be another guy with a great arm, but nothing much else to show for it. He's proven me wrong. I'm glad. I was ready to hype other young QB's. He deserves to be mentioned in same breath as Mahomes. That being said I hope he makes good choices contract wise and shares the wealth with the rest of his team too so they can continue to be competitive. Don't go the A-a-ron route, or this rivalry will be short lived.
Josh Allen is going to come back next season furious at the world and I personally can’t wait for the fireworks.

What is to say if Chicago got Patrick he would have become who he was destined to be. He flourished under the watchful eye of Andy Reid and behind Alex Smith his first year. He has an incredible relationship with his head coach and the other coaches but especially with Andy. He would not have had the same benefits to groom him if he went to Chicago or any other place. The stars were in alignment for him to come to KC for him and Chiefs Kingdom.

This game proved why Leslie Frazier should not be considered for any head coaching positions this season. His “#1 defense” got torched throughout that game, and even if you want to make the Mahomes excuse or injuries, his playing calling in the last 13 seconds was awful. You do not play prevent defense when they need a field goal to tie. Maybe Frazier could be a HC in the future, but 100% not next season.

And Patrick Mahomes both have the “I wanna WIN YES OR YES ADN”they are top competitors and this is something that others QBs cannot develop because it is a mixed between physical and mental talent… the second one is the hardest… Patrick Mahomes already has reached and WON SBs but I hope Josh Allen can also win his SB and do not be a super star QB for the Bills as Jim Kelly was without a single SB

The bills defense on the last drive of regulation was just inexcusable. First off they decided not to squib kick. Then their secondary was playing so far back as if they were trying to protect the endzone when all the chiefs needed was to get into FG range. But credit to Mahomes and the chiefs for taking what the bills defense was giving them
With the Chiefs this season teams have tried so hard to stop the big plays and they're starting to realize it might be worse that way

Has it been a while yes, but he hasn’t missed time due to injury and i doubt he’s forgotten how to play football. That's a broad brush statement by Rex Ryan, the draft is a crapshoot, there are so many factors at play. Yes, Mahomes was at 10 but so was Blaine Gabbert, yes Peyton Manning was a number 1 pick but so was JaMarcus Russell. Ryan Clark's take is far more nuanced and correct.
The Broncos had the number 5 pick and they drafted Chubb instead of Josh 😭

It is officially time to change the OT rules in the NFL. No more excuses. It is not fair and I am so sick of the only argument against a rule change which is "well the defense should have stopped them" that is lazy and just doesn't hold up anymore.
Nobody, including the league owners, cared when the Chiefs owner had made a proposal to have those rules changed in 2018-2019. KC was mocked and derided for it. No people can keep that same energy as they did then right now. Defense wins championships as they say and the defenses on both teams had opportunities to make stops before the end of regulation. If everyone was hyping the Bills D as #1 coming into that game I’m assuming that make stops or force a punt or FG in OT.

College rules is the only way to proceed from here. the viewers, fans and players get cheated by these current rules. Plain and simple. And like I said, the argument of defense that I predicted you would say in my original comment, just doesnt hold up since only 1 teams defense has to show up. Complaining about draft after the fact is stupid. We have seen many #1 draft picks fail. Draft number doesn't matter. No organization can predict how a player will be in their organization or on the field. Teams also pick for their need. Baker was picked #1 because he was a Hiseman trophy winner. How many of those have we seen fail in the NFL? ESPan need to stop. It's always negative sports news all day. I remember when talking sports use to be fun and ESPN ruined all that.
Allen had it much easier than Mahomes did. The Chiefs corners were falling down and leaving receivers wide open , Mahomes on the other hand had to go and get it the hard way.
