For those wondering, grip strength does not equal to endurance. Sure Whistling has a stronger grip but he can’t hold that grip strength for more than a couple seconds before passing out. However Alex can hold that strong 90-100lbs for hours, hence why is really good climber for being able to hold himself on those climbs for as long as he can. Also those rock climbers have stronger fingers than actual grip strength.

There's a reason the exercise, farmers carry, received its name and why it's known for blowing up grip strength as an exercise. When you look at power lifting or strong man training, a lot of the exercises have roots in movements you experience doing hard labor.
Same reason almost any blue collar labor worker destroys this test too. Those jobs build functional strength with much higher weight load for longer durations than a climber ever would see on any targeted body part. Also have to remember that a lot of the weight is pretty distributed between the legs and arms unless you're hanging from a ledge as a climber.

Pretty good at arm wrestling too. Alex is an endurance climber. This actually isn't surprising. Alex is small and has a low body weight, with what he does, his body doesn't need crazy strength, his forearms are trained to carry a little weight a long way. Where as whistlendielsel could carry a heavy weight for a little time. Your body adapts to what you train it for
