- First clip as they did the sound check.
Sorry if the video"s a bit rough, it's not like I had a tripod, and my cell phone isn't the best for photos or video. And yes, I got into the groove sometimes so there's a bit of a shake from that as well...
The guitar is louder than the rest and I like it like that! (Thanks for the new riffs, Luke!)
Thank u so much. It's amazing to look and listen to their soundcheck. Lots of things to learn.
Steve is one amazing rhythm guitarist
Lee's back on bass. Cool!!
14:08: Interesting to see Luke walking through the hall and checking the sound outside the stage. That's the main thing for the audience ... ;)
Thanks so much for posting this, Lynn! It's absolutely fine! When you consider how close to the stage (and in front of Luke! ;) ) you are, and that you get as clear a sound of the whole band it's pretty amazing! :) I love the bit where Luke is out in the seating area trying to hear if the sound is consistent. And darn it how good they consistently sound when stopping and starting! What a very cool treat for you guys! :)
guitar is louder like that just for the soundcheck, clearly there was an issue with the tone, and connection between Lukes wireless pack and the FOH, and thats why its louder here. Ive seen toto 15+ times, ranging from early 2000's to much more in the present time, and the mixes are always fabulous no matter what musicians are playing.
It's because the camera/mic is directly on axis with Steve's rig.
Guitar rig like that, four 12" drivers, BEAMS powerfully.
In other words, it focuses those mid-highs relatively straight out of the cabinet.
The problem is the key player is directly behind half the PA for the show. The mid and highs project forward, but the bass is essentially omni-directional down below 200hz or so.
There's a simple work around that's employed throughout the industry; cardioid subs.
The paying customers in the house seats want all the bass, but it's best to limit the bass onstage from the performers and the mics.
There's a variety of quite easy methods, cardioid, end-fire arrays, time delay arcs etc.
If they'd flown the PA, spread the subs vertically somewhat, that would've helped too... as the summation would've been great outward to the seating, but good cancelation downward.
Quick solution here, with the gear they've got, spread the subs laterally across the front. I believe that would have helped the issue.
These guys are working pros, ... they know when things aren't right.
I'm fine wth just the guitar myself too. Lol.
ギターいい音してますね♬流石!Great!!
guitar🎸のフレーズが良く聴こえてこんな風になっていたんだと思ってパメラ。凄い!オシャレ!❤
I date his niece. She is just as great as he is !! Fantastic ! Wish he was still performing

Turn Luke up, and turn everyone else down. Just the way it should be!

Shannon Forest! Playing an awesome shuffle-groove on "Pamela"!

@@garybyron9892 In 2016? Lynn D wrote, it's Shannon. Keith played a few live-gigs with Toto 2015, but then was engaged by Steely Dan and Shannon took his part.
