By the way, the original running time of this film was 6 hours and it almost bankrupted the studio, despite also being the highest grossing film of that year.
six hours!? damn and i thought Lawrence of Arabia was a long movie
The only accurate word for this film is "bloat."
almost 5 minutes only for an entrance
Welcome to WrestleMania ! Oh wait...
That's why It was 4 hours movie
I would watch even if its ten minutes. This is beautiful...
they could make it shorter
If it was made today it would’ve been 1 minute long

Am I the only one who came here to see the real Cleopatra, after what kind of shit was filmed by Netflix?
Elizabeth Taylor is more historically accurate than random black actress lol
Essa Cleópatra me parece o tipo de mulher que faria generais e reis perderam a cabeça somente por sua beleza.

Movie sets were really impressive back then
Yeah, but there was a lot of gaffer tape..
Now it would be Liz Taylor and a CGI crowd
Jonas Blane II no not really
Yh lol

One of the greatest entrances in cinematic history.
Spectacular! Notice the great detail in the background.
No CGI.
One of the most stunning scenes
Whole movie was THE TRUE MASTERPIECE
Yupper
the things the producers went through back then and no cgi or computer graphics just green screen

Elizabeth Taylor was and still is the ultimately Cleopatra.
What do you think about Vivian Leigh's performance??
@@KittyCatSpartan117 Vivien was supremely talented. That film wasn't directed well but she shines in every role. Her filmography is rather sparse hence people don't talk much about her but she was one of the best actresses ever for sure.
Vivian Leigh & Claude Rains I enjoyed too. Yes it's stagey but very witty.
In my opinion the best looking and worst written Cleopatra was Lyndsey Marshal. She had the historic look in the bag.
Love old movies. Colosal and huge sets
This whole scene is quite an impressive feat. Cleopatra was one of the greatest queens in human history.
Fact: 7,000 Italian extras were used and they were actually screaming “Elizabeth!” 🙂
Is it true many of those extras were actually crazy ET fans?
the level of extra I achieve to be 😂😂

@@miamiheatles2784 Her father was greek and persian. We all know she was from Egypt, but Just because she was born in Egypt doesn't mean she was black. She was part of the elite of Egypt, if you don't know, Greece conquered Egypt and a huge part of the elite of Greece migrated to Egypt. Probably her father was one of those greeks.
@@VNuxion There is no probably. Kleopatra’s father was Ptolemy XII.
The music is so perfect
this is more or less the only reason I watched the movie, was worth it for this scene 😂😂
the longer version with the buildup to her entrance is even better. You think it will never end then boom (even if they are depicting slaves pulling her..float (?) I can’t imagine being in 1963 and never having seen a spoiler, and seeing this on the big screen. Had to be pretty epic.

That wink she gives to Caesar. And Caesar's looks at her so proud. Uh! Such a wonderful film. So much said in those two shots without a word.
So impressive, not only that they built this set, but that they did it _twice!_
What a regal entrance! Greatly shot...
It’s insane.. none of this is cgi..
The most iconic sequence Ive seen. I remember being Mesmerised first time I watched it.
She's so beautiful😘😘...

Now that is how to make an entrance. Alex North wrote a fantastic score - love his music.
Everyone is talking how itsimd blogging that they made this film in 1960s but
It's mind boggling to imagine that people literally lived like that or even much more than this 1000s of years ago.

Absolutely fabulous Elizabeth so enchanting what an entrance such a beautiful film
